oh me too! id just be sitting on the couch quiet then suddenly id burst out laughing. my boyfriend thought i was nuts! LOL It's just written so well you can picture every little thing, the only reason i havent read them sooner was i was waiting til i got the last two books i needed to complete it but i figured i might as well just go ahead and start reading them, that'd knock out a good chunk of books in my TBR pile when i finished them and im flying through them so far! I'm going to start book 2 on my lunch break today and I can't wait!

Just finished Four Freedoms: A Novel and enjoyed it. Initially, it was a bit technical but then I got very drawn into the characters and how they dealt with the domino effect of war. I've just started Little Boys Come from the Stars.

Good of r you Fiona! I love when books grab you right from the start. The Crossing Places doesn't do that. It is not a bad book per say, it's moving along but I just wish that I "couldn't put it down". But I guess we all feel like that with every book we tackle.

I started Home Safe by Elizabeth Berg yesterday and am already more than half way through it. I have always liked Berg's novels and this one is just such an easy read. I know it hasn't gotten rave reviews, but I am really enjoying the pace.

I'm reading The Likeness by Tana French. I'm 20% in (says Kindle). I just finished In the Woods, and usually I enjoy reading "series" back-to-back, but I'm struggling to find the sequel-ness in this book. I like the book, and French's writing, but for some reason I'm still so bothered by the ending of the first book, that I'm tentative to get too involved in this one. It's like a rebound relationship!

I'm now reading Anna Karenina as a part of my goal to read a good chunk of Russian lit this winter. It is so far much better than War and Peace.

I've somehow started a lot of books lately!
I'm still on Ulysses. Although it's hard reading, I'm surprised that it's not bad either. It's a book that needs more than one reading, though. Joyce put a lot into the pages and the reader can only absorb a bit at a time.
Beside a Burning Sea is a nice alternative to Ulysses and I'm reading that in between. It's nice to read a book that I can actually understand completely. LOL!
On audio, I'm listening to The Blood of Flowers: A Novel, which I'm really enjoying.
I've put Blindness and Wuthering Heights to the side for now. There's only so many stories I can follow at one time. I'm itching to get back to Wuthering Heights but will finish Ulysses first. I'm starting to enjoy the story of Blindness but still struggle with the writing style. I will get back to it, though, after finishing Beside The Burning Sea.

For what it's worth, I gave In the Woods 4 stars and The Likeness: A Novel 5 stars.

I really loved The Likeness. It reminded me a bit of The Secret History by Donna Tartt. I hope you enjoy it!

Cait, that is good to know! I read a lot of reviews from readers of In the Woods being dissappointed in the resolution. I'm just getting into Cassie's first week in Whitehorn House. I'm suspicious of a few roommates at this point ... can't wait to see what happens!

Started The Elegance of the Hedgehog and still reading (listening to) Undaunted Courage. I grew up learning about Lewis and Clark every year in Montana History and didn't really remember much - I'm enjoying it as an adult!

I just finished Jane Eyre, loved it, and started The Road by Cormac McCarthy. I love that the characters aren't named and that whatever apocolyptic event happened isn't explained. Gives it a much more grittier survival feel.

Next up is The Hunger Games. My daughter and I have both been wanting to read this and it being up for discussion this month pushed me along. :)

Finished Hacker last night by Malorie Blackman which was only ok for me. It could have been told a lot better.

Started and Finished Right Where It Hurts by David Hill today which I liked. Quick read, only about 130 pages. Had a good story and was easy to read. It was based around a girl who harms herself.

Now I think I might go back to trying to read/finish Wuthering Heights.

I gave up on American Gods the first time I tried it. It was difficult for me to get into it too, but I ended up enjoying it the second time around. It's unique.

Woo hoo... I finished Chronic City. Not the Lethem I am used to... overall an ok book. Just between the holidays, and the plot itself, seemed to take longer than it should have.
