All this Sherman Alexie talk made me curious if the library had any other of his books on CD.So I found
narrated by the author of course. It's short stories/poems. Last time I listened to a collection on audiobook it didn't work for me. However, so far I'm really enjoying this one. I really love Sherman Alexie's voice & accent. And since it's all about the Native American experience it feels more interconnected than the other collection I tried.
I'm currently reading Breaking Dawn . I love Percy Jackson though!
I'm currently reading The Forest of Hands and Teeth. What an awesome, chilling book! Very postapocalyptic and well-written.
Vampire Academy
Still in a series kinda mood after finishing The Hunger Games trilogy. Thought I'd check it out.

Try Wake, Fade, Gone
or
The Summoning, The Awakening, The Reckoning

(I just looked it up)Ooooh, and it's narrated by Adam Beach! Yay."
My Overdrive has that one and I need to get to it - it has been in my wishlist for over a year.
Cassi (is secretly listening to Heidi SHHH) wrote: "Chaos Walking trilogy is a nice Hunger Games chaser."The more I think about it, I am beginning to think I enjoyed Chaos Walking better than the Hunger Games. I think if I had read Chaos Walking first it would have been no contest but as it was I read them after Hunger Games, which I was using as a gauge for dystopian type YA.
Cheryl wrote: "I'm currently reading The Forest of Hands and Teeth. What an awesome, chilling book! Very postapocalyptic and well-written."That's what I thought! The general consensus is that people didn't like it very much, at least from what I've gathered from the groups I'm in but I really liked it and thought it was super creepy!
In some ways I think Chaos Walking is the better series. I'm sad more people don't realize that. There are some things that I really enjoyed about Hunger Games that Chaos Walking liked (Peeta being swoon-worthly for example. Chaos Walking wasn't the swooning type of book).
I feel like I read a nice progression of Dystopian. Started with Uglies, then Hunger Games, then Chaos Walking. But I agree, Chaos Walking series may very well be better.

It was creepy (the moans!), I just couldn't stand Mary.

I agree that while I loved Hunger Games, I think that Chaos Walking was the better trilogy. I still can't believe the emotion that that trilogy pulled from the depths of my soul.
Wendy F wrote: "I agree that while I loved Hunger Games, I think that Chaos Walking was the better trilogy. There's outfits, stylists, reality TV, romance, FLASH.
Chaos Walking is more heart wrenching and not as "fun"
Wendy F wrote: "I agree that while I loved Hunger Games, I think that Chaos Walking was the better trilogy. It was such a haunting series that there are times I think about it and I get googesbumps. I really do wish more people knew about this series!
I hate trying to convince people to read it, because when I try to describe what it's about they always look at me like I'm crazy. No matter how much I tell them that it's excellent, they just won't believe me.

Yeah I have pretty taken to shoving into peoples hands and giving them as little information as I can about and tell them things like "You just have to read this!" or "You have no idea what you are missing out on." I can't believe I have to wait until September for "A Monster Calls"!!!!!
I convinced someone I know online (via webseries not goodreads) to read them. He really liked the first and planned to pick up the second. He was a slow reader so it took him forever. I'd actually forgotten that I recommended it by the time he thanked me for the rec.
I am reading Shiver, I know it's quite popular. It's an easy read and something great for summer. How do you add the pic of the books?
Click where it says "add book/author" above the comment box then click cover at the bottom of the screen that pops up.
Well, I can gladly say that I have already read the awesomeness that is the Chaos Walking trilogy. Now, if I could only finish the other bazillion books I'm trying to read! :P
I just finished the Chaos Walking series and while I didn't cry at all, it was also an emotional roller-coaster for me. I think I was too shocked during the sad parts to cry over them. I love books that drag you through everything from being brilliantly happy to downright heart-broken and from insanely hopeful to gut-wrenchingly horrified. It was a great series.
Starting
. I really don't know why. I did like
a lot but I don't know if this is the book for my mood. It was in the middle display at the library and I just grabbed it.
Thank you, Thank you to everyone that recommended
! I just read it in one sitting and the time flew by. I am still on my book high! You guys always have the best tips. Also, I wanted to stick up for the Hunger Games trilogy. I've read the first two in the Choas Walking series and while they are well done. I find them to be less enjoyable than Hunger Games. I love a good dystopia as much as the next person but with Chaos walking it seemed like the odds were too insurmountable. Poor Todd and Viola just can't catch a break. As I was reading them it felt unrealistic that that many things could go wrong.
At least in Hunger games there are moments of where you think Katniss might actually beat the Capitol. ( not that it was a perfect series by any means) I guess I'll have to reserve judgement on Chaos walking until after I finish Monster of Men. I just find myself dragging my heels on starting it...
Kate, if you want another cute romance that similar to Anna and the French Kiss, you might give
a try. It's such a sweet and believable relationship, and it's perfect for the beach! After all this Chaos Walking talk, I am definitely bumping it up my list. Wow.
Don't get me wrong, I love The Hunger Games. It's definitely high up my list of favorite books. It's just that in terms of ripping my guts out, the award went to Chaos Walking, ESPECIALLY Monsters of Men. I didn't realize how in love with the trilogy I was until I read the final book. I do see your point about how Todd and Viola don't seem to catch a break. My sister read it, and while she said that she thought it was a well written and creative book, it was hard for her to read because it was too much for her.
I don't think any of us are saying we don't like Hunger Games. I love Hunger Games and have decided to throw caution to the wind and be a fangirl about the new Hunger Games movie. It just seems like everyone thinks HG is the best dystopian and I think Chaos Walking deserves to be in the conversation as well. Honestly I'm so glad that both books were written and that this group led me to them. They're powerful works of fiction.

So excited..I just found
at a thrift store for $2.50 Yea! I've been on the waiting list for too long at the library. It's another that's gotten a lot of buzz on this site so I am eager to get started.
Finished
. I actually didn't like it.Now I'm starting
, which I'm super excited to read because Julie Anne Peters is one of my favorite authors.
Just finished reading the Iron Fey series , cant wait to read what happens next in book #4 guess ill have to wait and see
I just finished
(5 stars). Going to be starting
in paper and
in audio. I have been loving my Sansa Clip+. All audiobook lovers need to have one. <3
You HAVE to listen to
! It's in Overdrive and it's so funny. It's more middle grade, but it is a very funny audiobook. I am impressed.

I read
last night--it was pretty entertaining, though not really something that's outstanding. My first time reading that author.I think I may read
next! Romance in outer space sounds kind of fun. ;)
Holaz everyone! I'm Annabell. I just finnished reading Something Deadly This Way Comes by Lisa Harrison. It's the third book in her Madison Avery series. I actually didnt know it was part three when I got it (got in advance book to review for the author). It was a great book though! Definitely recommend reading it. But FIRST read the first two books, Once Dead, Twice Shy and Early to Death, Early to Rise BEFORE reading Something Deadly This Way Comes because it'll be confusing a bit.
Gonna start reading Hereafter by Tara Hudson tonight.
Percy Jackson Series is also a FANTASTIC series to read!

I just thought that if I were from a wealthy family I might take offense to the hint that Privileged kids don't face the same trials that others do.
What kind of pain could a millionaire’s child be suffering? He had not been physically or sexually abused. He had not ever been hungry. He’d never seen one person strike another in anger. He’d never even been to a funeral.
So what was his problem?
“I want to be a writer,” he said. “But my father won’t let me. He wants me to be a soldier. Like he was.”
Not that I don't think that being forced into being a soldier isn't stressful and wrong. I think that it is a big deal to feel like your future is decided for him. I just think that it seems to down play the idea that someone from a wealthy family could have suffered from sexual or physical abuse... He very well could have seen someone strike another in physical anger.
I understand what he was trying to say, I commend him for his article, I just think that it could be argued that he's acting like it's unheard of for an abused teen to come from a rich family.
On another note, it makes me really really excited to finally get and read his book.
