I feel the same way! I'm getting my copy of What Happened to Goodbye tomorrow. I love Sarah Dessen! There have been a couple books that I didn't like as much as her others but I have enjoyed all of them.

message 8502: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Everlost was good. I haven't read Everwild yet, I will soon though.

message 8503: by Tish (new)

Tish | 207 comments I just finished The Book Thief by Markus Zusak (every bit as good as all the reviews claim) and started Anne of Green Gables (Anne of Green Gables, #1) by L.M. Montgomery . I didn't remember it being this laugh-out-loud funny--Anne cracks me up with her over-the-top melodrama.

message 8504: by Daria (new)

Daria (dariadeptula) Finished 13 Little Blue Envelopes (Little Blue Envelope, #1) by Maureen Johnson and am now reading The Last Little Blue Envelope (Little Blue Envelope, #2) by Maureen Johnson

Yay for both books!

message 8506: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Sherry Mia is annoying, but she is only 14 so you have to remember that. She does grow up and mature as the series goes along. I consider Meg Cabot's books as my guilty pleasure books.

message 8507: by Julie (new)

Julie I'm about halfway through Hold Me Closer, Necromancer by Lish McBride and I'm really liking it. It's different.

Cambria (cambria409) | 264 comments I just started Amaretto Flame (Eagleton Coven) by Sammie Spencer . It has been on my 'reading now' list for like two weeks but I just started it today.

Wendy Darling (wendydarling) | 193 comments Cambria wrote: "Oh and who is this Will Herondale In Victorian London????"

I will tell you, as long as you keep hands off the merchandise!! Hee hee.

It's Will from The Infernal Devices series, which is the prequel trilogy to Cassandra Clare's The Mortal Instruments. Have you read those? He is Jace Wayland's ancestor, though we don't know exactly how yet.

Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices, #1) by Cassandra Clare

message 8513: by Cambria (new)

Cambria (cambria409) | 264 comments Well, you surrendered Tucker, so you can have this one. hahaha

ugh, no. I am so behind on that reading. I read the first City of Bones(a few years ago when it was new) and I didn't really like it. I know *wince* but I keep hearing such great things so I am going to give it another try but I haven't picked them up yet. I have heard that both series of Clare's are really great.

message 8514: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Just when I got rid of Edward now all I hear about is Jace. Blurg!

You know, I liked TMI but I was never a huge fan either...but I absolutely LOVE Infernal Devices. I like Victorian England anyway, but I also thought the characters were more mature. (And I like Will better than Jace, Tessa better than Clary, Jem better than Simon, etc.) I read COFA with more interest after Clockwork Angel, but ID is definitely my favorite of the two series.

message 8518: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I have to read ID before I read CoFA.

They're not my favorite, but I will say that her writing got better with every book.

I was disappointed in the plagiarism scandal, but I still want to keep reading them.

I also don't mind Jace (way better then Edward). He's just not topping any list of mine.

message 8519: by Heidi (new)

Heidi He seems like an emo boy to me. Give me a man (like your Jamie) :)

So do i have to read COB series in order to read Internal devices? Maybe I should just skip ahead to that series....but I know the two series are connected....

I put it away for now. The main character is 13 and the book seems to be pushing for the early tween boy age group. The author has another book out: The Reformed Vampire Support Group by Catherine Jinks that someone suggested to read first before the Werewolf Rescue Group, so I think I may return it and come back after I read the vamp story. (If you've read The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman that's kind of the feel I was getting on this book.)

I have had such crap luck on books recently. Argh.

message 8524: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Heidi (the original) wrote: "He seems like an emo boy to me. Give me a man (like your Jamie) :)"

Oh, nobody compares to Jamie. Jace is but a mere shadow when Jamie is in the equation. I'll take a man with a Broadsword over a Teen with a stick any ole day.

Back when she was a fanfic writer she was accused of stealing whole scenes from other authors books. It was posted in a thread in this group somewhere. You could probably do a search on plagiarism and it would pull up. The evidence was pretty damning.

Some even say she still does it on a smaller scale by stealing whole ideas for her MI series from things created by JK Rowling or Joss Whedon (Buffy).

message 8527: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Catie wrote: "Haha, it does my heart good to hear you call Jamie a real man, Heidi."

Ahh, that stinks. I thought that book looked really good too. Maybe I will still give it a try but I will read my other ones first.

message 8530: by Julie (new)

Julie Is there a certain order I should read the Cassandra Clare books (besides series order obviously)? I've read City of Bones and have Clockwork Prince on my hold list at the library.

message 8531: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited May 12, 2011 02:13PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) If it's possible, Read the first 3 of Mortal Instruments, then Clockwork Angel, then City of Fallen Angels. That's the order the author wrote the books in.

(Wendy -darling- not F :p, I like Will but think I'm starting to prefer Jem)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Wendy F wrote: "Some even say she still does it on a smaller scale by stealing whole ideas for her MI series from things created by JK Rowling or Joss Whedon (Buffy)..."

Night Huntress. Bones reminds me too much of Spike sometimes. Still a guilty pleasure though, but there's definitely some HUGE similarities.

Arphaxad | 335 comments Stacia *two berries and a honeypot wrote: "(Wendy -darling- not F :p, I like Will but think I'm starting to prefer Jem)"

Same here, Stacia - mostly influenced by the teasers from Clockwork Prince, I think :)

message 8534: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I think that's what stops me from liking him as much as others. He just feels way to similar to Spike (whom I loooove). There are times he makes me grin and think he's hot, though.

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments Anyone read anything really really good lately? I seriously went through 5 books which I couldn't even get into, I need something GOOOOODDDDD!!!!!!

Bumped (Bumped, #1) by Megan McCafferty = went back to library after first chapter. Definately not my type of book.
The Betrayal of Maggie Blair by Elizabeth Laird = went back to library after first couple of pages. I really dislike anything historical (although some might argure the book is not historical) but it wasn't to my liking either.
The Abused Werewolf Rescue Group by Catherine Jinks = went back to library, too young for my taste...
Dark Descendant (Descendants, #1) by Jenna Black = went back to library. The book wasn't bad, i just have no interest in greek gods. At all.

Help.

My library doesn't have it, and it's not even on order yet.....Bah. I've already spent my book allowance (laugh if you must) this month so I was searching for a copy to loan with no such luck. It looks good though. You Against Me by Jenny Downham

Finnikin is excellent. From your HUGE tbr list I would also recommend The Book Thief by Markus Zusak , The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness , or Daughter of the Forest (Sevenwaters, #1) by Juliet Marillier . I only got through the first 100 of your tbr list though!

I just read Unearthly (Unearthly, #1) by Cynthia Hand And I Loved it!!! So good

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Oh I just started The Body at the Tower (The Agency, #2) by Y.S. Lee on audiobook (after I finished the incomparable Mississippi Jack Being an Account of the Further Waterborne Adventures of Jacky Faber, Midshipman, Fine Lady, and Lily of the West (Bloody Jack, #5) by L.A. Meyer )

Its hard to follow a Jacky audiobook but I'm really not sure what I think of the narrator. As odd as this sounds, I don't think I like the rhythm of her voice. Her pauses seem odd & too frequent. I'm giving it a chance but I really don't know. Maybe a day away from Jacky (started new book on same car ride) will improve it.

message 8546: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments Yeah.....I have a horribly loooong tbr list. I see something I like and add it, then I tell myself about once a week I'm going to back to start deleting, and the bigger my list gets the more daunting it seems. I've been ignoring it.

@Hodo Darkfever!!! Yaaayyy!!

message 8547: by amy (new)

amy (asmith519yahoocom) | 80 comments me too! Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning is good, despite the smutty cover. i can't read that in the carpool line at school! also started lost by jacqueline davies, well written but sad at the same time, at least so far.

message 8548: by Heidi (new)

I agree. I thought the Fever Series and Black Dagger Brotherhood series were really good on audio! There's just something sinister about sitting in my car in traffic and hearing the narrator describe some of those scenes. Yum!

message 8550: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Yes Amanda. I felt quite naughty listening to both series on audio while driving to work. I felt like everyone could tell what I was listening to. Fun :)
