By the way: If any group member here notices I'm not following your blog, please let me know because I want to follow, which doesn't always guarantee me time to read, but at least it doesn't fall off my radar.

Yes, me too! I want to follow all our group members' blogs. Cassie, I'll check yours now. I'm having fun Mofo-ing.

The wonders of the spicy, smoky Paprika will be posted shortly...
Is anyone doing a theme for Mofo? Would anyone like to cook something together one day or something like that?

Lee, I'm not doing a theme, but I think it'd be cool to cook something together one day or do a theme for one meal. Maybe book-related even? I hate putting that idea out there because I have absolutely no ideas coming to mind for it, but it could be a fun challenge ;) For an example here's a cool blog I follow that does food inspired by movies: http://vegancinegrub.blogspot.com/
I think it would be fun do something together for at least one day of Vegan Mofo too. Maybe we could pick an ingredient? Or maybe someone else has a better idea?
The caramel apples on that blog look so yummy!

Oh, that would be fun. I don't blog, but as a reader I vote for vegan pizza. ;-)

And see photos of the most delicious, sexiest chocolate cake ever! (Thanks to Lisa's recipe and my husband crazy good frosting skills!)

I like that idea or also picking one ingredient, like Iron Chef Vegan Style.

Looks like a good book. Let me know if you find it helpful, I could use something like it.

I'm now following your blog too! ;) I love the idea of coconut bacon!!! I'll have to try this soon!
Lee,
great idea about cooking something together! Picking one ingredient would probably work best for me right now but I'm always open to follow other suggestions as well. I just have to plan for it then.
As for MoFoing, I'm trying to post a recipe & pic daily. Ideally I'd like to use a different cookbook every week at least.. Most of my vegan cookbooks are all *virgins* still since I tend to print out recipes from other blogs and cook/bake with them and my books just sit in the shelf! *blush*

Thanks, Betsy. I love Lauren Ulm and Vegan Yum Yum: Decadent (But Doable) Animal-Free Recipes for Entertaining and Everyday; the photos in that book are great, and she makes a point of saying she's not a professional photographer.

I know she makes that claim--and I believe her--but she's got a lot of it figured out beautifully!
Yes, that's a great post/article. Thanks for posting the link Betsy.
So do we want to pick on ingredient for our little mini-cooking-mofo-community challenge?
A veggie? A fruit? Grain? Legume? Nut? Something else?
Any ideas? Val, make sure you speak up if it's something you don't have access to in Sicily. :-)

Lee,
thank you. As long as it's nothing like tempeh or seitan or anything that requires cashews, I should be good! LOL
Anything veggie wise would be good, maybe we'd focus on seasonal ones like squash, pumpkin.. and go from there? Should it be a main course or is it up to us what we make? Either way I'm in, it sounds like big fun! ^_^
I think a seasonal vegetable is a good idea and we can cook whatever we like, let's get creative!

My pleasure...an artist friend actually used the info for improving the quality of the photos of her art and turned me on to it.

Happy to share, Lee.
You're so thoughtful; it never would have occurred to me that some of what we can runner to the corner market and get is impossible for Val. Good call. And, you know me, I'm all about "seasonal" so the seasonal veggie approach is great!

I'm still in my baby-steps when it comes to taking pictures of my food! LOL And on top, it's a new camera to me (before I only had a point-and-shoot) so I'm taking maaaaany pictures every times, it's quite a learning process! ;) I'll have to play around with my camera settings more too, I guess! ;)
Ok, so seasonal veggie it is then? Are we all sticking with one specific one? I'm excited! ^_^

Love, love love parsnips!

I think you are paid a certain amount based on how many people click on the ads that appear on your site. You choose where they go (top, bottom, side, etc.), but I believe blogger chooses ads related to what yo tell them is the topic of your blog. I used to be on blogspot and never did it. I figured I wouldn't make that much and it would make my sight look commercial. On the other hand, I think sometimes when readers see national brands associated with your blog, it gives the blog clout. If you try it, please share what you think!
So would you all like to do parsnips then? Sounds good to me.
And I think it would be great to pick a day when we could all post together. I think we should give ourselves at least a week so we can all shop and figure out what to do. How about Saturday October 15th? You can always get ready and schedule a post if you get your dish done ahead of the date.
Let me know if parsnips and the date is good. If not we can do something else. xooxoxxo

Both are great with me--on my calendar!
Okay great! Put it on your calendars! I can't wait to see what kind of parsnip-y goodness we can whip up as a group.

Oh no Val! We can pick something else. Why don't you tell us what vegetables are in season and easily available to you. We definitely want you to participate!

I have to run errands on base in a while, let me check the veggies and get back to you! I know for sure we have different kinds of pumpkins and squash, but maybe I just never saw the parsnips? I'll let you know once I'm back in a few hours! :)

Since I would love to learn more about everyone's parsnip recipes [latest when we'll be living in Germany in 2 years I'll need them! ;) ], I'd ask you though to please use that as your ingredient and I will just try to come up with my own autumn-y dish, using what I can get here.. maybe even yams? :)

thanks for saying you'd also do anything with pumpkin, I appreciate that! :)
As to the blogroll, I agree! I need more than 24h in a day though to read them all! LOL I hardly have time to read my book anymore due to surfing and blogging and cooking/baking... LOL
I'll have to look for the pumpkin bagels, it sounds delicious!
I'm up for doing pumpkins instead of parsnips I love those pumpkin muffins from Vegan with a Vengeance : Over 150 Delicious, Cheap, Animal-Free Recipes That Rock. They're amazing!
There's only a few of us so it's no big deal to change our veggie! Right?
