Faith McKay (faithmckay) | 15 comments I finally started The Fault in Our Stars by John Green last night. I put it off because I just wasn't ready for the tears.

I loved Looking For Alaska, because it was really funny, and this book is even funnier--I suspect it's to make up for also being even sadder.

You're not the only one! I wound up putting Lirael aside about a third of the way into it. If it gets better, let us know!

Lesilee Just finished Splintered by A.G. Howard . Wow. It was good, yes, and I did enjoy the author's writing...however, I don't truly know if I love it or not. I'll have to think about it. Meanwhile I am reading Gravity (The Taking, #1) by Melissa West and finally finishing Seraphina (Seraphina, #1) by Rachel Hartman . I love it so far, I just keep getting distracted with other books!

message 13731: by Caryn (new)

Caryn (carynreads) I'm finishing the Uglies series with Extras (Uglies, #4) by Scott Westerfeld . What do you think of the last book? Necessary?

message 13732: by Marie (new)

Marie | 16 comments I'm reading The Iron Daughter (The Iron Fey, #2) by Julie Kagawa . I like it but like in the first book, I have trouble relating to the main characters. They feel a little too much two-dimensional to me. Specially the main character Meghan. Also, while I enjoyed the romance, it still feel a little rushed and the feelings overwhelming and exaggerated at some points.

Beastly is a really cute and fun book. I don't know if you've heard of or seen the movie, but the book was way better. It's pretty light tho. I've read a couple different books by Alex Flinn now and light-hearted, funny fairytale re-tellings are really her thing. So as long as you don't expect some intense, passionate, thought provoking novel, you'll be good. That being said, it's one of my favorite books and I love the author. Her books are clean and sweet and very humorous, imo :)

Les, I was contemplating buying Splintered, but I'm stingy with my book money. Do you think it's one for buying? Would you read it multiple times??

Also, I loved Gravity and Seraphina!

I don't know. Would I buy it....maybe...if it was on sale...I don't know that I would read it multiple times. Except if she writes a sequel, then maybe I would read it again to remember the story. I did like it, as I said above, the story was great, and you may love it, but if you can find it in your library first, that would be my reccomendation before you spend money on it. I actually read an ARC version of it.
Oh, and I remember that you reccommended Seraphina to me! Thanks! I am almost done, and I love it! Gravity is really good too.

okay, Meg Cabot is hit or miss for me but if you're going to mock Twilight through the whole book don't write a rip off including the TSTL MC's final 'sacrifice'.
