Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments The most I can do is two books at a time and only if theyr'e COMPLETELY different and usually because I got one then the library calls and tells me the book I REALLY want is available so I put that one aside and come back to it.

Unless you count listening to an audiobook and reading a book at the same time. I do that.

message 4052: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I NEVER read more then one book at a time.

I am right now though. I set down a book to read Finnikin. I'm going to pick it back up though.

That's totally a book that's worth setting down something else for! My last one was when I got Blameless by Gail Carriger. Changless kinda left me on a cliffhanger so I just had to.

message 4054: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I'm at work and reading Finnikin on my breaks. It takes me 15 minutes after setting it down to get back to work because I'm in the end and it's all so intense. I need time to recoup and come back to myself.

message 4055: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I can only "read" one book at a time, but I listen to 2-3 audiobooks at the same time everyday, so technically I have 3-4 books going at the same time all the time.

message 4056: by Kurukka (new)

Kurukka Omg, earlier I was in the tramway reading The Knife, I wanted to cry when Todd... well, when he... with the S... and Viola... D:

message 4057: by ☼Bookish (new)

☼Bookish in Virginia☼ (ren_t) Tyger Tyger just came, soooo I'll be starting that :]

message 4058: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 415 comments Oh no, no Knife spoilers! I JUST finished The New World prequel on my iPod and really enjoyed it. I'll be starting that series very soon!

I recently finished (and loved!) The Red Pyramid (Kane Chronicles, #1) by Rick Riordan and was going to just jump into The Lost Hero, but I saw a book at the store this weekend and later couldn't remember the title. Then, last night, while at the library - there it was sitting on top of books on the shelf and I thought it too odd it just happened to be right there and had to pick it up and start reading it.

The Search for WondLa by Tony DiTerlizzi

message 4059: by Kurukka (new)

Kurukka Oh, I didn't know there was a prequel : o I'll have to check that.

Lloyd | 415 comments Cécilia wrote: "Oh, I didn't know there was a prequel : o I'll have to check that."

It's pretty short, but I enjoyed it. Check out the Kindle ebook section on Amazon. It's free.

message 4061: by Kate (new)

Kate | 13 comments I just finished two really good but very different books. First, I stuck with and ended up really likingThe Knife of Never Letting Go even though I found myself longing for complete sentences..lol :D

Then when I went to my library to pick up the next book in the series The Ask and the Answer I had By the Time You Read This, I'll Be Dead waiting for me on hold, which I have been waiting forever for. I took it home and read it basically in two sittings. It was very different from my usual reads, but very good. I have to admit it made me a little nervous about parenting a daughter, but still it's a compelling read that made me think.

message 4062: by Heidi (new)

Heidi The Ask is even better than TKONLG - loved it.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) That's strange, because I also have had By the Time You Read This, I'll Be Dead on hold for a long time. Either the book is really popular, or libraries only buy one copy.

I thought it was pretty bad. There are several stories going on, but some of them just get cut off, and the main story doesn't really make any sense. i didn't get what the reason of the story was.

Ashley ~twisted_illusions~ (twisted_illusions) | 6 comments I'm finally reading Fallen (Fallen, #1) by Lauren Kate

message 4068: by Laura (new)

Laura | 10 comments Absolution, by Jennifer Laurens. #3 in the trilogy. I wrote an entry on this series in recommendations. Loving it!

I just finished Trickster's Girl by Hilari Bell & I really don't suggest it to anyone...

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments Vincint wrote: "Im reading a book called cut by Patricia McCormic"

I thought Cut by Patricia McCormick was o.k., I liked Willow by Julia Hoban better in terms of books about self-mutilation.

message 4074: by Crystal (new)

Crystal Jewell Killeen (ckilleen24) | 40 comments I am trying to finish City of Glass (The Mortal Instruments, #3) by Cassandra Clare . I started reading it about a month ago and had to put it down, I just couldn't get into it. I picked it back up the other day, and I am really enjoying it.

message 4075: by [deleted user] (new)

Just finished Glimmer (Zellie Wells, #2) by Stacey Wallace Benefiel . What should I read next?

message 4076: by Jason (new)

Jason (foreverjuly) | 176 comments I'm reading Milrose Munce and the Den of Professional Help, and I laughed so loud when it said the horses's name was Sociopath. Ha ha!

message 4077: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Shannen you have a lot of books in your tbr pile! I go for The Book Thief by Markus Zusak , On the Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta , The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness , or Poison Study (Study, #1) by Maria V. Snyder . All excellent choices IMO.

message 4078: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (cattymccat) | 95 comments @Shannen: I suggest Clockwork Angel!!!!

Shannen, Was it any good? I want to read this series, but I can't get it at my library. Is it worth buying?

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Just started listening to Bloody Jack. Strong accent for an audiobook but it adds to the voice.

November will probably be mainly audiobooks for me. NanoWriMo and all!

message 4081: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Bloody Jack on audio is SO awesome. I just finished the 3rd book on audio today :)

message 4082: by Gwennie (last edited Nov 04, 2010 05:27PM) (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I'm finishing Stephen King's book The Long Walk. The Long Walk by Stephen King

It is crazy.

After that it will be City of Bones.

I could have sworn that not too long ago someone said the first book was free as an audiobook download. Does anyone know about this or where to possibly find it for free? I would like to get a good audiobook for my housecleaning time.

Lani (crahfty) | 253 comments Jackie wrote: "@Alyssa... I have "Forget You" on my TBR as well and lucky someone says she loved it! Was it really that great?"

I own Forget You and thought it was ok. I didn't like it as much as Echols Going Too Far. I had an issue with the MC in Forget You, but chalked it up to "stupid girl" syndrome. It's a light read.

message 4085: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Stacia it was only free for a month and I think it is over now. I got mine from the library. If your library has an overdrive account the first two books are available on there (I requested them and they added them - yay!).

message 4086: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I took Kate's advice to sign up for Audible off Amazon and got the first 2 books for free. I could cancel now but I have other thigns I want. I'm debating...

message 4087: by Heidi (last edited Nov 05, 2010 10:00AM) (new)

Heidi Wendy I joined and got two free audiobooks as well - I also bought one for the discounted price (like $12). I loved all three of my choices On the Jellicoe Road, Soulless, and Under the Jolly Roger . I closed my account as audible is not compatible with my mp3 phone that I use (bummer). I had to borrow my hubby's ipod daily to listen to my audiobooks, but they were all worth it. I wish their prices were a little like Netflix's, as they are just a little too high for me right now.

message 4088: by [deleted user] (new)

Amanda - I like the series but I love that genre and I'm an easy reader. I downloaded them for my Kindle and they were about $2 each.

I've started reading The Synthesis (Powerless, #1) by Jason Letts by our very own Jason Letts. :)

I think I'm going to go cancel too. I got what I wanted off it... I'm so wishy washy.

Kurukka Just finished The Knife of Never Letting Go, review here : http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/... [SPOILERS]

I haven't received the sequels yet, and I have work to do this week end, so I don't know if I'll be reading until next week, but if I do, I think I will continue with The Body Finder.

message 4092: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Welcome Carmel! I heart Melina Marchetta. Both Finnikin of the Rock and On the Jellicoe Road are among my favorites of all time.

message 4093: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I have a hold on the audiobook for Saving Francesca at the library - hope to get it in the next week or so.

message 4094: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Ooohhhh Carmel, you don't know how jealous I am that you've already read the Piper's Son when we won't get it until March :) But any Melina Marchetta fan is a friend of mine.

message 4095: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) I didn't know that about the book. To be honest the only thing I know about Australia is what I've read from the books. And that so far, they have some pretty awesome authors. And, if the books are true to life, I would have loved being a teen in Australia.

I read books out of order all the time. I have no problem picking up book 15, then 6, then 20, then 1. Though I make it hard on myself as I know it'd be better if I started from the beginning. Reading out of order adds spice, don't you think?

PS. I'm looking up Pete Murray now.

message 4096: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (ashleymabus) Hello Everyone, My name is Ashley and I'm currently reading Whisper by Phoebe Kitanidis and Hearts At Stake by Alyxandra Harvey.
