Persevere with Dracula. I found it a bit hard going at times, but would put it up there as one of my favourite classics now.

I hope you stick with Dracula this time around! It gets intense fast. I have read it 3 times and though I struggle with the language I still love the story and get scared every time!

I read Dracula this past summer. Though it was slow-going at times, like Claire, Angie and Jennifer, I did enjoy it in the end. When you're finished, you might be interested in Dracula in Love by Karen Essex, which is told from Mina's POV and was a bit of a faster read.

That sounds like a good recommendation (Dracula in Love). I'll have to read that one.

Michael (book_nerd1991) I am reading Halfway House, love it so far.

Karen M | 1956 comments Finally finished The Greek Treasure. I enjoyed the book but just took so long to read. I'm about 3/4 of the way through Mudbound and still really enjoying it although it's gotten a bit predictable. Just started Track of the Cat for something a little lighter.

It's got Charlotte's fingerprints in a way that, say, Anne's or Emily's works don't. Glad you're plowing forward!

Elizabeth Vignali I'm reading Reading Lolita in Tehran and loving it so far. It's easy to forget that reading many of the best works of fiction-- a simple pleasure in the US-- is a secret and dangerous act in other parts of the world.

message 25821: by tiasreads (new)

tiasreads I finished The Day the Falls Stood Still last night. It was excellent- I rated it a rarely-given five stars, even though the ending was obvious early in the book.

So, Alice in Wonderland is a good read? I'll have to try it. The Disney movie freaked me out when I was little. It was all just kind of LSD-trippy.

Yuliya (yuliyalovestoread) | 1685 comments I read Alice in Wonderland last year, I refreshed reading (I read it in deep childhood)parallel to my daughter reading this book (she was 8). This is one of the books what good to read in childhood and refresh when you older. But with all this cartoons, movies, theater's plays (and all of that in two languages, because it was super popular in Russia too) that I myself and later with daughter visited - it's never faded from my view or memory.

LilaBird | 11 comments I'm reading The Dark Highlander (Highlander, #5) by Karen Marie Moning and The Iron Knight (Iron Fey, #4) by Julie Kagawa . I'm so into the Highlander series now. I really didn't think I'd like a romance series so much. I think it's because Karen Marie Moning is such a great author. I decided to read her Highlander series while waiting for her next Fever novel to be released, and lo and behold, I love them!!

Push was one of those books I had been meaning to read since the movie "Precious" came out. I am onto The Marvelous Land of Oznow, since I found out my college library has thirteen out of the fourteen original L. Frank Baum books. :-) Got a lot of reading ahead of me there.
