What's that book? Book by plot.

Not returning books should be a firing offense!

I've just started borrowing books on my Nook, but you don't have to worry about them coming back to you because that happens automatically at the end of the 15 day lending period.

"The heroine is sent of to be a type of "lady in waiting" in the French court in the beginning of the novel and I'm pretty sure it's set in the seventeenth or eighteenth century. I seem to remember her name being Athena but I could be wrong - it may be something similar. She's blond and angelic looking and very delicate in physique.
She gets attacked on the streets and loses her memory and is saved by a man who takes her in as his daughter because she is strikingly similar to his own dead daughter. He raises her as his own and she eventually becomes the King's "mistress" but their relationship is never actually consummated. He eventually marries her off to someone and they fall in love but the man can't have sex with her as he is told that pregnancy may kill her.
Much of the novel is about their frustration and misunderstandings - i.e. he thinks she doesn't love him, she thinks the same because he refuses to have sex with her. I remember she gets reunited with her family after nearly being seduced by her own brother (unknowingly of course - they do not know they are related). I also remember it ends on a happy note, but don't remember exactly what happened."

If nobody has heard of it here there is a group dedicated to exactly this. You say as much of the synopsis as you can think of and someone who knows it will answer. It's got a pretty high success rate.

"The heroine is sent of to be a ..."
Gosh, Courtney, did you ever find out what this book was? B/c now, I'm intrigued. Sounds like a good read. So glad the seduction was "almost" b/c I don't dig incest.

Awww, shucks...so you actually never read the book, but just happened upon the description on Amazon? Drat. I really want to read this book now!
I shall try my hand at inquiring about it. ;)

Yep, Stacia! It's Anne and Gil my second favorite couple! :)

I answered my own question after days of reading book blurbs: Midnight Jewels by Jayne Ann Krentz

"The heroine is sent of to be a ..."
I've read this book! it's the icky brother part that I remember... I just can't remember the name of it, but i know it will come to me at 3 o'clock in the morning... so i'll be back!

The book where the brother tries to seduce and claim the sister is

However, This has literally driven me INSANE and then continued to further levels of crazy. I have spent HOURS searching for this book. I actually downloaded an application that lets me search through the text of my ebooks. (which scared me a little bit)
I have two theories, please realize that at this point I'm semi delirious from searching - which could be because I'm avoiding my current "stay at home wife project" (reclaim the territory that once was our backyard)
Theory #1
The reader made the same error I did and mixed up a couple books together. Although I still believe that I’ve read this book or at least read a blurb or summary is this one…
Theory #2
And the one I’m leaning more towards is this one…She mentioned in one of the boards that she read the book before 2000, It's possible that it was an author that only wrote a few books or wasn't popular. Back in the 90’s there were tons of those “Zebra” books with the weird holographic embalms on them” If that is the case it's possible that there wouldn't be a lot of summaries of the books or reviews online.
I know that were a few books that I read years ago that I tried to find and it took me ages. Scenes that were memorable to me then weren't actually big parts of the plot. For example, my senior year in high school I read a book that was set in France and was a courtesan and there was a fire, which was a huge part of it, and the cover was blue with a fountain. At the time, I thought it was the best romance novel I had ever read. I credited it with transitioning me from “bodice rippers” to sophisticated romance (whatever that is). It had a sequel. But it wasn't due to come out until the next year and eventually I forgot about it. Eventually, I "remembered the book" I spent years looking for it. I would go to book store and walk up and down the aisles looking for it. About 5 years later I found it. It was set in Venice, He thought she had MURDERED his courtesan, there was no fountain and the fire had a tiny part of the book. The story was good but nothing like i'd rembered.

One of the things that I noticed (after reading her summary fifty eleven times) is that she mentioned that a large part of the book was focused on the "frustration and misunderstanding" between the two main characters. But she spent ¾ of her summary on what happened to “Athena” before she met the hero.
My point is that IF there is a review or a summary of this book online it’s focus might not be on what she wrote. It might be on the conflict between the two characters.
But I have not given up, I am going to post the summary on a couple more sites and hope that someone has read it. I’m sorry I gave you false hope. ☹

This group might be able to help : http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/1...

The plot is set around Regency England and the top agent is a woman in disguise as a man.
I can't remember anything else. Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated!

The plot is set around..."
Maybe lady rogue by S. Enoch? I just started reading it myself.

."
Nope. It's not it though I did read this one. What do you think of it so far?

I like it but it is a little flat. I am about 2/3s done and it is starting the heat up in all possible ways. ;-)

That sounds soooo familiar to me...I'm going to think on it for a bit!

EDIT: I found it by chance in my hometown's bookstore.

This was answered somewhere else -- it's

Hi! Can somebody help me? I am looking for a book, it starts with the heroine's brother sent her a letter days before he died, and asking for her help. He just found out he had a child with her ex girlfriend. The child was given up for adoption and the heroine found who adopted the child and she fell in love with the guy who owns a lodge in oregon. I read it long time ago but i haven't finished reading the book.
Please help me! It's driving me crazy

PLot is: Hero is a king of a small desert/plain. which is in war. Heroine is a foreigner whom he marries and gets to his palace. Evil Aunt who tries to undermine their marriage. She becomes pregnant but hero is away fighting. since the H and h doesnt talk properly she misses home and fights with him for a divorce. The evil aunt convinces her that her baby died during birth and that H asked her to leave. she leaves on a donkey while haemorraging and reaches the embassy.
the Present: H gets h back since his son asks for his mom which she doesnt know is alive.
they talk and finally patch up.

Basically in the far far future, all of the planets have been turned into dyson spheres with a near impenetrable substance. A group of adventurers are given a spaceship and their job is to head out to the furthest most shell and see / find the stars. Basically the author goes into LOTS of detail about the area the shells have both inner and outer, the construction and population specifics to keep the air from one shell in that shell as much as possible, the "volcanoes" that allow for a dangerous passage form one shell to another, the "lights" I want to call them lumineers, as that seems like a familiar word to me.
I think the series is pre 1975 based on what I remember of the cover art.
That is what I remember, thanks for any help.

The second one is about this girl who becomes friends with the most popular boy at school because his sister has cancer and her father had cancer so he wants to talk to her about it. The sister (who's name I remember Kate Cole) and the girl become very good friends. The girl compares the boy to the 'prince' of the school. The boy and girl become very good friends and they meet almost every night out side her apartment. Kate dies from the cancer in the end.
If anyone knows the title or author of either of these book please let me know!!

It's about a fairy (or some kind of non-human entity with wings) who is assign to watch a guy that has just been released from a prison island of some sort. It's set in the future or in an alternate reality.
I ran across is a few years ago and added it to my must read list which I somehow managed to lost in a move.
Any help, or suggestions, would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks guys :)

oh and all the brothers get the word TRUE tattooed on them because its their initials and then she ends up getting a tattoo that says TRUER because her name starts with R.....

plot: the hero is a badass with a heart, falls in love with the h and ends up hurt when she disappears. Years later she re-appears seeking help for their daughter (one side of a twin) who has leukemia.

In the ending of the book the villain kidnaps the heroine and takes her in a carriage and I think halfway they stop the carriage for some reason and the villain tries to have his way with the heroine and tells her that if he sleeps with her the hero wouldn't want her because I think of something=g that happened in the hero's past. I think the villain hurts her and she fell to the ground and hero comes to save her and kills the villain and is all protective and trying to calm the heroine and tells he its alright if something happened!
This is it I guess! I don't remember anything else from the story!

All I remember is that the book (fiction) started with neighbor girl and boy starting an intimate relationship just as one of the two is ripped away due to something big happening (I know, not at all much to go on). I remember there being something about them being in the woods under a tree but thats it. The book I think had something to do with 'Boys' (again, not sure) and the time frame was 1995-1997 I want to say. Maybe even as far back as 1994 or 93? and it was a new book at the time, so it was a hardback in contemporary fiction. Any help at all would be amazing, I know this is a great deal to ask but I have been looking for so long with no luck that I thought this couldnt hurt!

What I remember
The main female character was a cop who was shot several times while on duty in a southern city, Atlanta I believe. She moved to Boston to become the head of security, or possibly just the manager, of a museum that deals in high end art. One night someone breaks into the museum while she's alone and pins her to the ground. The guy ends up being the brother of a very big deal artist who's art is going to be displayed in the near future and he was just testing the security system and it failed his test. Major sexual sparks fly between the two and over a period of time they end up hooking up. Other than the hot bedroom scenes I remember and the beginning of the book there is really no further continuation of the plot.
The book was previewed in Cosmo sometime in 2006 or 2007. It was one of those teaser first chapters that gets you to buy the book.
What I think I remember
I think the main female characters name was Jane and that features in the title in some way. Barenaked Jane, Jane Laid Bare... something along those lines but I'm not 100% on that.
I remember the ending thoroughly pissed me off. It felt so... unfinished. I turned the page and was like 'WTH? Where's the rest of it.' And now it's driving me insane that I can't remember the title. I lent it to a co-worker who got fired shortly there after and haven't seen it since. :-(
ETA: I answered my own question. SMH Maybe it just took me typing it out to get it.
