Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Okay I'm buying it I guess.

I have all of her Toby Daye books. So I've given her a small amount of my money already.

I really enjoy this series. Its one that improves with each book. The first one I liked but wasn't sure I loved but then I've bought everyone since. I like Toby and the rich combo of the real world/fae world overlapping.

This looks really good Amanda! Let me know if you like it because they don't have it at my library so I'll have to buy it to read it."

I'm not too far into it yet, but I will post when I am finished. It'\ seems funny, but there are so many weird names, it's hard to keep them straight. The author put a name reference in the front of the book (like BDB) with correct pronounciations. But still...every character has a f'ed up name.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Maybe I should give Seanan McGuire another chance at some point. I only gave Rosemary and Rue 2 stars. But I'm very picky about my adult UF. There is so much great UF out there, but some of it can really drag. Then again, it was the first adult UF fae series I read after Fever and that one is just hard to top.

Does it really get better then?

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I've liked the last 2 installments best of all. I think the series gets better but I'm not huge into UF so I can't do much comparison. But I did think the first was the weakest of the books.

I really liked An Artificial Night (October Daye, #3) by Seanan McGuire which was book 3, maybe most of all.

I still have not read Fever but actually got the first from the library the other day.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Catie wrote: "Is it really adult? I thought it was YA. Well, I went ahead and bought it...I can hang in there for a so-so first book as long as they get better."

I'm the prude of the bunch. I mean it's an adult UF but it's not "adult" with warning signs. Yeah Toby is a grown-up and she probably cusses some (I don't recall specifics but that's how I imagine her reacting to a world without coffee...Toby likes coffee).

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I agree with the coffee love.

Fever book 1 is the slowest of the bunch, but I'm sure you've been warned already.

Shelia (strawberrypanic-ouran-furuba) I finally finished the monstrosity that was Betrayal (The Descendants #1) by Mayandree Michel . This is the first time I've given a book 1 star since Delirium (Delirium, #1) by Lauren Oliver

And Mac is annoying in the first one -- but she gets better I swear!

Wendy Darling (wendydarling) | 193 comments Cassi--yes, buy FEED!

I just finished Ultraviolet by R.J. Anderson , which I LOVED. If you like Madeleine L'Engle, you may enjoy this one.

I'm reading Daimon (Covenant, #0.5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout at the moment, we'll see how it goes!

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I did buy Feed. Seanan McGuire is always nice on twitter/her blog so when it comes down to wanting to spend money she's hard not to contribute towards.

Sadly, Betrayal underwhelmed me as well :( now reading

Games to Play After Dark by Sarah Gardner Borden , which is def not YA and very disturbing.

message 9015: by Jessica (new)

Jessica Catie: Anne of Windy Poplars (Anne of Green Gables, #4) by L.M. Montgomery is definitely my least favorite Anne book. It's been awhile since I've read it though.

I started North of Beautiful by Justina Chen Headley on the train to work today.

message 9016: by Daria (last edited May 27, 2011 04:27PM) (new)

Daria (dariadeptula) Anne of Windy Poplars (Anne of Green Gables, #4) by L.M. Montgomery and Anne of Ingleside (Anne of Green Gables, #6) by L.M. Montgomery were my least favorites out of the series. Ingleside isn't even really about Anne anymore.

I just looked at the series page for the Anne books and I was surprised. I never knew that the books weren't written in chronological order.

message 9017: by Shelia (new)

Shelia (strawberrypanic-ouran-furuba) Right now I'm deciding whether to start The Locket by Stacey Jay or Bloody Jack Being an Account of the Curious Adventures of Mary "Jacky" Faber, Ship's Boy (Bloody Jack, #1) by L.A. Meyer

And Emily - Are they really? I didn't know that either.

Read Bloody Jack! It's a really awesome series.

message 9019: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Bloody Jack!

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I want to say Bloody Jack BUT I REALLY want you to LISTEN to it on audiobook.

message 9021: by Jessie Leigh (new)

Jessie Leigh (msjessie) finished Games to Play After Dark, now starting my first Dessen: Lock and Key

message 9022: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments I started Five Flavors of Dumb by Antony John , it's o.k. not sure if I will finish it.
Also reading Hounded (Iron Druid Chronicles, #1) by Kevin Hearne still, I'm having a hard time getting into it yet, it's not bad, I think I'm too excited for my vacation weekend.
I am also re-reading BDB again..I'm on Lover Revealed (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #4) by J.R. Ward .

Rocks In The Belly by Jon Bauer

Awesomevegan (AKA JenReads) (awesomevegan) | 325 comments Currently reading If I Stay (If I Stay, #1) by Gayle Forman

I may do the pick 5 to decide what to read next.

I love Windy Poplars, it's one of my favorites in the series. Probably because Anne isn't looking for love anymore and she gets to grow up a little more. She's just so Anne-ish in that one and her scrapes and humor just kill me. I love it. Hope you enjoy it Catie.

Lloyd | 415 comments Catie wrote: "I'm so excited for more people to read Feed (Newsflesh, #1) by Mira Grant!"

I'm trying to clear up my currently-reading list to make room for it! Sounds like a nice break from the kind of stuff I've been reading lately.

You can't stand the thought of someone just reading those books, can you? :P

(They are REALLY well done audio books though.)

Heidi The last person who just read the first one (Wendy F) was not a huge fan Lloyd - it proved our point!

I love the narration so much. I love it when Jacky sings and how the audiobook brings the music to life. If it weren't for the songs I might not push the audiobook so much (not that its not excellent narration, its the best) but I feel like I would've missed out without actually hearing the songs.

Daria (dariadeptula) Last night I started Flowers in the Attic (Dollanganger, #1) by V.C. Andrews , it's one of those "everyone's read it but me" books.

That book freaked me out when I was young.

I don't know if I've "read" that book or just know what happens in it. But I know enough for me.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) That was my first taboo book and I remember thinking it was so out there at the time. Now, I've read far worse, but still have great memories of that book.

message 9039: by Daria (new)

Daria (dariadeptula) So far I'm a lot less disturbed than I thought I was going to be.

Hahaha I just noticed your name change! I am thinking the book probably doesn't hold up so I am interested to see what you think when you are done.

message 9041: by Brandi (new)

Brandi I'm reading Hold Me Closer, Necromancer by Lish McBride and enjoying it. I'm having a hard time getting it finished, but it's not because the plot isn't interesting me. I'm just having a hard time staying away from Netflix now that summer break has started.

Next up...Heidi you will be proud of me...I am going to try my very first audiobook. I've been making an effort to get on the treadmill more often so I am going to see if I can focus enough to get through an audiobook. I checked out The Astonishing Adventures of Fanboy and Goth Girl by Barry Lyga from the library.

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Heidi (don't listen to me) wrote: "The last person who just read the first one (Wendy F) was not a huge fan Lloyd - it proved our point!"

It's true! I didn't like it all. I'm going to listen on audio and try again.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I'm really enjoying The Lost Conspiracy by Frances Hardinge but I swear I'm the most distractible person in the world right now and it's a long book. I swear I can normally focus more than this.

message 9044: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jsills3) | 159 comments Going to try The Blending Time by Michael Kinch . Reviews are not great but we'll see.

I listened to that one on audiobook as well! I think the narrator did a great job, and I'm picky about audiobooks.

message 9046: by Shelia (new)

Shelia (strawberrypanic-ouran-furuba) Ooooo I need to read White Cat. I've only read two of Holly Black's books (Tithe and Valiant) but I liked them both.

Daria (dariadeptula) Finished Flowers in the Attic (Dollanganger, #1) by V.C. Andrews . It was disturbing and twisted, yet oddly captivating. I don't think I'll be able to immediately start reading something else.

message 9049: by Shelia (new)

Shelia (strawberrypanic-ouran-furuba) I agree about the disturbing and twisted part. For some reason, the fact that (view spoiler) freaked me out much more than the other disturbing stuff.
