Young Adult Fiction for Adults discussion
What are you reading now?
I am listening to
the narrator is Jim Dale and he is amazing! He does terrific voices and makes it so much fun to listen too, its almost like being right there in the middle of everything. He does a lot of children and middle grade books.
Just started
this morning. Love it! Especially since Miss Michigan is from Flint which is where I live and where I am sitting right now (Smaller Motor City now "Repossessed City".) The sarcasm gives me joy.

Just wait! It gets even better the farther into the series you go! There's 14 books, then there's a novel called Night's Child that you have to read. :) (It finishes everything and ends it beautifully.)

There is 14 books! Oh goodness, I was thinking about checking out this series but now I am intimidated..lol ugh.

that Jim Dale read and I loved it. He is an amazing narrator, I felt like I could actually see the characters while listening to him.

There is this crabby woman character in the beginning and she is sucking on a piece of candy...he was making a voice that sounded just like she was sucking on candy and trying to talk, and it had me laughing so hard..it was great! I seen that he was the narrator for the book you read...was it a good book? I have it to read but not gotten to it yet. :)
It was wonderful and my kids really liked it too. It is a different take on Peter Pan. I think I like this version better.

Hehe, don't be intimidated! The books of the Sweep/Wicca series are rather short. I'd say about 140 or so pages Stormi. Book 15 is about 300 pages or so. :)
I also bought Emerald Atlas audio. Loved the book so much I want to listen to it too. This is great for Harry Potter fans.
Finished
, I liked it. I'm going to have to think about how to review it because it's one of those books where half of it's better than the other half and that's always hard. Not sure what I'm going to start next. I have a few Kindle books I bought during the sale the other day. Leaning towards
or
is my second choice.
I'm starting
. This will be my first John Green. So many people have told me how great he is, so hopefully it will measure up to my expectations.
I just finished
and I loved it, it was amazing!!Now reading
After that it will be
or
I haven't decided yet!
I started
after all. Love me some crazy knitters. Someday I have ambitions of having a huge stash of yarn that I have to swim through to function.
I am still reading
but I put it on hold because I finally received my copy of
. I started Forever and I already want to put it down. I was hopeing for a happier book, it's just sooooo sad so far. I've managed to hit page 31 and I just feel dread to how I think the story will play out. I've read other peoples reviews too, so my hopes are diminishing.
I just started reading
and I'm interested to see how I like that because I have a copy of the sequel as a Galley. I've seen it around though, so I'm hoping it's good!
I'm reading Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen. I caught one of my students (7th grade) reading it during my class in the spring, so I knew it had to be good! I just started it yesterday, and it seems promising. Has anyone else read it? Thoughts?
Ginny wrote: "I'm reading Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen. I caught one of my students (7th grade) reading it during my class in the spring, so I knew it had to be good! In my opinion, the girl character was more likable and unique, but the boy character was easier to relate to. I can't remember much about the book since I read it several years ago, but I hope that you enjoy it.
Theo wrote: "I'm starting

John talks some about his books, and the videos are often funny.
I am finally reading The Help by Kathryn Stockett. I am probably the only person on GoodReads who hasn't read it! 60 pages in and I'm wondering what took me soooo long to pick this book up!!!
Amanda wrote: "I am still reading

Julie wrote: "Ginny wrote: "I'm reading Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen. I caught one of my students (7th grade) reading it during my class in the spring, so I knew it had to be good! I just started it yesterday..."Julie,
Yes, I like the fact that it has a dual narrator. I think that's something young adults need to be exposed to more often because point of view is often a difficult concept for a young mind or an inexperienced reader to grasp. I also really like that there is a male and female protagonist, because it will initially appeal to both genders in the classroom. I'll remember what you said about the female character being more relatable and see if I agree with you as I go along!
Thanks!
Ginny

Jennifer wrote: "Reading
