Anybody: Feel free to pm me for my home address. Hee hee.

Great idea!

I don't think I'll participate but I'll consider it. What date(s) might be considered to do this???

Fudge, cookies, muffins, brownies, other candies, dessert breads, etc. So many good options.

No promises from me that I'll join in, but that weekend can work well for me. Either way, I can't wait to see what everybody makes. Yum!

message 307: by Farrah (new)

Farrah | 212 comments Oh good, I hope you join. :)

There is also a Vegan Mofo challenge coming December 9th. The last one last weekend was breadcrumbs, and when I saw that I completely drew a blank other than breading something.

message 308: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) Thanks, Farrah.

Ha re the breadcrumbs!

My favorite vegan Mexican restaurant makes a great baked cauliflower dish; it's baked with cashew milk/blended cashews and it topped with breadcrumbs. It's really yummy. Sometimes it's baked with brussels spouts, once I saw it with eggplant and onions (didn't work quite as well) and it could be done with any veggie. But cauliflower and brussels sprouts have been my favorites so far.

Is Vegan Mofo a regular thing? For some reason I thought it was a once a year event.

message 309: by Farrah (new)

Farrah | 212 comments It is just the month of October but since everyone likes to participate in these Iron Chef challenges they keep them up about once a month it seems. But the actual vegan month of food is October

message 310: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) Thanks, Farrah; that's what I thought, re the official month being every day in October.

message 311: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) Thanks, Emmy. It's a good time of year for it. I love foods that are around in autumn!

Ooo...I would looove that recipe!

I won't make it for that first week of December, but I'd be up for a challenge sometime later ;) Sorry for disappearing there for a bit. Swap-bot took over my life and now I have a vegan talk coming up.

How exciting, Cassie. Very best wishes with the talk!

Farrah | 212 comments Ok...who is still up for a the edible gift challenge this weekend? I am gather a few recipes.

I am trying to keep to a schedule this month for my blog. It is easier for me to plan recipes.

Hi Farrah, I still plan on doing it. Probably cookies but I haven't decided for sure yet.

message 316: by Farrah (new)

Farrah | 212 comments Finally this weekend is here! I have been thinking about what to cook and bake for awhile. Have some great ideas. I am going to use some recipes from a cookbook too. Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with! I will be posting tomorrow probably, maybe one tonight :)

Farrah | 212 comments Hey ladies...after two month break, Carrot Top Vegan is back to blogging. How are my fellow food bloggers and non-blogging vegans :)?

message 320: by Cassie (new)

Cassie | 47 comments I'm just getting started again too, Farrah. March must be a good month for blogging :)

Perhaps we should set up one of those challenges soon. We could do something simple like try a new ingredient. I have some soy curls that I'm about to try ;)

message 321: by Farrah (new)

Farrah | 212 comments That sounds fun! I just got overwhelmed between the holidays and all of the other project I had going on. I couldn't keep up with the blog posting. I started again March because it was our six month vegan anniversary and I really missed blogging and cooking.

I have not tried soy curls yet. I see a lot of blog recipes using them more and more though. I won't be able to do any major cooking until after the 10th. We finally move into our new home. Right now, much of my cookware and bowls, etc.. are packed in boxes. This week we will be eating salads and vegan take-out lol.

I haven't blogged for a month either between vacation and other projects! I'd participate in a challnge. I have no idea where to get soy curls though, I've never seen them anywhere.

message 323: by Val (new)

Val Cowhugger (momof2gremlins) | 442 comments I don't think I'm going to continue blogging, at least not right now. I've taken a bit hiatus and actually feel relieved of having less online time.. That being said however I look forward reading all of yours and following your journeys and challenges you'll come up with! =)

message 324: by Farrah (new)

Farrah | 212 comments It does take up a lot of time. It isn't so much the actual blog post but more of all the social networking and stuff like that. Now I am trying to figure out how to get a "pin it" label on my blog for Pintarest and convert recipes to printer-friendly documents.

The recipe making and cooking is the fun part, lol. I had to stop going on twitter because it can get so addicting. I was starting to read everyone's blogpost and half my morning would be spent reading blogs and aritcles from twitter.
All of this social networking can get overwhelming.

message 325: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) Goodreads and trying to read some friends' blogs some of the time and emails keep me online way too much as it is, but like Val I'll enjoy reading what I'm able to read from the blogs of our group members.

Lee (leekat) | 1027 comments Mod
Farrah, if you figure out the Pinterest label or button, will you let me know? I'd like to add that too!

message 327: by Farrah (new)

Farrah | 212 comments Oh you are right Lisa, Goodreads can get a bit addicting. I love reading about books just as much as I love reading books LOL.

Lee--absolutely. :)

Thanks Farrah!

message 329: by Cassie (new)

Cassie | 47 comments @Val I know what you mean!
Like others mentioned, it seemed like I had other things preoccupying me. Besides the holidays, I got a bit carried away with swap-bot and mail correspondence. Lots of fun, but I was trying to do too much at once!

It's so much easier (and more fun) when you want to do it and not doing it just because. I think one of my current motivations is that we have a great vegan group building here in Springfield and I have another "Demystifying Vegetarianism" talk coming up at the library.

Cassie, That's wonderful! Best wishes with that talk. You're doing a great service.

Emma | 10 comments WARNING: This blog is Danish, but, well, if anyone here should happen to be Danish, or able to read it or.. just being fond of looking at nice pictures of food, then here it is http://hijaluna.wordpress.com/ :D I've been using her recipes for a quite some time, and I haven't tried something that wasn't licious and tasty :)

message 332: by Cassie (new)

Cassie | 47 comments Thanks Lisa! Sorry for not updating sooner. The talk went very well, especially the Q&A. I have had e-mails from a 17-year-old boy that attended regarding health concerns and it has been very refreshing! It helps keep me informed and updated and hopefully helps him, too.

Emma, looks good! I know that when using Google Chrome an option will pop up at the top of the page to have the page translated ;)

Autumn | 16 comments Vegan MoFo is coming up! Is anyone participating? I'm planning to do something centered around fall themed recipes.

message 339: by Val (new)

Val Cowhugger (momof2gremlins) | 442 comments I don't think I will! I tried doing it last year (I was too late to officially do it but did it on my own) and realized it's a lot of work! LOL
I'll be looking forward to follow all the other bloggers though for sure! ;)

Wow.. I can't believe it's already time for the MoFo again! Time flies!

message 340: by Melissa (new)

message 341: by Autumn (new)

Autumn | 16 comments Last year was my first time participating and I agree, it was definitely a lot of work! I had a theme planned but I just couldn't make time to follow through. I ended up posting pictures of whatever vegan stuff I was up to that week.

I forgot to link to my blog. Ha ha ha! Here it is: Hot Vegan Chickpeas

message 342: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) Thanks, Melissa and Autumn!!

message 343: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) Melissa, I was able to follow your blog (though I rarely have time to read any blogs at all; too many of my friends have active ones) but Autumn, I don't see a way to follow your blog. Am I missing something? Thanks.

message 344: by Autumn (new)

Autumn | 16 comments Lisa, I just added a follow option to the sidebar. I am still pretty clueless about blogging!

message 345: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) Thank you, Autumn. Your blog looked interesting to me. Off to check again.

message 346: by Val (new)

Val Cowhugger (momof2gremlins) | 442 comments I'm following you now as well, Autumn! ;) Thanks for making the follow option for us! :)

message 347: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (melissabalick) Hey, you guys, I just wanted you to know that I went through this entire thread and added everyone's blog to my own vegan blogroll on my site www.foodandloathing.com, as long as the blog was:
--100% vegan
--in English (I'm sorry! I only speak English! Sadface)
--active within the last three months.

Hopefully you'll get a hit or two off me! If you've got a blogroll, add me if you dig my blog, but I won't be offended if you don't.

message 348: by Autumn (new)

Autumn | 16 comments OK I added you guys to my blog roll!

Is anyone participating in Vegan Mofo this year? I'm just too busy but will definitely get some cooking inspiration from others.

message 350: by Val (new)

Val Cowhugger (momof2gremlins) | 442 comments Thank you, Melissa! (I revamped my blog by now too after you inspired me with your pic size comment! ;) )
I'll be happy to add you to my blogroll as well! (You too, Autumn! :) )

Lee,
I'm not, but certainly getting inspired by it to really cook more from my books instead of the same dishes over and over *lol* and really need to get back to blogging!
