Any of the Rick Riordan YA books are really good. I enjoyed both Percy Jackson, the new series AND the Kane Chronicles. I haven't read one that wasn't a fun read yet!

Juliann Whicker | 131 comments I just listened to Spellbinder by Helen Stringer on our very long drive and it was absolutely fun. (except the cd that was scratched to bits) I now have a british accent in my head as I write this. I sound ever so posh;)

Tina ♥ Bookaholic (martinabookaholic) I've started with Ultraviolet (Ultraviolet, #1) by R.J. Anderson today and though its kind of depressing, it's really thrilling

Bethany | 578 comments I just finished What Happened to Goodbye by Sarah Dessen . This was the first book by Sarah Dessen that I've read and I absolutely adored it. Very, very good book.

so, the first two books in the new series are out - do you know how much there will be?
When I know right, then the fist series had 5 books in it - am I right?

But I thought the new series is also about Percy and than he isn't even in the first book. Then who's the main character? a boy or a girl?

thanks for the recommendation, but what are the kane chronicles - haven't heard of it so far.
But is it YA or a child book again. though I like Percy Jackson, I still prefer Aduld or YA books, because I 'm a romantic typ of girl and I just need some couples and love in books :D

message 11763: by Kristina (new)

Kristina (kristinalawhead) I'm rereading the Sweet Valley High series with my best friend haha! Don't judge! :)

message 11764: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) The main character in the first book is Jason. He's pretty awesome, and Percy is still kinda in the story... kinda. They're really good, you'll like them.

message 11765: by Tina ♥ Bookaholic (new)

Tina ♥ Bookaholic (martinabookaholic) so, if I get that right Wendy - the new guy Jason is the 'hot guy' who'll have the romance in the book and Percy is the smart guy who'll show up but isn't the main character. right?

message 11766: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Normally you'd be so right, but I can happily say; nope, not at all! LOL!

I can't say too much without giving it away.

message 11767: by Tina ♥ Bookaholic (new)

Tina ♥ Bookaholic (martinabookaholic) Jason's not hot but he's the main character?? WTF? oh, sorry... but I want a hot bunny boy for the main characters... otherwise it don't work for me :D

message 11768: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) LMAO! He's not NOT hot... He's attractive of course, lol. I just meant that the books aren't really written with a token 'hot' guy.

What I meant was, that the outline isn't like you stated.

message 11769: by Tina ♥ Bookaholic (new)

Tina ♥ Bookaholic (martinabookaholic) okay, now I see and know what you mean! Took a while but now I get it! :D
thanks :)

alright, but I guess after the series with Percy Jackson, I need a breadk of YA and child books and make a trip to adult books... and then I'll continue with the god's child again :)

haha...you're so funny! Jason actually is supposed to be really attractive and there IS a love story there. But, Percy will show up again in the second book. It's really hard to explain it all without giving away major plotlines of the series, but they are awesome and you'll love them. I believe Rick Riordan is going to make it a series of five books just like the PJ series.

message 11772: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) LOL, see, you said more then me.

Jason is attractive, so is Percy. I just meant that these aren't really like, that kind of book. His being attractive doesn't really have much of a bearing on the story.

I kind of like them like that, though. In a sea full of romantic YA's.

:) I agree. It's refreshing. I actually really love the series because of the mythology and how the author makes it all so humorous...I just love it. I love PJ!

but now I'm totally up to date and now what you are talking... so I guess I really have to read fast so I can keep on with the new series.
And yes, I just love romance, but I also like it when it's funny and there is a good plot. And like you two sounds, the boook must be awesome! :)
thanks girls

I have heard great things about this book.

So far, to me, it's reading very much like One Hundred Years of Solitude, but it's shorter, making it a little easier to take, I think. It's an interesting look at blame and memory.

message 11784: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Thanks Theo, I was not a fan of One Hundred Years (I am embarrassed to type this, but well there it is). So that is good to know.

The FountainPenDiva, Old school geek chick and lover of teddy bears (thefountainpendiva) Just found two here on Goodreads: Farsighted features a blind hero and an Indian heroine and Darwin's Children features a teen girl with superpowers. I like the multiracial aspect of both books (something the YA genre really needs to get more on board with). Farsighted is available for download here for 99 cents, so if you're looking for something refreshing, check it out.

OMG, and give Scott Tracey's Witch Eyes a shot too. Amazing book featuring a gay protagonist.

Jessica (BlogEared Books) (blogearedbooks) | 52 comments Brandi wrote: "I just finished Every You, Every Me by David Levithan and now I'm starting Let It Snow by John Green."

what did you think of every you every me???

message 11788: by Brandi (new)

Brandi I liked Every You, Every Me. I didn't love that about half of the book was crossed out but I just pretended that it wasn't because I didn't think it really added anything. It took me a little bit to get into it, mostly because I was kind of confused about what was going on, but I ended up really interested. It was a very quick read.

Done (however I am puzzled about how you could vote against someone from one of your favorite books!) I really liked Okay for Now on audio. At first I was like oh this is just ok (when he is describing the birds in full detail), but then I loved it.

message 11799: by Cassi aka Snow White (new)

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Well Sophie & Luna would have been my first choices. Yet they are against each other.

Did you read my argument for Luna? Honestly I feel like she's the more positive message though Sophie would be a blast to hang out with. (Plus I did love Luna first)

message 11800: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I just finished the audio of Blood Red Road (Dustlands, #1) by Moira Young and I really enjoyed it. It wasn't my favorite in the genre, but it was a great audio performance and pretty creative.
