Nikki Boisture | 121 comments Logan, there are some things I don't agree with that Paul says also. (and I would say his white supremacist connections are loose at best. And not really a two-way connection, if you know what I mean).

But you have to admit, he's the only one who speaks of honest change. And the only one who seems to be concerned about deficit spending like I am.

message 152: by Chloe (new)

Chloe (countessofblooms) | 1128 comments Nikki, I definitely agree that he's one of two candidates who speak of honest change. But like Dennis Kucinich he has about as much chance of getting elected as I do of becoming the Pope.

message 153: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Sorry to say Roscoe Bartlett is still alive and well...and still my Congressional rep. Where did you live in MD, Leppaluoto??

message 154: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) It really is a small world (and we really do need term limits, don't we?? - get some of these crusty crabs outta there!! : )

message 155: by Kirsty (new)

Kirsty (kirstyreadsandcreates) | 610 comments Ok so I have a question... when did this group turn so damn serious? I come on here for a break from real life for a while, and all I hear about is politics. And whats more I don't even live in the country in question.

I'm with Jeremy... political talk on here should be banned.

message 156: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Hmmm....you do have a bit of a point Kirsty. But, you don't have to go into the topics that talk about politics!

message 157: by Kirsty (last edited Sep 09, 2008 12:19PM) (new)

Kirsty (kirstyreadsandcreates) | 610 comments No I don't, but then this whole thing has spilled into so many threads. Plus this topic was supposed to be RANDOM thoughts.

message 158: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Haha, good point!

message 159: by Emma (last edited Sep 09, 2008 12:27PM) (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Okay, here's my random thought:

I would really like some goat cheese and dark chocolate right now. Ooo, I might have some goat cheese in the fridge....

message 160: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Damn it, I don't have a baguette...

message 161: by [deleted user] (new)

I like both, dark chocolate more than goat cheese. Until now, I have never thought of them in the same sentence!

message 162: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Haha! I love them both. I can't choose...

message 163: by Kirsty (new)

Kirsty (kirstyreadsandcreates) | 610 comments hehe... funny... I was just thinking about Cheese!!!

message 164: by Emma (last edited Sep 09, 2008 12:36PM) (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Haha, Goat cheese.....so tangy....yummy...

message 165: by Chloe (new)

Chloe (countessofblooms) | 1128 comments The greatness of cheese can never be stated often enough.

Lori (tnbbc) | 10620 comments Mod
Ugh, please tell me you dont eat goat cheese WITH your dark chocolate!

message 167: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments LOL. No. I don't.

message 168: by Kirsty (new)

Kirsty (kirstyreadsandcreates) | 610 comments hehe... that would be disgusting

message 169: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Hmm.......maybe.....

message 170: by Charity (new)

Charity (charityross) I watched an episode of Ham on the Street (Food Network) where he dipped American cheese in chocolate.

He also dipped carrots in chocolate and fried chicken in chocolate.

message 171: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Fried chicken? Yuck!

message 172: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Hunk.....ack, I'm getting hungry! But I don't have a baguette for the goat cheese for dinner! Ack.

message 173: by Nikki (new)

Nikki Boisture | 121 comments Hi Laura!
I grew up in Frederick, MD and was raised in Roscoe Bartlett's district! I went to Middletown High. Right now I live in Rockville (Chris Van Hollen's district), but as soon as our condo sells, we'll be right back in ol' Barty-boy's district, but in Brunswick this time. Sigh..... He'll die before he's voted out, I swear.
Another random thought: I'm off to make some chicken (not fried) and roasted red potatoes for dinner! Be back on Good Reads and TNBBC tomorrow!

message 174: by Charity (new)

Charity (charityross) Laura - don't go dipping that chicken in chocolate. Or, at least, if you do, spare us the details. ick.

message 175: by Sherry (new)

Sherry Question: Why do so many guys have beautiful long black lashes? I ask you,is that fair? Do you think maybe God is laughing at us right now as I send these questions out to my GR friends?

message 176: by Charity (new)

Charity (charityross) Wow! That's a lot of empty white space on that post, Sherry. I thought something was quirky with GR again.

No, it isn't fair. My husband and sons both have what I call "doll eyelashes".

message 177: by Charity (new)

Charity (charityross) I have long eyelashes but they are pale, pale blonde...you can't really see them without mascara.

message 178: by [deleted user] (new)

I always got comments about the eyelashes. Kind of embarassing actually! My boy has them, too.

message 179: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Hi Ken & Nikki - MD is usually a blue state on the whole, but from Carroll Co. west, it is definitely red country out here. I live in Carroll Co. myself, and recently saw a bumper sticker that reads "Courage is being a Carroll County Democrat" - and ain't it the truth!

My first boyfriend had black hair, blue eyes, and those beautiful lashes as well - he also had lots of girlfriends, so I guess they weren't entirely wasted !! LOL ;)

message 180: by Ann from S.C. (new)

Ann from S.C. | 1395 comments Ken, we can't see your lashes cause of your dark glasses...lol

My husband just grilled some of the best chicken and sausage ever!!!! YUMMY!!! He is the best cook! I love him!

message 181: by [deleted user] (new)

Lori: I know your pain about telemarketers. And during the last election a lady ran, and I got so many phone calls almost daily for a month prior to the elections. One day I told the person I wasn't voting for her regardless because she was harrassing me with phone calls. I think a bunch of other people felt the same way she didn't win.

Oh I also work with several attorney's and I asked if I was on the do not call list why I was getting all these political calls. Well, that list doesn't cover the politicians & the non-profit companies. Yeah I get a lot of those too!

message 182: by [deleted user] (new)

OH my I had to read a ton of threads! I have to agree with Ken, let's get away from politics & yet by the end we had.

Also, if you go online their are recipes to make crickets, grasshoppers & cicadas. All sorts of recipes from appitizers, main dishes, & desert!

Gross!

My son has beautiful eyelashes! I am jealous!

Lori (tnbbc) | 10620 comments Mod
Nikki, your dinner sounds delicious.

My kids ended up with my hubbys bright blue eyes, but my oldest also inherited my long lashes... he's got eyes girls would die for.... hee he

message 184: by [deleted user] (new)

Lori: keep an eye on him when he's a teen!

message 185: by Lori, Super Mod (new)

Lori (tnbbc) | 10620 comments Mod
He actually came home from school today and asked how old he has to be to have a girlfriend. I asked him why... did he like someone. He said no. He was just asking.

GULP!!!

message 186: by Charity (new)

Charity (charityross) EEK!!

message 187: by Lori, Super Mod (new)

Lori (tnbbc) | 10620 comments Mod
Yeah. Thats what I thought.
Hes only 11.
A week ago girls were still yucky to him...

message 188: by Charity (new)

Charity (charityross) Don't you know the rule with boys, Lori?? You have to love them so much that no girl will ever be good enough for them. :-)

I'm soooooo just kidding.

11 is so young. Scary young!

message 189: by Kellie (new)

Kellie (acountkel) | 992 comments Yikes!!
How old his he?
It's funny cause my friend was just telling me she thought I was going to be really tough with the girls my son dates...
I said, "Yeah, Mama Bear is going to be watching them girls to no end"

message 190: by [deleted user] (new)

It starts early. I don't remember ever liking boys as early as my 12 yr old did but it started about 3 years ago. I was tempted to home school my children on a desert island but here I am! Good luck, I with ya! but my oldest are girls. My son is 6 so I hope I still have a few years!

message 191: by She'Davia (new)

She'Davia Williams (redsoxocd) Laura I'm still deciding between Political Science, Journalism/broadcasting, and Sports Management for my major in college. Most likely I'll go with Journalism/broadcasting for my major and minor in political science.

Random thought: My gym/health class is 30 girls...no guys...and the really hot teacher. Even more...all of us are in chorus. We didnt do anything in health today so we started singing...my teacher is so "manly" that we are no longer allowed to sing around him...or hug him (not that we did, but Ms. Fernandez did.

I officially hate my English teacher.

message 192: by Charity (new)

Charity (charityross) What happened with your English teacher?

message 193: by She'Davia (new)

She'Davia Williams (redsoxocd) He wont call on me at all. He'll like skip right past my hand and call on people that raised their hands after me or people who already put their hands down.

message 194: by Kellie (new)

Kellie (acountkel) | 992 comments It's probably because he thinks you are smarter than him!

message 195: by She'Davia (new)

She'Davia Williams (redsoxocd) random thought (but not so random as I'm watching the red sox/ rays game right now): I freaking LOVE Jason Bay. I cried when Manny was traded...but this cguy has shone that he CAN play in Boston.

*my hands hurt from clapping after Bay's HR that just gave us the lead.

message 196: by April (new)

April (escapegal) | 130 comments Don't you know the rule with boys, Lori?? You have to love them so much that no girl will ever be good enough for them.

Oh, yeah, I've dated this guy.
It gets ugly REAL quick.

message 197: by She'Davia (new)

She'Davia Williams (redsoxocd) ....papelbon blew the save...hopefully we can do something in the bottom of the ninth...I really dont know what is wrong with papelbon this year. he has way more blown saves than before.

message 198: by Ann from S.C. (new)

Ann from S.C. | 1395 comments Speaking about long eyelashes on boys...My oldest is 13 and the girls are nuts over him. He's got brown hair thats kinda in the long style and brown eyes with THE longest eyelashes!! My advice to all of you Moms out there, when your boys (or girls) get a cell phone, get unlimited text! My 13 year old, Oliver, has the girls texting him 24/7!! Now my 9 year could care less right now. He's still Mama's boy.lol

message 199: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Haha!

message 200: by The Book Whisperer (aka Boof) (last edited Sep 10, 2008 12:40AM) (new)

The Book Whisperer (aka Boof) On the subject of looking Asian (well, Ken mentioned it, LOL), I get asked alot if I am from oriental descent. I'm not - I'm an English rose with really pale skin and dark hair but I also have slightly oriental looking eyes which is weird cos I am English and my family always have been (apart from one side coming over from Belguim about 500 years ago). At school I used to get called "Chinky".
