I just read Beastly by Alex Flinn and really liked it. I usually don't go in for the fairytale stories. Now I'm reading Catherine Coulter's new book The Valcourt Heiress which I won from firstreads.

Just finished
. It was my first Dessen book and I felt it was okay. I was really in the mood for a really good romance and there wasn't really enough. It was mostly about her relationship with her mom and I wanted more cute scenes with Wes! oh well. Not sure what I'll pick up next...
Okay. so I've had
sitting on my bookshelf for forever so I think it's about time I started it. It'll probably take me a while, though, because school is intense right now. :(

. My first impression was right. Interesting and odd. I'd like to add that it wasn't very clearly written and I thought the author went a little overboard trying to convince us that these boys were scared (and a butt-load of other emotions). In my opinion, less is more.

I skipped Dark Lover because my library didn't have it, but even starting with book 2 Lover Eternal I was hooked.
I just finished Lover Enshrined. I'm bound and determined to finish the series, so I'm moving on to Lover Avenged and Lover Mine which happen to be sitting in my car taunting me, lol
Wendy wrote: "I finished Linger, and today I'm starting The Hunger Games."Those books are great! Looking forward to hear your thoughts :-)

I tried
awhile back (my first and only Dessen) and gave up. I could care less about either of the lead characters and they seemed very one dimensional.
Mandi wrote: "I just read Beastly by Alex Flinn and really liked it. I usually don't go in for the fairytale stories. I was a little skeptic at first because of the fairytale thing but I really liked it in the end!
Heidi I wrote: "I tried

Yes, it is like all her other books, same characters just different names and different scenarios but it was cute. it made me happy when I finished reading it. I have The Truth about Forever in my stack to read hopefully this week, I have heard good things about it. I am reading Someone Like You this week, I don't think it is as good as her others, but I got it free so I can't complain then.
I am STILL STILL STILL hacking away at Clockwork Angel. I think I am going to take a week, sit down and read it front to back, start to finish without any other book interruptions.
Amanda wrote: "Heidi I wrote: "I tried

For unknown reasons I was reluctant to read it but when I did, I was really surprised. It's a nice story and I enjoyed it!
The Truth about Forever is my favorite, followed by Along for the Ride and Someone Like You.
I feel like that about Jennifer Echols. After 4 books I just had to accept that I don't like her writing style...
I'm starting to feel the same way about Robin McKinley, Jessica. I am going to give her one more shot and if it's a fail again I'll not read her stuff again.
Never read a Dessen book before. They always seemed too... cutesy, but it could just be me judging a book by it's cover.
I have never had the chance to read Dessen, but I agree with Wendy they just look to cutsy so just never picked one up. If I find one at my library I might pick one up and try it. Not a huge Echols fan either and I have never heard of Robin McKinley.
Jaime wrote: "I've just started reading Inkheart. It's good so far, about a little girl who loves to read books and her father who is a bookbinder. Starts off with great intrigue."the second book is pretty good as well. I started to read the third but stopped. I didn't have the time... :(
I try to fit in a cutsey, happy story between all the other paranormal serial killer stuff I normally read. It seems I can usually find Sarah Dessen books pretty easily either free, borrowed or cheap. I've tried Nicholas Sparks and Danielle Steel and Janet Evanovich. I am always looking for recommendations on happy books, it seems there is always an abundance of psyco killer vampire novels.
Yeah, Sarah Dessen books are perfect if you're looking for cutsey, happy stories. For that same reason I'm going to read
next.I really liked
. Something funny for a change. The mediator series
are also really great. Paranormal theme, nice love story and not as dark as some other books are :-)
Amanda you should start reading cozy mysteries. I read them in between YA and general fiction as "light" reads. If you like Stephanie Plum, you would like other cozies.
I love the chick lit books! Sarah Dessen, Elizabeth Scott, and Jennifer Echols are some of my favorite authors. I get emotionally invested when I read so I find it difficult to read books like The Hunger Games very often. It sounds like I'm the opposite of some of you guys-I read mostly light books with the occassional heavy read inbetween, lol
Heidi I wrote: "Hey, Ms. Dessen is just not my thing ladies :)"Me either, my first and only attempt was This Lullaby, it's meant to be her best book as well but the main character really annoyed me. Needless to say I couldn't finish it.
I wasn't fond of Jennifer Echols. I read all of the Stephanie Plum series, loved books 3-12, then it went downhill. I am digging for another funny mystery series but haven't had any luck yet. I will try Elizabeth Scott. I usually stick to YA for happy books, I have a hard time finding decent adult books that aren't part of a series. There are so many good books coming out on this year and early next year on my list, most are parts of a series, I will be busy busy busy.I started Kelley Armstrong series, Women of the Otherworld. I am on book 6, but I keep skipping around since they keep adding new characters. I wish it was just the main characters throught the books. i might be ditching it soon.
Amanda if you are looking for fun mystry book try the Agatha Raisin book by MC Beaton, think theres about 20 now but they're all pretty good. There are adult btw.
I'm currently reading Flutter, the third book in the My Blood Approves series by Amanda Hocking. She is a self-published young author. The books are Twilight rip-offs, have several errors in them (using then instead of than) and the protaganist has issues but dang if I can't quit reading them! Fictional crack I tell ya!
Natasha wrote: "Amanda if you are looking for fun mystry book try the Agatha Raisin book by MC Beaton, think theres about 20 now but they're all pretty good. There are adult btw."I love Agatha! She is so prickly.
Shannen wrote: "I'm currently reading Flutter, the third book in the My Blood Approves series by Amanda Hocking. She is a self-published young author. The books are Twilight rip-offs, have several...""I can't quit reading them". Imagine that!
Amanda here are some cozies I recommend (besides Agatha Raisin, which I also recommend):
,

,
,

Shannen, I don't like those Psy-changling books but I keep reading those too. I don't even know why.
Peep wrote: "Shannen, I don't like those Psy-changling books but I keep reading those too. I don't even know why."You are both whacked!
I don't dislike these books. I almost stopped reading the first one when I was about one-third of the way through but by that time, I had to know what happened to the MC. Some of the grammar should make me hate them but I keep reading. I will say that I have a crush on Jack, the main male vamp in the books (I know that's shocking, Heidi), and I want to know how the love story ends. In my defense, the books have pretty high ratings. So there. ;)
And yes, I'm totally whacked!

This is one of my first times on here, I joined a long time ago, but never spent a lot of time here until lately. I don't remember so much selection of teen/young adult books back when I was a teen. Up until recently I never thought of even looking in that section, now I go there first! Right now I'm reading Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare. A book I defintely would not have picked up a few years ago, but I am really liking it.
Welcome Maggie61!And I'm currently listening to Anne of the Island and to the part where she says no to Gilbert the first time and just like the first time I read it, my heart is breaking for him. I love this book!
I loved Gilbert!I just finished Hunger Games (Definitely Team Peeta here). I'm now starting Catching Fire.

Maybe because it was the first ones of her I read and I still thought she had originality then.
Heidi I wrote: "I tried
