I didn't see that when I was looking at it on Amazon. Oh well.

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Nominations are officially closed.

The poll will be up within the hour, both on our home page and in the polls link on the right side of the group page. There will also be a link to the poll from the first post in this thread.

message 103: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Great! Thanks Wendy!

Aroma with Love | 123 comments When's the deadline for June's nomination? I still haven't looked...

message 105: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) It ends on sunday. Last month it ended on a tie so I had to do a second poll, so I'm trying to save time just in case.

The Briton by Catherine Palmer

message 107: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I'm sorry Aroma! I thought you meant for voting. Nominations are already in and the poll is already up.

That does look really good! I'm going to try to remember that one for the next time we get Historical Fiction.

message 108: by Aroma with Love (new)

Aroma with Love | 123 comments Oh ... I thought you said we could nominate until Sunday ;)

So, what shall we do next?

message 109: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Vote!

message 110: by Aroma with Love (new)

Aroma with Love | 123 comments oh, I see....forgive my ignorance, for this is my first month in joining a group read....

Q: Where is the final list of books that we could vote for?

message 111: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) It's my fault. I thought you were asking when the voting poll ended.

If you go to the first post in this thread there's a link to the poll. Or if you go to our homepage then you can scroll all the way down and you'll find it there.

message 112: by Leea (new)

Leea I'm so excited for another group read in June :) These are so much fun, Thanks Wendy and Stacia for putting it all together.

message 113: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) It will be fun! I like these too.

message 114: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) For those of you who haven't seen the poll since voting ended! Our June Group read will bee....

Outlander!!!
Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon

Such an amazing wonderful book. I can't wait til the discussion starts.

message 115: by Leea (new)

Leea My favorite book... Looks like I get to reread it *swoon*

message 116: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Well, I've read it already but I'd like to hear what you guys have to say as it will remind me of the story.

I'm listening #5 in the series now after 3 year hiatus and I've forgotten some things, LOL!

message 117: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (luv2readluv2danz2) | 13 comments I love this book. It's a long time since I read it, so I am looking forward to reading it again. In the UK it is called Cross Stitch. Jamie is one of my favourite heroes of all the books I've read.

message 118: by Aroma with Love (new)

Aroma with Love | 123 comments havn't read it before. I'll look for it...

message 119: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I've read it too. It's probably my all time favorite.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I'll be reading number 4 in the series while the group is reading number 1. Figure it would be a good time to continue on with the series finally.

message 121: by Leea (new)

Leea Yay Stacia... Can't wait to chat with you about it :)

message 122: by Ottilie (new)

Ottilie (ottilie_weber) | 438 comments Hahaha I actually have this!

message 123: by Larisa (new)

Larisa | 17 comments I've had this one for a while, but haven't started it yet. I'm looking forward to reading this book. Everyone that has read it seems to love it.

message 124: by Susan (new)

Susan | 19 comments I have this book. I can't wait to read it.

message 125: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Ottilie, will you be able to join us for the read?

I have known a few people who've read it and didnt like it. But that would be the minority. I'd say most of the time, people who've read it enjoy it.

message 126: by Ottilie (new)

Ottilie (ottilie_weber) | 438 comments I will try to when do I need it read by? I would like to try a read group for once.

message 127: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Just any time in June. There's no specific date to start it. Just bear in mind that it's about 800 pages long, lol. And that the Outlander thread will containe spoilers, because we'll all be talking about it.

message 128: by Elke (new)

Elke (ejurca) ok...I have never read this because it intimidates me cause of its size?!?! Is it a pretty easy read though?

message 129: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Easy in what way, Elke? The story is fascinating but there are some VERY rough scenes. The historical backdrop is painted in an amazing way so you really feel like you're there with them.

message 130: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I agree with D.G. It's not light, but it's definitely worth it.

I've read very few books where the characters feel as real as they do in Outlander.

message 131: by Ottilie (new)

Ottilie (ottilie_weber) | 438 comments Hahaha okay so hopefully I can get a move on the two I'm reading now to get a start on it!

I know!

Have you read them all, Wendy?

Today I listened to the part where Jamie gave Claire the flowers and I almost cried!

message 133: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I have read them all! Except Echo, I've read them all multiple times. They are the cream of the crop, in my opinion. They have the best of everything.

I love that scene when he gives her the 'posy', not realizing that it's not what he thinks it is. So sweet! I love that man.

message 134: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I know! He was sooooo cute. :)

I've been putting listening to this one for a few years (because of the length) and then when I started, I was like...why did I wait so long? :)

message 135: by Alycia (new)

Alycia Elke wrote: "ok...I have never read this because it intimidates me cause of its size?!?! Is it a pretty easy read though?"

It didn't take me a long time to read it because I was so engrossed in the story.

message 136: by Elke (new)

Elke (ejurca) ok...I am going to try it..but not sure if I can squeeze and finish this in June!

message 137: by Leea (new)

Leea I have read all the Outlander Series Books and it's my favorite series. I would not call them 'light' but they are a wonderful mix of romance, history and personal struggle. We will not lack for stuff to talk about. I understand about the size but as you read these books you will wish they were twice as big. Can't wait to chat with you ladies :)

message 138: by Jasja (new)

Jasja | 42 comments Enjoy ! I have to admit that this one doesn't appeal to me so I won't join this group read. There are so many books that I really really want to read during my holiday in June that I'm going to be picky :D .

message 139: by Gwennie (last edited May 16, 2011 10:14AM) (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) That is completely understandable. I've been doing the same thing with The Bronze Horseman.

I've actually read OUtlander so many times that I won't reread this time around. I will absolutely be discussing it though.

Anyone who knows me from the Outlander group knows I can go on and on about this series, haha.

message 140: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I'm planning to listen to the TBH but it's not available in my library and I haven't gone back to Audible yet.

message 141: by Leea (new)

Leea I highly recommend the Bronze Horseman Trilogy. It's a heartbreaking epic love story that spans a lifetime. They had the ebook on sale for $1.99 not to long ago on BN.com

message 142: by Saburi (new)

Saburi Pandit (saburipandit) Unabridged classics ..
