Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) I am listening to The Emerald Atlas (The Books of Beginning #1) by John Stephens the narrator is Jim Dale and he is amazing! He does terrific voices and makes it so much fun to listen too, its almost like being right there in the middle of everything. He does a lot of children and middle grade books.

Just wait! It gets even better the farther into the series you go! There's 14 books, then there's a novel called Night's Child that you have to read. :) (It finishes everything and ends it beautifully.)

I just listened to Peter and the Starcatchers (Peter and the Starcatchers, #1) by Dave Barry that Jim Dale read and I loved it. He is an amazing narrator, I felt like I could actually see the characters while listening to him.

Yeah he is awesome. There is this crabby woman character in the beginning and she is sucking on a piece of candy...he was making a voice that sounded just like she was sucking on candy and trying to talk, and it had me laughing so hard..it was great! I seen that he was the narrator for the book you read...was it a good book? I have it to read but not gotten to it yet. :)

Hehe, don't be intimidated! The books of the Sweep/Wicca series are rather short. I'd say about 140 or so pages Stormi. Book 15 is about 300 pages or so. :)

message 10371: by Cassi aka Snow White (new)

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Finished Variant by Robison Wells , I liked it. I'm going to have to think about how to review it because it's one of those books where half of it's better than the other half and that's always hard.

Not sure what I'm going to start next. I have a few Kindle books I bought during the sale the other day. Leaning towards Yarn Harlot The Secret Life of a Knitter by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee or The Magician's Elephant by Kate DiCamillo is my second choice.

message 10372: by Theo (new)

Theo I'm starting An Abundance of Katherines by John Green . This will be my first John Green. So many people have told me how great he is, so hopefully it will measure up to my expectations.

message 10373: by Linda (new)

Linda (lindajoysingleton) | 41 comments I enjoyed it more than his other books. There's a bit of a mystery which kept my interest.

message 10374: by Cheryl (new)

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I started Yarn Harlot The Secret Life of a Knitter by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee after all. Love me some crazy knitters. Someday I have ambitions of having a huge stash of yarn that I have to swim through to function.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Can't wait to see what you think of that one Heidi. I have a copy but haven't read it yet.

message 10381: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments I am still reading Queen of the Dead (The Ghost and the Goth, #2) by Stacey Kade but I put it on hold because I finally received my copy of Forever (Wolves of Mercy Falls, #3) by Maggie Stiefvater . I started Forever and I already want to put it down. I was hopeing for a happier book, it's just sooooo sad so far. I've managed to hit page 31 and I just feel dread to how I think the story will play out. I've read other peoples reviews too, so my hopes are diminishing.

message 10383: by Ginny (new)

Ginny I'm reading Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen. I caught one of my students (7th grade) reading it during my class in the spring, so I knew it had to be good! I just started it yesterday, and it seems promising. Has anyone else read it? Thoughts?

Flipped is one of those he said/she said type books. In my opinion, the girl character was more likable and unique, but the boy character was easier to relate to. I can't remember much about the book since I read it several years ago, but I hope that you enjoy it.

If you enjoy this book, you might want to check out John Green's YouTube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/vlogbrothers He and his brother have video blogged back and forth for a few years. John talks some about his books, and the videos are often funny.

Julie,

Yes, I like the fact that it has a dual narrator. I think that's something young adults need to be exposed to more often because point of view is often a difficult concept for a young mind or an inexperienced reader to grasp. I also really like that there is a male and female protagonist, because it will initially appeal to both genders in the classroom. I'll remember what you said about the female character being more relatable and see if I agree with you as I go along!

Thanks!

Ginny
