Gwennie (blessedwannab) It's that time! (Actually it's about 3 days late, but who's counting, heehee.)

Going on a suggestion from a member, we're going to do it a little bit different this time. Starting now we're going to take nominations for one specific genre. I'll host a poll, and we'll select one genre. At that point we'll take book Noms for that genre. Hopefully this helps us keep the book poll to just a few nominations.

Genre nominations will end when I go night night on May 7th.

Juana "Darkness" Duran Supernatural Romance or Historical Romance either one is good.

message 13: by Leea (new)

Leea LOL... Suspense would be nice or HR - I'm flexable

message 14: by Stacy (new)

Stacy (dulcet_tones) | 57 comments Supernatural or Suspense are my faves, but Historical can be good to!

message 18: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I came to suggest HR but I see most of you already suggested it, LOL!

So I'll nominate Erotica.

message 21: by Megan (new)

Megan | 135 comments Paranormal erotica

message 22: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Wow, we've already got a good selection... maybe I'll save us time and close these nominations down after today.

Does anyone have a problem with that?

message 23: by Leea (new)

Leea nope :)

message 24: by Elke (new)

Elke (ejurca) nope...go for it!

message 25: by Margaret (new)

Margaret (margaretethridge) Contemporary romance

message 26: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Alright, I posted the poll. Please cast your votes. (Though I'm sure I know which one will win, haha.)

message 27: by Leea (new)

Leea You never know... I've never read a sports romance before :)

message 28: by Stacy (new)

Stacy (dulcet_tones) | 57 comments Off topic --- Leea, I recommend The Perfect Play by Jaci Burton. The Perfect Play (Play by Play, #1) by Jaci Burton I thought it was a pretty good read.

message 29: by Ladyhawk (new)

Ladyhawk | 381 comments How'd you get past the cover!?!?

message 30: by Leea (new)

Leea LOL Ladyhawk! Good questions hehe. I've see this book before on the 'attractive covers.' I just voted for Sports Romance, I love trying something new :)

message 31: by Stacy (last edited May 04, 2011 11:27PM) (new)

Stacy (dulcet_tones) | 57 comments Now where in the heck do I find the poll? I never could find it last month. :-(

@ Ladyhawk - Very carefully! :-p The next book in the series has an even better cover. :-)

**edit** Nevermind. I just figured it out. >.<

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I was about to respond, but you found it so never mind!

message 33: by D.G. (new)

D.G. A really good sports romance: It Had to Be You. Don't pay attention to the infamous 'breasts' cover. The book is VERY good.

message 34: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I've never read a Sports romance either. I'd be down for that one.

Maybe I should put a link to the poll in the first post here... that may make it easier for people. I did send out a Poll invite.

message 35: by Gwennie (last edited May 05, 2011 06:53AM) (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I think that what I'm going to do for other months is whatever genre was selected previously won't be on the poll for the following month so that we make sure to change it up a bit.

So say Sports wins for June, it won't be an option for July. It will be available again for August, though.

Thoughts?

So say Sport..."

Sounds good to me!

message 37: by D.G. (new)

D.G. That makes sense, Wendy!

Sometimes I wonder if there's a genre I haven't read, LOL!

message 38: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Also, for next month, instead of taking genre nominations I'm going to just use the same basic Genre list (to save time). So if you guys think of any other Genre's that are missing please let me know and I'll add them for the July group read.

(I realized we're missing YA Romance so I'm adding that for next month because it's one of my favorites.)

message 39: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I had nominated just plain Erotica but I don't see it on the list. I think it's probably better to have erotica as a broader genre because it may help ease some people into the genre. Meaning that some people may feel like trying erotica but may not like contemporary or m/m so that way they could be feel free to try something else.

Something else missing is Urban Fantasy.

message 40: by Gwennie (last edited May 05, 2011 08:04AM) (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I did see the erotica, but then people nominated Paranormal Erotica and Historical Erotica, getting more specific. (People who wanted Paranormal Erotica would be able to nominate that genre if either Erotica or Paranormal Erotica were selected, which seemed maybe not fair for the other genre's.)

But I will be happy to keep Erotica broad next month and not take specific erotica genre's. (I personally liked it broader too.)

The Urban Fantasy is a great one too, thanks! I'm keeping a list in my purse notebook for next month. I'm still working out a more streamlined way of doing these, and I think just having a basic genre poll for every month is the best idea.

message 41: by Gwennie (last edited May 05, 2011 12:55PM) (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) This is the base list I have so far... let me know if you guys can think of anything else.

Historical Romance
PNR
Sports Romance
Erotica
Romantic Suspense
Contemporary Romance
YA Romance
Urban Fantasy
Sci-Fi Romance
Western Romance

message 42: by Leea (new)

Leea Looks good to me :)

message 43: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Thanks, Wendy. Makes sense. :)

It's just that for instance my favorite erotica is Sci-Fi but I wouldn't necessarily nominate that. I'm sure most people may not be into Sci-Fi at all, let alone Sci-Fi erotica!

message 44: by Leea (new)

Leea We should add sci-fi... I love trying new books :)

message 45: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Yay, I think Sci-Fi sounds great too. Regina reads a Sci-fi type romance, I think. I'll add that.

D.G. I agree with you. Plus, if you wanted to nominate a SciFi Erotica when it's Erotica time that would still work. I personally think it sounds really awesome. I've never read one.

message 46: by D.G. (new)

D.G. For some reason I can believe all the weird couples if the story is in space, LOL!

If you guys would like to try some out, please let me know...I can recommend some.

And I'm a big historical fan but don't care much for historical erotica. I'm always like...really? This young virgin who's never even said a bad word in her life doesn't bat an eye at anal sex with 3 guys?

LOL!

message 47: by Alycia (new)

Alycia LOL!

message 48: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) HAHAHA!! That's really funny! It helps if there's a twist to the Historical. Like in Bertrice Small's The Love Slave, she was kidnapped and sold to a harem.

I wouldn't mind a space erotica rec.

message 49: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (luv2readluv2danz2) | 13 comments How about cowboy/western romance?

message 50: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (luv2readluv2danz2) | 13 comments I also like romances which have a horse theme...does this qualify as a genre?
