It's my favorite. It's very dark, grim, gritty and true, which makes me think Suzanne Collins was trying to give us all a lesson about what a real war might be like.

Read Pretty Birds. I dare you not to cry at the end.

Cac I was kinda glad she died. It made the book more interesting. Prim had a purpose and it was to keep Katniss alive. Her job is done.

message 454: by Ellen (new) - rated it 3 stars

Ellen I sobbed! It was impossible to not love Prim! Her death was so unexpected too.

message 455: by Jess (new) - rated it 5 stars

Jess YES! I stopped reading for a moment while I sat and cried...

Ma. Edessa I didn't. Though it was sad, Katniss love her alot :(

I completely agree.

No way, I loved all the twists and unexpected turns. Sometimes I think that authors become too attached to characters. All the kill offs were in keeping with the theme of the book. How fragile life was in their world.

yes! i agree wholeheartedly! i loved how she wasn't afraid to just kill off the people tthat we loved. it was so fearless, and it made me sit on the edge of my seat every time :)

Nichole No. I didn't feel Collins wrote these books really well on an emotional level.

Mohamed Abdelsttar yes i did :((
but the novel totally was soooooo boring

Cac Artemis wrote: "Oh,and,I hate how the whole book Katniss is sorry for herself. The nightmares, the dreams, the whole thing,I'm going to abandon everyone so I can Kill snow and make myself happy. If I die,who cares?"

Yeah, I felt the same way for awhile but then I thought if I was 16 and going through all this then I would be upset too.

Tobias Bass no, i did not. i thought it was just way to quick. everything in this book felt rushed. it was complete crap compared to the rest of the series. it was like the author just wanted it all to end.

Nya Tomlinson-Horan-Malik-Payne-Styles Nope, i didn't cry . Cause it's a fictional character

Sarah Lu I didn't cry when she died, though I think that it was partially because it seemed so muddled and like a fever dream that I just didn't know what had actually happened. The part that really got me was when Buttercup was looking for Prim and Katniss was yelling at him that Prim was never coming back, and Buttercup not really getting it. I promptly dissolved into tears at that point.

message 466: by [deleted user] (new)

Not really? I didn't think her death was very descriptive or emotional, she just.... died

message 467: by Gabrielle (new)

Gabrielle How could I not she reminds me of my little sibling. She's my little ducking.

message 468: by [deleted user] (new)

I didn't even realize she died until later

message 469: by Sarah (new) - rated it 2 stars

Sarah I didnt cry when Prim died because I didnt even relise that it was Prim to be honest, I though it was Peeta when it said blonde hair and then I relised it said braided... So dont feel bad if you dont remember her dying. And after Katniss going to the hunger games to save her life and Prim still dying. I was very very angry not sad when I relised it was Prim. But on the other hand I sobbed for 10 minutes after Rues tragic death in the first book.

Mary Patricia wrote: "No, I didn't cry, but I rarely cry over books. It has to touch me very deeply to make me cry."

same here although i will admit it sure shocked me. but we never really knew Prim other than what we were TOLD to know about her so i didn't connect with her character at all

message 471: by Sarah (new) - rated it 2 stars

Sarah Good point.

Mary :) thanks

message 473: by Sarah (new) - rated it 2 stars

Sarah Your Welcome.

Shelley Barker Yup...cried. This entire story could have ended after the 2nd book and I would have been happy. Hated this ending.

Mary Grace I cried when Prim died. It was sooo said! I also cried when Rue died. That was horrible

LOL! Has any books made you cry?

message 477: by Yaz (new) - rated it 4 stars

Yaz Yes I most certainly cried!!! I hated this book... just too many deaths. In reality the whole series was sad, I still loved it though.

message 478: by Elli (new)

Elli I had tears in my eyes, but they didn't like... ran down on my face? It's just always like that, it's the same thing with movies, I just can't cry over them.

message 479: by Joe (new) - rated it 4 stars

Joe Gibson Nope, I think it'd be impossible for anyone to cry over that scene when it literally came out of nowhere and was only described for about half a page before Katniss K.O'd...again!

message 480: by angel (new) - rated it 5 stars

angel Yeah I agree. If you cry over something in a book, it has to be cry-worthy. I don't get why Rue got this big fancy death and all Prim gets is explode and Katniss does nothing but get knocked out.

Godiva3 No, i didn't cry.

message 482: by [deleted user] (new)

no. it happened too fast for me. like a certain other notable death in the book...

message 483: by [deleted user] (new)

I didn't cry when Prim died, but I felt sad and disappointed. Isn't Prim a large part of what Katniss was fighting for?

message 484: by [deleted user] (last edited Aug 24, 2012 03:46PM) (new)

This part killed me:

- “She’s not here,” I tell him. Buttercup hisses again. “She’s not here. You can hiss all you like. You won’t find Prim.”

At her name, he perks up. Raises his flattened ears. Begins to meow hopefully.

“Get out!” He dodges the pillow I throw at him. “Go away! There’s nothing left for you here!” I start to shake, furious with him. “She’s not coming back! She’s never ever coming back here again!”

I grab another pillow and get to my feet to improve my aim. Out of nowhere, the tears begin to pour down my cheeks. “She’s dead, you stupid cat. She’s dead.”

message 485: by l (new) - rated it 4 stars

l No, I was too annoyed.

Madeline i was not happy when she died. But i saw it coming. no crying at that part.

۪H۫۰۪a۫۰۪l۫۰۪e۫۰۪y۫۰ I almost died when Prim died!!!!!! Because she Had grown into a young woman and then she died!!!

Melinda I didn't really care about Prim. I was more upset when Rue in book 1 died in the hunger games.

I definitely didn't see Prim's death coming, that was a surprise.

Wait… But wasn't Annie mentally unstable or something? I don't remember, it's been a while, but… I'm guessing that would have something to do with the uncaring attitude.

And it doesn't count as inappropriate language if it's blocked out. I'm just saying.
