Casey It made me mad and ruined the whole book which was in shaky ground to begin with.

message 352: by Bea (new) - rated it 3 stars

Bea i did not cry, i did not get at first that she died. horrible description of her death.

Maleeha Baluch i was kinda annoyedd. like why did she have to go??!?i still cried though =,(
i cried when rue died , finnik died and in the end =/

message 354: by Jessa (new)

Jessa I think Collins kills off Prim, Finnick, and all the other favorite/innocent characters and relationships in order to truly illustrate the negative effects of war. She says her father was in Nam, and he taught his children about the consequences and damage that came from war. If the book had ended in a happy little bow, something would have felt fake about it. Even if Katniss was to die in a heroic way, that would have given the book a tone of satisfying escape. But you can't escape war, that's not how it works in the real world. There are soldiers who only get one way tickets into the war zone and I think Collins was trying to truly illustrate the pain, loss, and even insanity that comes with the territory of killing human beings.

Maleeha Baluch but still =( why prim =(

message 356: by Jodi (new) - rated it 4 stars

Jodi No, I don't really cry over books, I get frustrated or mad over them if anything.
I HATED when Finnick and Rue died, AND Cinna! Suzanne just kept killing off my characters! The only one left besides Katniss is Peeta. I like Gale to but y'know. He left for that job in District 2.

But, No. I didn't cry when Prim died. She was barely in the books, so I didn't care for her as much as some people.

message 357: by Nicole (new) - rated it 5 stars

Nicole Cried and Cried!!!

message 358: by Elle (new) - rated it 4 stars

Elle I didn't realise she'd died until Katniss started saying about how much she missed her (is that bad??). The near-endings were SO rushed! :L

message 359: by Erin (new) - rated it 5 stars

Erin I didnt cry because it was confusing....but then I read it over but still didnt cry....I really didnt cry for Rue either but I got sad :(

message 360: by Jenn (new) - rated it 4 stars

Jenn I was mad that she killed off Prim, Rue, and Cinna, my favorite characters. I wish she had killed off Peeta, because I never really liked him and felt that his love for Katniss as fake. I liked Gale, and I'm glad he didn't die. Gale and Katniss should've been together in the end, and Peeta should've died.

Riah Jennifer wrote: "I was mad that she killed off Prim, Rue, and Cinna, my favorite characters. I wish she had killed off Peeta, because I never really liked him and felt that his love for Katniss as fake. I liked Gal..."

Why did you think his (peeta's) love was fake? Just asking.

message 362: by Jenn (new) - rated it 4 stars

Jenn He didn't seem like he wanted to marry her. It was kinda like he liked her and wanted her to like him, but he didn't seem deeply in love with her.

Riah Jennifer wrote: "He didn't seem like he wanted to marry her. It was kinda like he liked her and wanted her to like him, but he didn't seem deeply in love with her."

Really? I thought he seemed very in love with her. But different people read the book different ways. I honestly thought Gale didn't seem like he truly loved her. I think he liked her - even in the beginning - but he never admitted it until Peeta already had her attention.

message 364: by Kezia (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kezia B. Wolfie wrote: "She means she cried like a baby when Prim died. And my dog just jumped on my face."

what/ummmmmmmmmm ok

Erin Jennifer wrote: "I was mad that she killed off Prim, Rue, and Cinna, my favorite characters. I wish she had killed off Peeta, because I never really liked him and felt that his love for Katniss as fake. I liked Gal..."

Totally! when she killed off cinna, i was like 'oh NO you didnt!' and it always feels like Peeta's kind of guilting her into their relationship. it feels like she didnt get a choice.

message 366: by [deleted user] (new)

I dont really think we can say she killed off Rue and Cinna, it was kinda of there fault.....

and wasnt Prim Gale's fault????

message 367: by Maria (new) - rated it 4 stars

Maria it was so sad:( I knew that someone had to die, i mean they were in war, but did it have to be Prim? She was so sweet and innocent:(

message 368: by Erin (new) - rated it 5 stars

Erin It was TOTALLY gale's fault! katniss is all 'dont do it gale its not right to give people hope and then kill them... twice' and gales all 'okay katniss, i wont, i promise' but then he did anyway!!!

Tatajana I cried when both Prim and Rue died

message 370: by [deleted user] (new)

same

Lucille I cried when Prim and Rue died. I didn't cry for Finnick, though he was one of my favorite characters. The author didn't provide much emotion in the story for Finnick's death.

I cried more when Katniss cried with Prim's pet. It was heart-breaking. 3

message 372: by [deleted user] (new)

I agree. The author didnt put much detail into Finnicks death.

message 373: by Aerial (new) - rated it 4 stars

message 375: by C.C. (new) - rated it 5 stars

C.C. Not really, it was too sudden to sink in...

message 376: by Dal (new) - rated it 4 stars

Dal Although I loved Prim, her death was not surprising because I read a spoiler :P

Citra Nope, I was angry, because it was unnecessary.

I didn't even know what she was doing there.

message 378: by Livvy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Livvy B I cried it was so sad!

Whitney uh... no...

message 380: by Arushi (new) - rated it 3 stars

Arushi yeah prim died. but after catching fire, i lost interest in the series. i read mockingjay only in the hopes of finishing a series.

though i did love prim :D

Sarah (SB) ღ I was warned by the friend who suggested the books that Collins wasn't afraid to kill off her characters. I didn't have too much emotionally invested in Prim, she had a pretty good go of life (under the circumstances). Finnick, on the other hand deserved to survive, he earned it. I spent the majority of the time reading this trilogy biting the hell out of my nails.

message 382: by Zayna (new) - rated it 2 stars

Zayna Kendra wrote: "I threw the book and got even more mad about how horrible the last book was.
I would have rather had Katniss die, in some heroic way.
I loved the secondary characters more then the main character.

I AGREE

message 383: by Emma (new) - rated it 5 stars

Emma I think I did

message 384: by Allen (new) - rated it 4 stars

Allen ABH At first i was kinda shocked and then i got mad and was like "what the [censor] was that necessary? WHY?!" :(

*Book Euphoria * OooooMmmmmGggg, I thought it was so sad, I didn't see that coming. Katniss did all of this for her family & friends.. for Prim...I just couldn't believe it, I had to stop reading to process what just happened, I just sat there and stared at the wall. This is her sister we're talking about. I noticed we never here about a funeral or did we? I thought it was sad Rue but that's it, she didn't really grow on me, as Finnish, Cinna and Prim did, but the song was sooo sad, but so perfect .....tear..... yes I did tear up for Prim & Finnick, I was confused about what happened to Cinna, I thought he was going to appear out of nowhere. But Collins kept Effie, and Endroida alive instead of Finnick, WTF$%#, and what the hell happened to Gale, I thought he would stick around as her best friend wtf

message 386: by Tina (new) - rated it 4 stars

Tina Bougie Uggghh, this book made me so angry with the way it ended that I was pissy for a day or two. I felt that I had invested so much time in these characters to have them dead in the end?! I realize that it could not be a happy ever after ending but sheesh did she have to kill Prim and Finnick? Then, she doesn't even see Gale again?!

The Unicorn Riding Faerie[Vee] I cried when Prim and Finnick died.

Grobanite Um, nope, I didn't. I knew I wouldn't care if she died, because she only has about two lines in the book. Seriously, she's barely in the story! It just felt like a stranger dying. However, as soon as she did die, I groaned because I knew that Katniss would throw a fit and go even more mentally unstable. Sigh.

Sarah (SB) ღ Katniss started out a practical girl and stayed a practical girl. I didn't cry for Prim. I was warned by the friend who recommended the books that Suzanne wasn't afraid to kill off her characters. My only emotional connection with Prim was how she affected Katniss. I don't think we (the readers) are supposed to know her that well, she's cannon fodder. Her purpose was to highlight Katniss' ability to love.

well that's my 2 cents worth. Happy Reading!!

message 390: by Erin (new) - rated it 5 stars

Erin Sarah wrote: "Katniss started out a practical girl and stayed a practical girl. I didn't cry for Prim. I was warned by the friend who recommended the books that Suzanne wasn't afraid to kill off her characters..."

I agree! Exactly what i thought!

message 391: by Erika (new) - rated it 4 stars

Erika No, i didn't cry. I just couldn't believe it.
The only book that's ever made me cry is The Knife of Never Letting Go

Vinyessa I was totally heart broken and shocked! I wonder if they will kill her in the movies...its not very hollywood to kill off lovable little girls.

Vinyessa I entirely agree! Why Finnick! I loved Finnick, and he has just married the love of his life. That was so tragic. Collins killed off everyone I love and left Katniss pretty well alone to live in misery.

Rebecca W. At first I was confused about what just happened, then I started to cry when I found out that she died.

message 395: by [deleted user] (new)

i dont even remember that part in the book but that is sad

message 396: by C.C. (last edited Nov 23, 2011 04:54AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

C.C. may contain spoiler
I thought Prim's death was too sudden I didn't even see it coming. Her death was chucked into the scene. You know, when all of the bombs were going off and the kids that were used as human shield were dying. Prim was sent to the area to help with the injured and then the next thing that happened was BOOM! I really got confused in the scene because the only description of Prim was the "blonde braid"

message 397: by Catmew (new) - rated it 5 stars

Catmew the first time i ever cried over a book!
she was one of my favorite

message 398: by Isabel (new) - rated it 5 stars

Isabel Her death was really fast and I remember having to re-read the whole bomb-parachute thing because it was really sudden and it was hard to believe she was dead. But I did cry over her death. I cried a lot throughout this book.

message 399: by Jacqui (new) - rated it 5 stars

Jacqui I cried and cried and cried when Prim died! My husband had to calm me down. I couldn't believe it! Katniss went threw all that for Prim and she died anyway I was like WTF!!! I also cried and cried when Rue died!

Rebecca W. I cried many times in each book. So yes I did cry when Prim died, and it was Gales bomb that killed her!!!!!
