Rebecca | 97 comments I just finished The Book Thief by Markus Zusak . At first I didn't like it and didn't understand what all the fuss was about. But about 40% the way through it, it started to pick up. By the end I really enjoyed it!

Now what to read next....

message 9808: by Wendy Darling (new)

Wendy Darling (wendydarling) | 193 comments I read Hearts at Stake (The Drake Chronicles, #1) by Alyxandra Harvey , which was just okay in my opinion, and Misfit by Jon Skovron which was SO not okay.

I'm in the middle of Tiger's Curse (Tiger Saga, #1) by Colleen Houck right now. I'm really intrigued by the story, but the writing is not very good. :/ Everyone raves about book 2 though, so I'm hoping some of this stuff gets smoothed out.

Natasha | 24 comments I've just finished Ultraviolet by R.J. Anderson , really liked it. Never saw much of it coming either which was a refreshing change!

I want to start Matched (Matched, #1) by Ally Condie tonight, but I know my boyfriend has a copy of Uncommon Criminals (Heist Society, #2) by Ally Carter waiting for me his.

Lisa Wadsworth (djtjmom) | 39 comments I am really enjoying the first one..even think about it when I am not reading....does it stay as interesting through the rest of the books?

message 9814: by Julie (new)

Julie I just finished Clockwork Angel (Infernal Devices #1) by Cassandra Clare and I like it so much better than The Mortal Instruments (so far at least). I'm really not excited about having to wait until December for Clockwork Prince (Infernal Devices #2) by Cassandra Clare though.

message 9821: by Wendy Darling (new)

Wendy Darling (wendydarling) | 193 comments Yay for Infernal Devices fans! I just love the setting, the characters, the magic, the romance...everything. I liked TMI too, but it's Tessa/Will/Jem and Victorian England that make me a gushing fan girl. :)

Victoria,
It sort of reminded me of The Bodyfinder a little, except every dead person that I believe is murdered has a unique smell and the smell won't go away till she finds out what happens to that person. It wasn't to bad, but I think I read it right after I read The bodyfinder so I think I should have waited.

message 9823: by Holly (new)

Holly | 108 comments finally finished City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments #4) by Cassandra Clare after about a week and a half. i just wasnt rushing to read it. i liked it but i was really hoping i would have loved it.

message 9825: by Lloyd (last edited Jun 30, 2011 09:43AM) (new)

Lloyd | 415 comments Last day being employed today. Other than the money, I'm not going to miss it.

Finished Young Samurai The Ring of Earth (Young Samurai, #4) by Chris Bradford yesterday and started Young Samurai The Ring of Water (Young Samurai, #5) by Chris Bradford . Love the era and subject matter and need the escapism.

Other than reading, it's now spending the next month selling stuff down to the essentials and moving. (Something my wife and I have been wanting to do for years.)

message 9826: by Stormi (StormReads) (new)

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) I am a fan of the Infernal Devices series, and not ever read the TMI series. Just never got around to it, maybe some day.

Lloyd,

Good luck on your selling and moving! I am glad you are doing something you have been wanting to do. I am going to have to check out those Samurai books they look interesting!

Today I tried to read Nerd Girls The Rise of the Dorkasaurus by Alan Lawrence Sitomer the first paragraph sort of grossed me out so now I am not sure about it..LOL Has anyone read it? (its a netgalley)

message 9827: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Carmel wrote: "Good luck Lloyd!!"

I second that!

message 9828: by Julie (new)

This is why I loved these books. They are stand alones and the story in Enternal is. Very different from most. Vampire stories. I just started blessed and it is bringing both books together

message 9832: by Stormi (StormReads) (new)

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) Okay, so I have decided to put Nerd Girls aside and read Tyger Tyger (Goblin Wars, #1) by Kersten Hamilton instead. The other one was just not appealing to me. :)

I read a really good action Thriller (not YA) called The Samaritan by Stephen Besecker for an one who likes that genre. :)

message 9838: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I'm already over halfway through it. It's really deep. I feel like it is definitely a story as a metaphor. I love 'R', and how he is with Julie is touching. (I also love his prose.)

I'm hoping to finish it tonight.

Sorry to hear about your job loss, Lloyd. It is scary. I got laid off 3 years ago and like you, I only miss the money! My husband is still working, so we are getting by. On the bright side, I'm getting to be a stay-at-home mom for the first time and getting to read more and do volunteer work. Hope everything works out for you.

Miranda,

Not really or at least I didn't think so. To me it was nothing like Twilight (I didn't really care for Twilight)
