True, with some books you know the ending before you're a chapter in and that is just bad. At least you managed a nice long one for her!

I'll give you a bad thing! Well, it's not bad, it's just freaky. Last time I saw them they went out over the crowd on this thing that was supposed to be a spaceship - very cool. But the drummer (Dom?)'s legs are so thin that at certain angles he looked like he was just a floating torso from my vantage point! Freaky! Yeah, I guess so. I just wish there were some books out there for teens about characters whose flaws are actual flaws. That Toymaker book? The girl in that book had actual problems: she'd been hit on the head by a rock, which had dislodged part of her skull and given her a form of epilepsy - and she was ruthless in her desire for revenge. She was far more interesting a character than Rose, Schuyler, Bella & co.

I devoured it. I really enjoyed it. First part of a trilogy, though.

Yup, that's why I usually put off reading the classics!

message 702: by Char (new)

Char (CharmaineElaine) I know. If it's like that I skip to the back to find out if I'm right. Nine times out of 10 I am which sucks. I know, and then I tweeted her the link. =D

Lol, about Dom. That's hilarious, stick legs and a floating torso. He's magic! XD Wow, that sounds really good. I want to read that now. I like flaws that are flaws and not just, I'm so boring that no one notices I exist.

Gah! I'm going to wait for my Kindle. I'm not allowed to buy the first book in a series in physical form any more.

It's a good idea, the ones I've read, I've had to.

message 703: by Alex (new)

Alex I'm reading The Six Rules Of Maybe by Deb Caletti. It's finally picking up.

Cate (The Professional Fangirl) (chaostheory08) | 34 comments LMAO, the YA discussion is amusing. All the points brought up are the reasons why I avoid YA unless I absolutely have to. XD

message 705: by Char (new)

Char (CharmaineElaine) Haha Cate. We read them and always end up doing it. I don't know why we read them to be honest. XD

message 706: by Victor (new)

Victor Stoudemire III (snackey) I started listening to Hearts in Atlantis until the main character read Lord of the Flies. Then I figured since I've never read that one before, I'd give it a listen. So far, so good.(I took a break in the middle of it to listen to Boiling Point.) Then back to Hearts in Atlantis. I think I might fry my brain at this rate...

Buy it. It's awesome. So is her other book. She's one of the best YA authors out there right now.

What do you think of the Hunger Games? Everyone I know loves it and I don't lol. =(

Terri ♥ (aka Mrs. Christian Grey) (mybookboyfriend) | 21 comments The hunger games so far is very interesting. Certainly different from all my other reads. I am not sure I like the main character, but I think she is who she is because of her circumstance. She's strong but so pessimistic. We will see though.

I don't like negative views and Katniss isn't the most optimistic character I've ever come across so I get what you mean. It's different to most of what I've read too.

message 730: by Shana (new)

Shana (thebigreader) I'm reading #8 in the Cedar Cove series by Debbie Macomber. I actually have a stack of 10 other books all around my house that I'm in the middle of. Too many books, not enough time!

Readingcureall | 7 comments I am reading so much I feel like I am split personality. lol I am doing prep for school reading, then I am Move on, Move Up, a group of friends and I just finished upThe Bridge Club That was fun to do with a group of gals . I also just finishedThe Prisoner in the Third CellThis was a bit of a let down. message 738: by [deleted user] (new)

I've seen a couple of negatives so a positive one should help to even it up a bit but you never know - Tara might hate it. It could happen...

It's possible... but it's a statistical improbability! ;)

I've actually got the first two chapters of Wither. It came in a little sample book at one point. But a) I don't know where I put it and b) it's in Dutch anyway.
