What are you reading?

I enjoyed Watermelon when I read it a few years back. M.K. is good for a "brain candy" for me.

Hi Jeane,
I read The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and loved it too. I read The Girl Who Played With Fire (2nd book) and didn't love it as much. It's still very good, but I think Lisbeth Salander is a more interesting character when there's more mystery surrounding her. One of my favorite aspects of the first book is that while she's an integral part of the story, she's an enigma. Her motivations are unknown, so they're fun to think about. When you get into the second book, let me know what you think.

Tomorrow I'll start 'The Dante Club' by Matthew Pearl."
Matthew...I'm curious about how you like the Dante Club. I picked it up at a book sale a few months ago because it sounded interesting, but I don't know anyone who has read it.

I'll keep you and F1Wild posted on what I thnk about it for sure.

I'm currently listening to Haunted and don't know what to think about it. The personal stories of each character are interesting and show how damaged these people are. The "present day" story is so weird and unreal and bizarre.
I've started reading Dracula. I'm not far enough along to say much more than that but it has an appealing writing style. Very gothic and phychologically thrilling.

I also read Bloodroot. I found it got better as it went along. Worth picking up at library.

I just finished Saving CeeCee Honeycutt. I loved it. Somewhat like Secret Life of Bees. Will recommend for bookclub.

I heard this is good. I really have to pick this up.

I would really like to read that one, feeling so curiois about it. It is especially nice I think if you live in a city where the author once lived...like with he having lived in Dublin. I read a bit about ehr online and thought about the places and the things she did when I was in the city center.

Ana, I read another one of her as my first Keys book..Angelsand liked it a lot. Then I read also Rachel's Holidayand Watermelon. They are so good to read! Aparently, the part of Dublin used in the story, is very realistic for the period of the story. At least I was told by a lady who used to live in that area during that period.

Kimberly, the serie is easy and fast reading, and great stories!

e-Book - Age of Innocence - 1/2 done
Audio Book - A Tree Grows in Brooklyn - just started(has anyone else noticed how often they talk about Jews and Jew bread and Micks? Some of this is not coming across well 50 years later...)
Real Book - Lord of the Flies (about 10 pages left) and Shades of Grey is in the batters box.
May have to take a bit of a reading hiatus so i can indulge myself to some March Madness. . .

I am in the middle of A Clash of Kings and I'll start The Count of Monte Cristo sometime very soon, hopefully.

I just started Major Pettigrew's Last Stand which looks promising as well.

I just bought this from Amazon! It sounds delightful.
I just finished The Lady in the Tower by Alison Weir, and started Happy Birthday or Whatever: Track Suits, Kim Chee, and Other Family Disasters, but I must not be finished with the Tudors yet because when I came home from work this morning I went straight to the bookcase and grabbed The Six Wives of Henry VIII, also by Alison Weir. I skipped Katherine of Aragon and most of Anne Boleyn, though, and started with Jane Seymour.

I had this one on my bookshelf for over a year before I decided to pick it up and read it. I was glad that I did.

I'm just about to finish Winter Garden and will be reading Saving Ceecee Hunnicut next! I don't know if it's this cold I have or the book but it seems like it took me half the book to really get into it.

I'm continuing with Cujo. It's not a great story...moves rather slowly. Lots of inappropriate reactions and anger from characters.
Despite these books, I think I'll start Italian Shoes: A Novel tonight. It's a library book and needs to go back soon.

Mary: I totally agree with you about Saving Ceecee Honeycutt. I loved the characters; they took on a reality to me that doesn't often happen when I read a book. I, too, gave it a 5.
