Ha, I was just thinking the same thing Amy. Lloyd, I think everyone says that the first 2 books in the seres are just so-so. It picks up in the 3rd book and then it takes you over like a steamroller.

Heidi (the original) wrote: "So Lloyd are you reading or listening to Jacky?"Neither yet. Audiobook is on the way to the library, ebook is on the way to my Kindle. :P
Heidi (the original) wrote: "So Lloyd are you reading or listening to Jacky?"I think we pressured him into listening. Jacky makes the long drives for work tolerable. Had to drive to McCreary County KY tonight. It's 1 hr 15 min from work, only 45 minutes from home but that totals 2 hours of Jacky time!!
Cassi (Is out of glitter *sadness*) wrote: "I think we pressured him into listening. Jacky makes the long drives for work tolerable. will be downloading to my Kindle! Can't wait!!!
Um.

Ah! Carmel! I love that phrase. It instantly makes me think of The Man from Snowy River, which is one of my favorite movies of all time. Spur says, "Don't throw effort after foolishness, ya duffer." For some reason I assumed it was an oldie tyme phrase in Australia, because I've never heard it used again, but I just burst out in a huge grin and now now I have the urge to go home and watch Jim Craig and Spur.
I just read the Abhorsen series by Garth Nix. I think it's time for a fairly simple series so I think I'll dive into the Percy Jackson universe and see how I like it.
Wendy F wrote: "I just love that movie. Which, of couse, nobody I know has ever seen unless I force them."I adore those movies Wendy. Grew up on watching them and listening to the beautiful piano music.
Me too! Fur Elise is my ringtone, which I first heard in Man from Snowy River. My mom showed it to me first when I was a little girl, and it launched my love of horses. As a little girl I never had an imaginary friend, I had an imaginary horse named Trigger and he looked JUST like Jim's horse that he rode down the mountain.
lol! that's awesome! We had horses growing up and I was always naming them after the horses in the movie. Fur Elise is still my favorite piano music. Brings back good memories.
Well, I started reading
on the bus ride home yesterday. (Yes, I said "reading" - however, don't fear, the audio is waiting for me now at the library and I promise I'll give it a try). Besides, I'm not going to make it far, because I had
waiting on my Kindle this morning and was immediately sucked in (as I always am with Rick Riordan) when I started is this morning. I just LOVE Rick Riordan's YA books. Every single one of them.
Wendy F wrote: "I just love that movie. Which, of couse, nobody I know has ever seen unless I force them."I love Man from Snowy River (and the sequel) and own the dvd :)
I loved the sequel too, but the first was still the best. I have them on VHS, my DVD's are in my cart on Amazon. I just haven't purchased them yet.
Wendy F wrote: "I just love that movie. Which, of couse, nobody I know has ever seen unless I force them."Ooh, I love The Man From Snowy River! Maybe I'll watch it right now....
Look what you started Wendy! I love this group! I can always find someone to make me feel less alone in my loves.
It's great to know there are others out there. And of course it would be the super cool readers I've become friends with.

Jessie wrote: "I just read the Abhorsen series by Garth Nix. I think it's time for a fairly simple series so I think I'll dive into the Percy Jackson universe and see how I like it."I read those years ago, and while I enjoyed them, they were a bit difficult/complex.

The ideas behind the magic and the world itself were never really explained which drove me insane, so I can see that. I just loved the way he wrote and Lirael. And the Disreputable Dog.

Heidi, will do. At this point, I'm at the part where all the characters feel pretty petty. I'm assuming something will happen to change things. I do like the author's voice. It feels pretty authentic. Will let you know!
I really liked Muriel's Wedding too. Especially all the Abba stuff. It's been a long time since I've seen it though.
Just finished
I enjoyed it; not sure if I'll read the sequel. I also recently finished
, whish I do want to read a sequel too! I posted my review to it on Goodreads and on my site here: http://www.writersfunzone.com/blog/20...

I totally love him. He's fantastic!
Cambria wrote: Great! Please let me know what you think....I'm not gonna read them til you tell me what you think. LOL haha, ok. well half way through book 2 there is a twist and the story has been good up to that point as well. would give it 4 stars as of this point. i'm interested to see how this latest twist plays into the grand scheme of things!

How are you liking
?? I am reading it and its ...well its definitly original...lol
Laura wrote: "I started
but haven;t gotten into yet..."That one takes a few chapters to get moving. The author is really good at series writing, but likes to info dump a lot in her first book of every series she writes. Mead's very talented at writing an interesting story arc though, where each book increases with intensity.
I was wondering if you need to read the Dark HUnter Series to be able to understand The Chronicles of Nick
Reading
and its about as strange as its title lol. I have never read Alice in Wonderland and I sort of think maybe I should have before reading it full of zombies..LOL
Finished A Spy in the House and it was cute. It was a nice break from what I normally read and I enjoyed it. Now onto either Mexican WhiteBoy or Behemoth. Though I really want to read The Royal Treatment but its not out in ebook so I can save my money for awhile.

2. Jacky Faber
3. Deryn
But I feel like I'm missing some (I haven't read Eon but I know its there too).
You're not alone, Cassi - I love 'em too (which makes me think I really need to get hold of Bloody Jack somehow). Also, definitely bump
