WOW!!! awesome picks..now to decide which ones I want to read...I want to read them all!!! On the buddy reads, I would like to read Vampire Academy and Angels Blood. Do you want to read both, if not we can pick between them. I haven't read anything by Nalini Singh, but have been wanting to so this is a good way to "dive in"!

Roxy, all I can say is WOW! These are some great picks. (Loved Madame Tussaud: A Novel of the French Revolution last month by the way.) I hope you didn't mind picking for me again!

So, I had already planned to read Lean Mean Thirteen (Stephanie Plum, #13) by Janet Evanovich and Seduce Me at Sunrise (The Hathaways, #2) by Lisa Kleypas in July for other challenges, so that works out well. Why don't we do the buddy read for Black Ice (Ice, #1) by Anne Stuart . It's at my library now. :-) I probably won't start until after July 8 since I'm going on vacation and have other books I'm planning to read in the car.

Thanks again!

Hi Regina!
Thanks so much for the recs. I know for sure that I'll be reading
Exclusively Yours and I'm looking forward to it.

I was wondering if you could do me a favor, and I feel be bad for asking. There are two main reasons I do the PIFM challenge;
1. To be pushed into reading books on my ever-growing TBR that I'm constantly putting off.
2. To find totally new books that I might not have ever read on my own.
Could you choose something for #5 (Jupiter) to include at least one book not on my TBR. I really like your shelves, I think our tastes a very similar and would love to see what book(s) you would choose. And to add to my growing pile :)

Thanks again Regina :-)

Suzanne (esmerelda1) | 2244 comments Hello Photojim!

You have no books in your TBR! Either you’re very organized or a really fast reader, I’m jealous ;) So, I did the best I could with what you had read and tried to pick stuff based on those!

READ THE (CLASSICAL) PLANETS
1. Sun (star) – American Gods by Neil Gaiman - I have heard rumors that this is going to be turned into a TV show. This is my favorite Neil Gaiman.

2. Moon (satellite) – Grave Surprise by Charlaine Harris - Love this series!

3. Mars (same symbol as male gender) – Grave Peril by Jim Butcher - My husband loves this series, I can't wait to start it!

4. Mercury (smallest planet) – Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss - Interesting back story, this book was the product of a dare by his publisher to write a book with the least amount of words.

5. Jupiter (outer planet) – How to Shit in the Woods: An Environmentally Sound Approach to a Lost Art by Kathleen Meyer - Hahahaha!

6. Venus (hottest planet) – The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson – The beginning part is a bit confusing, but stick with it! It gets a lot better!

7. Saturn (rings) – The Princess Bride by William Goldman - Classic book and awesome movie!

OTHER SOLAR SYSTEM BODIES (BUDDY READS): Let me know if you want to do a buddy read by sending me a message!

8. Asteroid: The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

9. Comet: Married with Zombies by Jesse Petersen - I thought this book was hilarious!

American Gods by Neil Gaiman Grave Surprise (Harper Connelly, #2) by Charlaine Harris Grave Peril (The Dresden Files, #3) by Jim Butcher Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss How to Shit in the Woods An Environmentally Sound Approach to a Lost Art by Kathleen Meyer The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Millennium, #1) by Stieg Larsson The Princess Bride by William Goldman The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho Married with Zombies (Living with the Dead, #1) by Jesse Petersen

message 267: by TinaNoir (new)

TinaNoir Hi Cynthia- Here are my picks for you. Hope you find one or two you can work with!

1. Sun (star) – Book from their TBR you gave 5 stars or if you haven't read any, one with a high rating

Memoirs of a Geisha - I have read this twice and liked the peek inside the life.
Angels' Blood - Nalini Singh is such a fun writer!

2. Moon (satellite) – Book from their TBR that’s the next in a series they already started or from an author they already liked and enjoyed.

A Clash of Kings - This series is one of my top ten ever! And the second book is better than the first.
Want something not so door-stoppy? how about Spirit Bound?
Or you can check out another good series by Richelle Mead Succubus Blues

3. Mars (same symbol as male gender) – Book written by a male author or with a strong male character
Shibumi - over the top testosterone. Main character makes James Bond look like Steve Urkel.
Or something a little more thoughtful, maybe The Catcher in the Rye

4. Mercury (smallest planet) - Short book from their TBR
By pure pages number sort I got the following:
Of Mice and Men
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. A classic and it brings the funny!

5. Jupiter (outer planet) – Book that’s a bit ‘out there’ either because it has an original premise, a funky title or because it’s something they wouldn’t normally read

I see you don't have a ton of mystery/thriller so how about exploring some more? I love Linda Howard and Now You See Her is one of my favorites.
I see you've enjoyed YA my son loves this one Malice -- the premise is creepy/cool
Poison Study -- also has a very neat premise

6. Venus (hottest planet) – Popular book they haven’t read yet or a steamy book (if they like that sort of thing.)

The Help - Awesome!
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - I haven't read it but can millions of people be wrong? LOL.

7. Saturn (rings) – Romantic book that made you sigh (and hopefully included a ring.)

Soulless - I sighed when I closed this book -- but in a good way!
Something Wonderful - one of my very favorites by her. The title says it all.
Morning Glory - Intensely romantic.

8. OTHER SOLAR SYSTEM BODIES (BUDDY READS)
Asteroid: Book that has been around your TBR for a while that you think you would both enjoy.

The Graveyard Book - not on my virtual TBR but it has been on physical TBR next to my bed for oh a a couple of years now.

9. Comet: Book from their TBR that caught your eye
The Iron King - I would TOTALLY be into this one.

So there you go! Let me know if anythings I can definitely revisit.

message 269: by Amanda (new)

Amanda D. (tinyminx) | 634 comments KimKirt, your picks are ready!

READ THE (CLASSICAL) PLANETS
1. Sun (star)The Princess Bride. A personal favorite of mine. I guarantee that it'll give you that feel-good, warm satisfaction.

2. Moon (satellite)Lover Avenged/Lover Mine. I wasn't sure which one you were on next, but you seem to be enjoying the series so carry on!

3. Mars (same symbol as male gender)Warrior. Capt. Gabriel Huntley clearly demonstrates why he's a badass all across Mongolia.

Something About You. In Something About You, Agent Jack Pallas has a few demons of his own. So if you like a tortured hero, he's your man.

4. Mercury (smallest planet)Sh*t My Dad Says. I used to follow the blog to this book and I remember being reduced to tears at times.

5. Jupiter (outer planet)Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. This book was on your TBR list and not only is the premise interesting, but it reminds me of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, which I loved.

Club Shadowlands. I was wary of starting this series at first because I wasn't sure how much I'd enjoy the whole BDSM/Erotica genre, but the menagerie of characters won me over.

6. Venus (hottest planet)The Hunger Games. Seriously, you need to read this.

Dead Until Dark. Jump on the Sookie Stackhouse bandwagon! Which reminds me, I should probably catch up as well.

7. Saturn (rings)Secrets of a Summer Night. I have quickly come to adore the Wallflower series. The first book might not be my favorite in the series, but it's still a wonderful start.

Pride and Prejudice. A romance classic. I recommend reading it, then watching Colin Firth play Mr. Darcy in the film version. Swooning will ensue.

OTHER SOLAR SYSTEM BODIES (BUDDY READS)
8. Asteroid:
Extreme Exposure or The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie. I have both books sitting on my shelf. I just need that extra push to read them.

9. Comet: Stolen Fury or A Match Made in High School. Stolen Fury seems to have a great blend of romance and action that I love while A Match Made in High School looks to be fun & quirky.

I know what you mean. I got River Marked from the library. :)

I only buy hardbacks under rare circumstances. This year I've bought only one and that was the sequel for The Name of the Wind because I wanted to support the guy (after all, it took him a few years just to write that book!) I also bought it during an event and got it autographed which was neat. :)

Anna (ants) | 30 comments Hi Nakia- Here are my picks for you.

1. Sun (star)Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. This is was a book that I just loved. It definitely deserves my 5 star rating!

2. Moon (satellite)Certain Girls by Jennifer Weiner. I really enjoy her books and you liked the first one in this series. I also must recommend The Dark and Hollow Places by Carrie Ryan. You have already read the first two books in this series, why not just finish it up! I loved this series.

3. Mars (same symbol as male gender)Two Kisses for Maddy: A Memoir of Loss & Love by Matt Lodelin. It has both a strong male character and it’s written by male author.

4. Mercury (smallest planet) - Utopia by Thomas More. I had the hardest time with this one for some reason..

5. Jupiter (outer planet)The Passage by Justin Cronin. This book has an interesting premise. I have very recently read it, and I had such a hard time putting it down.

6. Venus (hottest planet) – I noticed that you haven’t read anything by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. I just love her books! It Had to Be You is the first book in her Chicago stars series. I also noticed this steamy book on your to-read list, Patience by Lisa Valdez.

7. Saturn (rings) – I am going to go with another author you haven’t read anything by. Smooth Talking Stranger is my favorite in this series but the first one is Sugar Daddy. But anything by Lisa Kleypas is always a good bet. I still find myself thinking about her characters. They are all sigh worthy!

OTHER SOLAR SYSTEM BODIES (BUDDY READS)
8. Asteroid: A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray. This one has been on my TBR for a long while. I would love to read it with you.

9. Comet: Nightshade by Andrea Cremer. This cover is so pretty and the story sounds really interesting too.

booklovinrn | 346 comments Claire,

I am a little nervous about my picks this time because we only had 13 books in common and only 3 on your TBR shelf. I hope you find something that interests you. If not let me know and I will find some new picks.

1. Sun The Book Thief by Markus Zusak...This book was on your TBR, has received great reviews and has been recommended by several of my coworkers.

2. Moon The Host by Stephenie Meyer...This was also on tour TBR and you gave high ratings to the rest of her books.

3. Mars Along Came a Spider by James Patterson...I noticed you enjoy mysteries and some thrillers. This is the first book in the Alex Cross series and one of my fav by this author.

4. Mercury Two for the Dough by Janet Evanovich...Saw you had started this series and read some of her single titles. I chose this because her books are short, easy and fun.

5. Jupiter Bitten by Kelley Armstrong...I read alot of urban fantasy/paranormal and noticed you have read a few. This is one of my favorite authors and thought it would be something a little different for you.

6. Venus
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins...Popular book, good book and you haven't read it yet.
Dark Lover by J R Ward...I am not sure if you like steamy books or not so I tried not to go overboard. But The Black Dagger Brotherhood series is a keeper. Love these guys...yum!

7. Saturn
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon...I recommend this book quite often and have to say I never get tired of this series. This is a historical fiction with some romance mixed in. I noticed you are from Scotland and didn't know if you would be interested in this one or not.

Annie's Song or Comanche Moon by Catherine Anderson...You cannot go wrong with a Catherine Anderson book, she just writes really good stories. These happen to be 2 of my favorites. Again, I was not sure if you would be interested in these, they are historical western romance.

8. Asteroid Abby Cooper, Psychic Eye by Victoia Laurie...I have been wanting to read this author for quite some time but never seem to get around to it. The book has good ratings and sounds like a fun mystery.

9. Comet
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee...This was the last book on your TBR shelf. I read this in school, remeber it as a great read and would read again if you like.

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak The Host (The Host, #1) by Stephenie Meyer Along Came a Spider (Alex Cross, #1) by James Patterson Two for the Dough (Stephanie Plum, #2) by Janet Evanovich Bitten (Women of the Otherworld, #1) by Kelley Armstrong The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Leanne | 5 comments Hi Roxy!~
Here are your picks (I picked them from your TBR list, but looking at some of the others', I didn't have to do that for all of them?)
So, if there isn't anything that looks good, I'll branch out...

1. Sun (Star): I was going to recommend "The Hunger Games", but decided it would fit better later on, so I went with Extreme Exposure. Then I saw you added A Discovery of Witches which I read and LOVED.

2. Moon (Satellite): Dragonfly in Amber is rated highly, and is on my to-read list as well. Or, Shadow Music (I haven't read anything by Julie Garwood)

3. Mars (Male): The King of Lies was one of the few books on your list that was by a male author, and I thought it looked interesting

4. Mercury (Small Planet): The Hunger Games isn't super short, but it's very easy reading, so it goes fast. Plus, it's good which always makes it hard for me to put down!

5. Jupiter (Outer Planet): The title caught my eye--Blood, Bones & Butter: The Inadvertent Education of a Reluctant Chef Seems out there!

6. Venus (hottest planet): The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks I think is pretty popular--it's been talked about on many an early morning news program

7. Saturn (rings): The Heir is a good historical romance. I got it when it was 99¢ or so on Amazon. The sequel The Soldier is also good

8. Asteroid: The Ice Princess is on my list. I've heard she is better than Steig Larsson, and I enjoyed his books. I already have the book, too!

9. Comet: There were quite a few books on your list that I had read already, so we seem to have similar taste. I thought Black Ice looked good. Romance and mystery are always good together!

Okay, first Pick It For Me done!

Hi Penney!

Hope you enjoy Exclusively Yours! The Kowalskys are very fun.

I also love to discover new authors and books, so it´s a pleasure give you more suggestions. Here are some recs for Jupiter - books that I loved and, as we have similar tastes, hope you love them too:

The Strain - vampires back to terror stories! I loved this book and its sequel The Fall

Loose Ends- this book was rec for me in a PIFM and I loved it!

Oleander House - I saw you read some m/m romance, so maybe you will love this serie. I just fell in love with Sam and Bo.

Heartsick - very intense reading!

Happy reading!

You only had 20 read books listed, so I'm not too sure about what you like, plus I think you've probably read some that aren't listed due to your wishlist having books higher in series. I hope you find something interesting here, but if not, let me know and I'll make some other picks.

Sun - The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. This book was very interesting. The sequels weren't quite as good, but I still recommend reading all three.

Moon - Bone Crushed by Patricia Briggs. Unless you haven't read the previous books, in which case, please start with Moon Called. Mercy is one of my favorite heroines.

Mars - Something from the Nightside by Simon R. Green. Great series that teeters between UF and horror.

Mercury - Coraline by Neil Gaiman. This sounds like a very interesting book. Plus there is a movie to compare it to.

Jupiter - The Spellman Files by Lisa Lutz is very interesting, but it takes a bit to catch on to the style as Izzy skips around a lot and puts in her case files. Or 'Scuse Me While I Kill This Guy by Leslie Langtry. Great title and a fun read about a mother trying to juggle dating, the family business (assassination) and dealing with her daughter being inducted into the family business.

Venus - Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie. I love Crusie's books for their humor and this is by far her most popular one. The characters are great, but you will start craving Italian food while reading.

Saturn - Naked in Death by J.D. Robb. Roarke is totally swoon worthy and the books get even better as you read the series and the characters grow.

Asteroid - I'm going to be reading Atlantis Rising by Alyssa Day and Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen (my PIFM pick) and would be happy to buddy read either of them with you.

Comet - Matched by Ally Condie looks pretty interesting. My buddy read availability will depend on whether I can find a copy or not, though.

The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins Bone Crossed (Mercedes Thompson, #4) by Patricia Briggs Something from the Nightside (Nightside, #1) by Simon R. Green Coraline by Neil Gaiman The Spellman Files (The Spellmans, #1) by Lisa Lutz 'Scuse Me While I Kill This Guy (Bombay Assassins, #1) by Leslie Langtry Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie Naked in Death (In Death #1) by J.D. Robb Atlantis Rising (Warriors of Poseidon, #1) by Alyssa Day Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen Matched by Ally Condie

Larissa,
Thanks for all of the great picks. I do like some YA mixed in with my readings so I'm going to add these books to my wishlist! I am definitely going to read At Grave's End this month. I can't put that series down! I'm not getting them from the library fast enough! If I have time after that I am going to read Vampire Academy and maybe the buddy read, Redeeming Love. I'll let you know about the last two in the middle of the month. Thanks again and happy reading!
~Lacy

P.S. I already read Father Mine, but forgot to mark it on my book lists! So thanks for the unknowing reminder. I loved that short story.

Regina you rock!
Thank you for the additional picks, I immediately added two to my TBR and I'm seriously contemplating Heartsick. I'm a huge The Silence of the Lambs fan (I had a totally inappropriate crush on Lecter). I think I'd have to hit Heartsick after a bunch of light, fluffy reading, but it sure does look good.

I'm not going to lie, I don't do well with true horror. I tend to walk through the house turning on all the lights and glancing over my shoulder, so The Strain is most likely a no go. But I appreciate the thought.

You definitely hit the "out there" mark and I now have two (possibly three) new books on my TBR that I've never heard of and most likely never would've chosen.
Thanks a million :-)

Ok here goes! This was really fun putting your list together!

READ THE (CLASSICAL) PLANETS
1. Sun (star) – I didn't find any that I gave 5 stars to that you either hadn't already read or wasn't further in a series than you have read. I'm giving you two options here. Both I gave four stars.
Succubus Blues (Georgina Kincaid, #1) by Richelle Mead The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins

2. Moon (satellite) – I saw that you already read and enjoyed Karen Marie Moning's Highlander series. I haven't read them yet, but I have read (and am quite obsessed) with the Fever series. It doesn't look like you've started them yet and as I feel it's my personal mission to get as many people reading this awesome series as possible...
Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning

3. Mars (same symbol as male gender) – I didn't find too many male authors on your TBR that I was familiar with, but I did see that you started this series that I've been meaning to get to.
The Girl Who Played with Fire (Millennium, #2) by Stieg Larsson

4. Mercury (smallest planet) - A short book that I've also always wanted to read.
The Bad Beginning (A Series of Unfortunate Events, #1) by Lemony Snicket

5. Jupiter (outer planet) – I didn't see any sci-fi books on your TBR but did see this. For someone who really didn't enjoy the Twilight series, when someone forced me to read this I thought I would hate it. In fact, I loved it. It is definitely "out there" and takes a few chapters to get in to and understand what's happening, but then it's so good you can't put it down. Stick with this one.
The Host (The Host, #1) by Stephenie Meyer

6. Venus (hottest planet) – This series is pretty much everywhere and is one of my favorites. It looks like you've already read the first.
Living Dead in Dallas (Sookie Stackhouse, #2) by Charlaine Harris

7. Saturn (rings) – Ahhh *sigh* Really good first in a series. This is the only one I've read so far, but I hear it just keeps getting better.
Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon

OTHER SOLAR SYSTEM BODIES (BUDDY READS)
8. Asteroid: I'm giving us two options here. I see we both have Pride and Prejudice on our TBR. It's one that I'm totally embarrassed to say I haven't read and I see it on your TBR too. But, if you want to avoid it my other pick is Deja Dead. The series is highly recommended to me and I love Bones the tv series, which is based on this books series.
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen Déjà Dead (Temperance Brennan, #1) by Kathy Reichs

9. Comet: I can't promise I can read this one this month since I don't currently own it and I've blown my book budget. But I'm intrigued by the covers and titles of these series. :)
Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder (Hannah Swensen, #1) by Joanne Fluke

If I am totally off the radar let me know and I can recommend some more for you...

Ashley (ashleylaura87) | 444 comments Katie wrote: "hey ashley -- i hope you find something here that works for you :)"

Hi Katie! Thanks for the recommendations! I think I'll probably go with Stone of Tears (Sword of Truth, #2) by Terry Goodkind or Tempting the Beast (Breeds, #1) by Lora Leigh since I already have both on my Kindle.

I'm totally down for doing the buddy read of Lover Enshrined (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #6) by J.R. Ward but I actually haven't read the first book in the Demonica series yet, so I wouldn't be able to read #2 with you.

Thank you for the picks!! I have really been wanting to start KMM's Fever series, this may just be the push I need! The other book that intrigues me is Succubus Blues, I may try to fit that one in too. I'm really torn about The Hunger Games. I have heard differing opinions from a couple of friends that I trust about it, but maybe if I have time. I will definitely read Shadowfever though!

hey ashley! yeah, i really loved [book:Wizard's First Rule|43889] and Stone of Tears is still pretty good :) and as long as you space them out, i've really enjoyed lora leigh's breeds series.

i'd be happy to buddy read Lover Enshrined with you! i've actually never done a buddy read before...it'll be a first for me :) just let me know when you want to start it!

my bad about the demonica series...sorry about that.

Shadowfever is the last one...make sure you start with Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning :)I understand about The Hunger Games. I loved the first one, but I was a little disappointed with the other two books in the series.
