Title/Author: Black Ice by Anne Stuart
Series: Ice
Read: December 10, 2011
Rating: ★★★
First time author? Yes
To-Be-Continued? Yes
Review: Good plot and interesting characters. Although Sebastian is ruthless and sadistic, you can't help but fall in love with him and Chloe's naivete strikes just the right cord. The problem with this book is the writing, which is choppy and has sudden transitions that make it difficult to follow the sequence of events. Nevertheless, I've heard such great things about the rest of the series so I will be continuing.

Title/Author: Daughter of the Blood by Anne Bishop
Series: The Black Jewels
Read: 12/23/12 DNF
Rating: ★
First time author? yes
To-Be-Continued? May Be
Review: This is my 3rd time picking up this book. -- After 3 days/3 chapters, OMG I have to stop. Not really into it at all. WTH but the world building was really confusing and story was so slowwww. I found myself drifting out of the story line and fel asleep -- just couldn't follow it. Since I own the first three books. They will be back on my TBR shelf.

hopefully the other ones will be better.

December Update
Title/Author:Trance by Kelly Meding
Series: MetaWars #1
Read: 12-16
Rating: ****
First-time Author? No
To-be-continued? Yes
Review:
I loved the characters in this book. Especially Trance. She is so flawed and human, but when her powers return she becomes the leader of the new Rangers. She makes mistakes, but takes responsibility for them and tries to do better.
Spectre really was a spectre. Every time I thought I knew who he/she really was, something would happen to turn my attention to a new suspect. Great character!

Title/Author: Sweet Inspiration by Penny Watson
Series: Klaus Brothers
Read: 12/21/11
Rating: ****
First time author: Yes
To-Be-Continued: Yes
Review: Fun, new take on Santa. He has 5 sexy sons who help out in different ways. Nicholas is the oldest and is suppose to take over for his dad soon, but his heart is in baking. He meets baker Lucy and they end up at the North Pole and embroiled in elf politics. It was a fun holiday read and I look forward to reading about the other brothers.

Title/Author: Aftertime by Sophie Littlefield
Series: Aftertime
Read: 12/4/11
Rating: ★★★★✩
To-be-continued: Yes, I'm hooked!
Review: Great read! After a bio attack took out plants, trees, livestock, power, etc. we get to experience the "Aftertime". The author does a great job placing you in that damaged world with those struggling to survive. This book has "beaters" which are zombies that plague the cities during the day looking for flesh. The main character is flawed and struggles against her past ghosts while trying to trust others she encounters in her mission to find her young daughter. This was a page turner that I read completely in the same day.

Title/Author: The Becoming by Jeanne C. Stein
Series: Anna Strong Chronicles
Read: 10/12/11
Rating: ★★★★
First time author? Yes
To-Be-Continued? Yes
Review:
Anna Strong, a bounty hunter, tangles with the wrong perp and ends up as a vampire. She is shown how to go on by her Emergency Doctor - Doc Avery, a very old though attractive vampire.
Despite or because of being a bounty hunter, Anna has strong morales and a healthy attachment to David, her bounty hunter partner, and Max her DEA undercover boyfriend. Avery tries to get her to see that mortals are food and not to worry about them.
Various happenings keep forcing Anna to rely on Avery and of course she is very confused. There is also the mysterious "voice" she nicknames Casper.
Casper cannot physically help Anna and won't even show himself but it looks like he will play an important role throughout the series.
Looking forward to the next in series.

Title/Author: Storm Front, Jim Butcher
Series: Dresden Files
Read: 3 Jan, 2012
Rating: ★★★★
First time author? Yes
To-Be-Continued? Yes
Review: A bit slow-going in parts, but then it took off and took me with it. I like Harry Dresden, and the world Jim Butcher has created. And I've heard good things about the later books, so I'll definitely continue the series.

Title/Author: Hunting Season by Shelly Laurenston
Series: The Gathering
Read: 1/3
Rating:★★★★★
First-time Author? Yes
To-be-continued? Heck Yes!
Review: This is my first Shelly Laurenston/G.A. Aiken book and I think, we like each other just fine. This was the first installment of The Gathering Series. If you like Dark-Hunter, LOTU, Alien Huntress with erotica flavor mixed in, you will like this book. It was an easy read and a page turner. I finished it in a couple of sittings. The plot was good. It mainly prepped readers for what’s to come. I’m definitely looking forward to the second book.

Title/Author: How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf by Molly Harper
Series: Naked Werewolf
Read: 1/3/12
Rating: ***
First time author: No
To-Be-Continued: Yes
Review: Fun series with quirky characters in small town Alaska. Cooper was a pretty sad alpha and kind of jerky as a human. Mo grew up pretty quickly and came into her own.

Yay!!! Glad you loved it Wan, it's one of my favs!
The sad thing is, she hasn't written the 2nd book yet. The Pride and Dragonkin serieses took off and she hasn't had time to write any more of this. I think the pressure has been coming from her publisher etc to punch out more books they know will sell.

Title/Author: Abiogenesis by Kaitlyn O'Connor
Series: Cyberevolution
Read: 7/1/12
Rating: ★★★★
First time author? No
To-Be-Continued? Yes
Review:
I really enjoyed this scifi romance, first in the series Cyberevolution.
As the name implies, the cyborgs are rebelling. The bad guys are their creators, The Company.
Dahlia is a Rogue Hunter, until The Company tries to terminate her at a Med facility (where she finds out she is pregnant, but has no clue how). She is on the run and finally finds her way to the smugglers to get off-world.
Where she meets Reuel, leader of the Rebels, father of her baby, and the very cyborgs she has been trained to hunt.
Really looking forward to the rest of the series.

The sad thing is, she hasn't written the 2nd book yet. The Pride and Dragonkin serieses took off and she hasn't had time to write any more of this. I think the pressure has been coming from her publisher etc to punch out more books they know will sell.

I know, right? Now while waiting for the second book, I'm filling in with Dragonkin but since you mentioned The Pride.. well I'm throwing that in as well. Thanks.

Review: Suffers from first book syndrome - slow to start and lots of world building that can feel excessive in parts. The mythological background meshes well into the storyline and the take on Pandora's box is original. The main couple are compelling and well developed, however, the interaction with the secondary characters is contrived - the angst between the Lords is overdone at times. The action heats up toward the end and the hero's curse is resolved in an interesting way.

Wan, always glad to push my addictions onto others. LOL

Title/Author: Touch the Dark, by Karen Chance
Series:Cassandra Palmer
Read: Jan 10 2012
Rating: ★★
First time author? Yes
To-Be-Continued? Yes
Review: It was...I don't know, because I have no idea what happened. So much information was being dumped, it was like an avalanche. The first one keeled me over and I remained buried under it even as more was dumped on top. So um, yes. I read it, but I haven't the foggiest idea what it was about.
I am going to go on with the next book, because many people like the series, and I've heard the books get a lot better as they go along, and because I wanna know what happened, dammit! :D

Title/Author: Rhapsody: Child of Blood, by Elizabeth Haydon
Series: Symphony of Ages
Read: 1/10/12
Rating: ★★★★½ my GoodReads review
First time author: Yes
To-Be-Continued: Definitely! LOVED it!
Review: The world-building in this epic romantic-time-travel- fantasy is superior and the characters wonderful. Some people find Rhapsody, the heroine, to be too much of a “Mary Sue” – if that is even possible for someone with her back ground! I found her delightful and felt her losses. **shrugs** Go figure.

Review:
At the age of 9 Amelia started seeing ghosts. Her life was never the same. Her father sees ghosts and tells her the rules that will keep her safe. Keep her from being possessed. But, we all at times are attracted to that we know we should not want....
I had a bit of a hard time connecting with Amelia. She controls her life and her friendships so much, she is kind of a fuddyduddy. She begins to come out of that shell somewhat as she gets to know Devlin. I really enjoyed how the mystery was finally solved. Can hardly wait to read the next book about The Prophet.

Review: It took a long time to figure out what the heck was going on and what the heck they were talking about but once I figured it out, I really enjoyed Tanyana's struggles with this new life. She made friends with her debris team and hasn't lost all hope of a reversal of fortune.

Review: I liked this series starter though it's slow start took real effort to get through. Brynna is an intriguing character and it will be interesting to see how her "human" growth progresses and if her efforts are enough to appease an angry God. And I wonder if after experiencing a human existence and having a lover, Astarte will actually want her just reward or if she will decide to remain in this new life.
