Good insight April! Things for me to work on w/my son!

****sports alert****

She'Davia - Papelbon hadn't allowed an earned run in 18 innings and pitched 3 nights in a row. He was throwing 96 mph fastballs. I think the man deserves a break.

message 203: by Joanie (new)

Joanie | 714 comments Nice sports alert Jeremy. We all learned last night that even Papelbon has his limits-3 nights in a row was too much. I still wish I went to bed after Bay's homerun-at least I would have slept in blissful oblivion!

message 204: by [deleted user] (new)

I was somewhat relaxed. I just hope they win tonight! I've found I can do a decent amount of reading between the 3rd and 7th without being too distracted, yet catching a lot of the action. All bets are off in the 8th and 9th.

Karlene Staves (karlenestaves) Random thought:
I really wish it was the 18th right now, because then I could be on a plane, reading my book, and on my way to my honeymoon....aaaahhhhhh man....I don't wanna be at work!!!!!!!!!!!! MEH!!!!!!!!!!

message 206: by Joanie (new)

Joanie | 714 comments Tonight is what matters I guess but it would have been nice to have them take first last night. I do the same thing with reading during the game-I can look up to see what's happening and still keep track of my book but by the end the book gets tossed aside. I always feel like baseball season actually helps my reading.

message 207: by [deleted user] (new)

Same here! Once the youth season and my adult league are over, that is.

MK - Good luck!!

Mk, have you already gotten married? Is there a congradulations due????

message 209: by Nikki (new)

Nikki Boisture | 121 comments Ken-I do remember that Roscoe Bartlett scandal, although I thought it was about a sheep, not a cow.

She'Davia- My husband is a Pirates fan. Jason Bay is awesome, I knew that trade would be good for the BoSox. But beware, Bay can be very very streaky. I know Boston fans are not well known for their patience with their overpaid players.

Random thought: If you decide to buy extra light olive oil rather than extra virgin olive oil (because it's on sale, naturally), just realize that you need to use WAY MORE of the light olive oil. My potatoes stuck to the casserole dish terribly last night. And they didn't taste as good.....so that's not where I'm going to save money anymore.

message 210: by [deleted user] (new)

Boston fans have enough patience for players that play as hard as they can. Plus Bay is not overpaid by todays standards. I don't think he'll have any problems in Boston.

message 213: by [deleted user] (new)

jaw drops...

And for those who say McCain owns the media, ABC has some cajones!

message 214: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Gr......I'm not a fan of book banning. Actually, the whole thing makes me want to read Go Ask Alice and that other book. Hehehe.

message 215: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Does anybody else notice when you look in your eyes, it's almost like you're watching a human robot? Is it just me??? And has anyone ever seen that baby awake ??

message 216: by [deleted user] (new)

Very interesting link. I don't agree with book banning myself. But to each their own.

message 217: by She'Davia (new)

She'Davia Williams (redsoxocd) Jeremy...I know, he is a really good picture...but he just has more blown saves that the last couple of years.

random thought: I think I figured out why my teacher wont call on me: my binder has my display pic on it, I always have on atleast 2 Nixon buttons, and he has a huge picture of himself and deval patrick in it (that definately was not up until today and its right by my desk)...maybe he just doesnt like republicans.

I just got in from volunteering today. I swear, everyone living in Peterborough is voting for Obama. The one person that I got who was for McCain I said "Wonderful, you really made my day because you are the only person who I have called all day who is voting for McCain". He yelled at me and told me that I was being sarcastic and hung up before I got to tell him that the call was "paid for by the republican party of NH, authorized by McCain for President and Team Sununu." Also got another deceased today, but the daughter was much more pleasant than the man yesterday.

Sera Woot! Go Peterborough :)

message 221: by Kellie (new)

Kellie (acountkel) | 992 comments Random thought....

Why do some men pour themselves the last cup of coffee in the morning, and then walk away...instead of starting a fresh pot?

This happened at work today..
I ended up making 2 more pots and had to wait till they were done to pour mine but I thought to myself.. the guys is probably not used to even making coffee. His wife or mother probably makes it for him AND/OR he doesn't even know how.

This happens to me all the time. I work in a place where there are maybe 20 women to 200 men (Engineers) (guess that would be like a 1 to 10 ratio)

Here's another scenario.
There are 2 guys in the office that drink decaf. (remember now, we are in an office of about 200)
One morning I came in and the 2 regular pots were empty.
The decaf is full. Mr. Decaf walks up, pours himself a cup and walks away....
I was like... Did he not even notice the other pots were empty? Does he realize he is just the only one who drinks decaf? Could he not start a pot of the regular?
I did it again....made a fresh pot of Regular...Just call me "Mrs Coffee"

Feel free to comment
Coffee making ettiquette (sp?) is a real pet peeve of mine.

message 222: by Tisha (new)

Tisha I'm with ya... luckily they just switched to the single serve Flavia machine here. That crap used to happen all the time.

Or they would leave the burners on with an empty pot and ruin them.

message 223: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm a male engineer and everywhere I have worked it has been a common courtesy for everyone to refill the pot when they took the last cup. Usually if it is a time of day, like 11am or 4pm, when folks are less likely to drink it then you just rinse out the pot and turn the burner off. It sounds like your firm is more about the attitude of the upper echelon than whether mom's/wife's make coffee for their husbands.

As far as Mr.Decaf, it would be courteous of him to fill the other pots but I could see how it might not occur to him as long as he is not leaving an empty pot.

We were spoiled with single cups for awhile but now we are back to the traditional pots.

message 224: by Tisha (new)

Tisha Random Thought: Am I going to have any clothes to bring with me when I go back to the midwest in November? I think I only own open-toe heels and flipflops now.

message 225: by Chloe (new)

Chloe (countessofblooms) | 1128 comments HAHAHAHAHHAHA

I had the same problem last winter when I went out to Philly. Well, minus the heels.

message 226: by Charity (new)

Charity (charityross) Random Thought:

Tisha gets a shopping trip. I'm jealous. :-(

message 227: by [deleted user] (new)

Tisha: I live in the midwest, it is getting cold already. Bring closed toed & wool socks! Just a suggestion but I never wear socks & my co-workers make jokes if I have socks on like "it must be cold out Emilee has socks on."

In my office if someone empties a pot they start a new one. I don't drink coffee. I do Tea so I don't have to worry, but from what I understand it took years to get it that way.

message 228: by She'Davia (new)

She'Davia Williams (redsoxocd) I just got a friend request from someone and the message going with it said "Hi. I like your support of Obama". lol. I didnt know what to do so I added her, and just wrote her nice message saying that my display pic does not say "Hope" but it actually says "Nope". And that i'm a huge supporter of McCain...lol. oops.

message 229: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) LMAO..She'Davia. If she only knew...

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Too funny She'Davia!

Random Thought: I should really clean tomorrow. And finish Tithe. And start another book. And go on goodreads less.

Which one doesn't belong? Hehehe.

message 232: by Sherry (new)

Sherry LOL Emma,i've had my butt firmly planted in this chair instead of cleaning my office and organizing after the work my hubbie did in the room.I've been stretching how long i'll stay on and now I've come to the conclusion that I'll clean tomorrow(which is what I said yesterday and the day before)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments LOL! I hope you get on that......I'm wondering if *gasp* I should *gasp* make a time limit on myself. As if that would work.

I am actually going to log off and go read! I have been trying to do this for the last 15 minutes, clearly not working.

message 236: by Sherry (new)

Sherry Here's a random question:Are the jellybeans distributed equally in all the little bags of jellybeans or do some bags have more than others?(of coarse excluding different sized bags)

message 237: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Have a nice, relaxing time Emilee! Hmmm, good question Sherry.

message 238: by [deleted user] (new)

Okay my last comment & I really want to go read!

When I buy the jelly belly's they are not distributed equally sometimes I get a ton of my favorites and other times I get a lot of my least favorites.

Happy reading everyone! :)

message 243: by Kellie (new)

Kellie (acountkel) | 992 comments You guys are so funny
I love Jelly Bellys
Have to stay away from them because the addicting like Goodreads!!

Jeremy
I wish we had the unwritten rule you have at your firm.

Ken
I do like tea but I have to have that one cup of coffee in the morning.
I fill the bottom of my cup with flavored creamer (like chocolate or Irish Cream)
and then walk down the hall to the coffee machine.
Inevitably, I come upon a different scenario every day.

message 244: by She'Davia (new)

She'Davia Williams (redsoxocd) Just finished my homework for Math and Physics. I should read for english since I have it first period tomorrow. But I also have tardy dentention at 7 in the morning so I guess I can do it then...I am no off to go read my own book until about 11:30...then off to bed

Sherry. It would be funny if there was someone whose job was to count out each jelly bean as it was dropped into a bag.

message 245: by Sherry (last edited Sep 11, 2008 08:18PM) (new)

Sherry So I have the coolest son(I say with complete objectivity!)He asked me what a Cerberus was and of coarse not being up on my mythology he was able to tell me.He thought he'd read up on various mythological figures just for fun and was pleased that he was able to put his knowledge to good use.

And yes it would be funny if there was someone counting though it would be nice if they'd also make sure there were equal black jellies in all the packs.

Ann from S.C. | 1395 comments Random thought........

Why am I up at 11:35 pm baking muffins for grandparents day for my sons school when I just spendt the entire day there and evening doing PTO (parent/teacher/org) stuff???? Just because I "don't work" I get to do all the fun stuff!! Well, I know i should say no, but I'm a sucker when someone asks for help.....

I don't mean to complain, but ya'll don't care if i whine cause you don't have to listen to me b@#@h...just read about it..lol

message 247: by [deleted user] (new)

I like black jelly beans.

Ann & Ken: I work but I find that I over volunteer myself between the 3 schools the kids go to, church & girlscouts. My son will be starting boyscouts soon. But one year I cut back a ton of volunteer work boy was I bummed out.

message 248: by Ann from S.C. (new)

Ann from S.C. | 1395 comments Ken and Emilee, Yeah, I want to help as much as I can, I like being involved in the schools to see what is going on. I was 36 when i had Mason, and I guess I am just getting old!!lol Mason is in the 4th grade, and i hope this will be his last year in this school (my oldest is 22, so I have been there forever!!) cause next year I am hoping he is going to go to a magnet school for the arts. (where my 13 year old, Oliver goes.) So i am trying to help get some new parents involved to take over when we leave.

Oh well, I'm done for this week.. Now I'm off for a nap!!!

I'm still here, Emma. Are you talking about writing a story? I have been trying to find time to write for the past few weeks.
