Bhumi, I finished it and liked it a lot more than I expected. It surprised me at the end and I like that. I,m definitely going to read the 3rd. Thanks!

I'm finishing the last of Oryx & Crake(loving it)this evening. So TBOLT's & The Hunger Games are next on my list. I went a little book crazy shopping today buying Year of the Flood(Atwood), The Elegance of the Hedgehog(Barbury), The Maze Runner(Dashner), Chasing Fire(Collins)& The Book of Lost Things(Connolly). I'm so excited to read all of them!!!
I have started The Paris Vendetta by Steve Berry and already we have people running around in the middle of the night with gunmen following them. Nothing like jumping right in.
Bhumi - Did you say you were reading Magic Study by Maria V. Snyder? I haven't read it yet, but I read the first one in the series and really liked it. How is this one going?
Paula - Great! I can't wait to see what you think of it.Lyn - Yup, I read Magic Study, and now I'm reading Poison Study, the second in the trilogy. I liked Poison Study a lot, but I'm only a few pages into Magic Study so I can't say much. But I'm already missing Valek for that matter :)
I finished reading Douglas Adams's The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy 1-4 so I'm now reading Daniel Silva's The Mark of the Assassin. Should be an interesting book, I love all of Daniel Silva's stuff =)
Just finished Dexter in the Dark by Jeff Lindsay. It was good. Now I am starting the fourth Percy Jackson book called The Battle of the Labyrinth by Rick Riordan.
Starting Trojan Odyssey for AtW challenge because we own it and it fits a country I need. My boyfriend's a huge fan of Dirk Pitt, I can see why even though they're not exactly my cup of tea, they are entertaining though.
Right now I'm readdcing Hood by Stephen R. Lawhead. I believe it's the first of a trilogy (Kingraven) about Robin Hood. It is soooo good. I'm about halfway through.
Beth wrote: "I just started reading Little Bee by Chris Cleave"Would like to hear about Little Bee - got some good press - but I haven't heard of anybody who has read it yet.....
Still on The Paris Vendetta - oh there is a treasure of gold that the bad men are looking for... left by the Germans in Corsica... hmmm
I just finished The Third Policeman and am planning on starting The Invention of Morel tonight. And of course, after waiting for weeks/months, a bunch of holds just came in at the library. Today I picked up Everything That Rises Must Converge, The Children's Book, Poison Study and Flow: The Cultural Story of Menstruation. Yes, I will be busy these next 3 weeks!
I just finished The Russian Concubine by Kate Furnivall. And now I'm going to get started on the second book The Girl from Junchow. I can't wait!!
Marti, so far I really like Little Bee by Chris Cleave. Last night I was only 40 pages in and I was already crying.
I've started reading Wilkie Collins's The Woman in White. Am looking forward to reading it, it's been interesting so far =)
Brielle wrote: "I just started reading Jane Eyre. I'm enjoying it, although I'm not very far in yet."I just needed to say that Jane Eyre is my favorite book of all time.. I really hope you enjoy it!
I am starting up a re-read of Gone With The Wind today .. Just woke up and needed a good fix of Scarlet and Rhett!
I'm right in the middle of Have a Little Faith: The Story of a Last Request and really enjoying it so far. A bit different from his other books because this one is autobiographical.

Glad to hear you are enjoying Book of Lost Things... If you like his style, I have to recommend his new one as well.. The Gates!

Whoo hoo Beth! Another Saramago fan, I love it :)

Gotta read more of Saramago - I really enjoyed both Blindness and The Gospel According to Jesus Christ, but haven't yet got anything else from him. Too much else to read! All of my library book requests that have been on hold for months are coming due at the same time. I have The Hour I First Believed: A Novel home from the library, I'm a 100 pages in or so and really liking it. I've got two other library books after that, and have just been told that two more are ready for me - and one of those is War and Peace. Ulp. I think my reading for the next month or two is pretty well settled now...
Just finished A Gate at the Stairs. The first approx. 200 pages, for me, made this a 3-star book, but then from page 230 onward, it became much more engaging and 4-star-ish. Moore's imagery and metaphors are incredible, as is her humor, but at times this story seemed unnecessarily drawn out with dangling possibilities. Now I am reading The Mezzanine: A Novel and Half of a Yellow Sun.
Loretta, I havent read The Gospel According to Jesus Christ yet, but I really want to. I see they will be translating one of his newer novels "Cain" soon too...

Hi Brittany, I'm not much into it yet. I think it's going to be an enjoyable book, but some parts--like the funeral of Joseph Cross--felt quite forced to me. Did you win yours through First Reads? :-)

How was the Kate Furnivall book? I have it here so I am curious.

I finished The Help last night (fantastic read) and naturally progressed to Sena Jeter Naslund's Four Spirits: A Novel today.
I was going to read The Meaning of Night: A Confession by Michael Cox, but I gave it to my husband to read instead---he was in the mood for a historical mystery-type book. So I've been knocking off a few "easy reads" from my TBR pile. Currently I'm reading Deeper than the Dead by Tami Hoag--she's one of my "guilty pleasure" writers.I'm saving two "serious" books for our cruise next month--Sarum: The Novel of England by Edward Rutherford, and Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel.
Finished Odd Thomas which was very good, and am starting the Lovely Bones which has been on my TBR list for maybe the past eight years or so. Gotta get this one read!
Finished Wuthering Heights last night which after getting into the language (being my first classic and all) I really enjoyed it.
Now i'm picking back up Biker Chicks after putting it down a while a go.

So I've bee..."i love Edward Rutherford's novels, i've read 4 of them, though Sarum isn't one of them. i just saw New York in the bookstore today, and it wasn't as large as his other ones i've read. hope you enjoy it, and your cruise!
i finally finished The Winter Rose from Jennifer Donnelly. not a bad story, just a little slow going.i started Very Valentine this evening, and i'm really enjoying it. should be a quick read for me!
Started Razor's edge by Maugham,the last reading is Girl with a pearl earring.P.S. I am a new-comer to this website.To get started,i need a friend,but not yet
I just finished Blink and am now reading Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass.
Christine wrote: "Stephanie wrote: "I just finished The Russian Concubine by Kate Furnivall. And now I'm going to get started on the second book The Girl from Junchow. I can't wait!!"..."
I really enjoyed it!! It was not exactly what I was expecting from the title but it was very good.
I just finished The Catcher in the Rye, tried to read Wuthering Heights, but the vocabulary level was too difficult for me so now I'm reading Crime and Punishment :)
If you are able to get through Crime and Punishment You can do Wuthering Heights. If not now sometime in your future. The discussion for WH is on tnbbc, look at it and see if you get some insight into the book. Don't worry, sometimes it will take two or more attempts at some books. Usually they are worth the trouble though. Of course this is just my opinion.
