Wait until she is the featured author. Not sure which month it is :)

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Downloaded The Piper's Son by Melina Marchetta (it's in ebook now!) today but my brain is filling all fuzzy wuzzy because I worked late and I think Marchetta deserves better than that.

And I'm on the last CD of The True Meaning of Smekday by Adam Rex . It's so much laugh-out-loud fun. I hope the ending lives up to the book. Gratuity is a hoot and a half!

message 8103: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Yeah Cassi! Great picks. Glad you're liking Smekday. So far, the four people (yes that includes you, Catie, Heidi and I(yes, I'm keeping track!)) from this GROUP (angry face!)that have listened to it, have enjoyed it. If you go to the Smekday website, you can see pics of JLo. I wish more audiobooks were as enjoyable, don't you?

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I really think I prefer audibooks that make me laugh. I think that's why I like Jacky Faber so much. Smekday is really fun and silly at times. I mean HELLO look what the alien is named. Its good not to take yourself too seriously.

And Jacky Faber would so be awesome to hang out with.

Don't make angry faces, Peep! I want to either read it or listen to it. I just can't decide which... it sounds like the Audio is hilarious, but the book is fully illustrated, haha, so I"m torn!.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Catie wrote: "I think listening to it is the way to go. I bought the book after I listened to it to see the pictures though."

I want to see the pictures but the audio is sooooooooo fantastic.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Someone told me to go the website. I had NOOOO idea how to picture J. Lo. They're much cuter than I imagined.

message 8109: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Hahaha, I didn't look at it until after I finished as well. I think that picture of him is perfect. And yep, the audio is the way to go.

If you liked the
Poison Study (Study, #1) by Maria V. Snyder series you will also like the Storm Glass (Glass, #1) by Maria V. Snyder series that begins with this book. There is a continuation in the story line from the Poison series, but with Opal as the main character.

WTF Are You Reading? | 64 comments I am over half finished with Storm Glass (Glass, #1) by Maria V. Snyder and about 26% into The Mammoth Hunters (Earth's Children, #3) by Jean M. Auel I find that they are both very hard to stop reading. I just got Sea Glass (Glass, #2) by Maria V. Snyder from the downloadable section of my library today and Storm Glass expires tonight so I had better get reading.

(Yes I got rid of the brain fuzz for those worried. And was so excited to read that I got 3 books from the library as well....EEK)

message 8127: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Cambria I didn't read Matched because it got mixed reviews and normally I tend to dislike books like that. Did you read it? p.s. enjoy Hunger Games!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Hunger Games was much better than Matched. Matched was pretty slow for the first half, but the ending was decent.

Finished Kiss of Crimson (Midnight Breed, #2) by Lara Adrian Rage (Horsemen of the Apocalypse, #2) by Jackie Kessler Secrets of a Summer Night (Wallflowers, #1) by Lisa Kleypas , all were good but I especially loved Rage because Death has never looked hotter.

About to start Archangel's Kiss (Guild Hunter, #2) by Nalini Singh Nevermore (Nevermore, #1) by Kelly Creagh

I hope you stayed safe throughout the weather last night Cassi. The area where I live didn't get hit directly, but the school community where I work was hit bad. Several of my students lost their homes. I'm trying to finish

Spud by John van de Ruit which I am really enjoying, but I couldn't concentrate last night either with all the weather reports.

message 8135: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I read Where She Went (If I Stay, #2) by Gayle Forman and pretty much ate it all up in one sitting! Loved it. Next up I am finally getting to my featured author book Son of the Shadows (Sevenwaters Series #2) by Juliet Marillier .

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I stayed safe. There was a potential (unconfirmed at this point) tornado is the county just southeast of here but I haven't heard of any injuries or any damage.(Bell county KY, near Middlesboro). The bad weather hugged the KY/TN border which is about 30 minutes from here.

I've been looking at pictures of the damage in Alabama on twitter. It is unreal.

message 8137: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Glad you are safe Cassi.

message 8138: by Brandi (new)

Brandi Glad you are safe too Cassi.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Our hills in Kentucky usually break up tornados so they don't get far. My cousins live near there that's part of why I was watching it so closely.

Heidi My co-workers hubby is going to KY this weekend for a fishing trip (we are right above you :), but they may cancel if the park is closed as it not worth his money.

I loved 13 Little Blue Envelopes! I read it when it first came out a couple years ago, but I reread it in anticipation of The Last Little Blue Envelope (Little Blue Envelope, #2) by Maureen Johnson . I didn't think it needed a sequel, but I will still read the last book just to find out what happens.

Where are they going? Kentucky has TONS of lakes. Southeastern KY lakes should be open and as far as I know they're not closed. I think the only one I heard of closed was Lake Nolin though I suspect some might be in Western KY as well. I'm guessing he was going out that way?

I don't think they ever close Laurel Lake in my town. Then again I don't fish or boat so what to I know.

Let me know if you find out. I'm curious.

So random random question. Do boys like Jacky Faber? I have a friend who I think would like audiobooks. I suggested The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie but you cannot buy that on CD for any reasonable price. (He had a stutter as a kid so I think he'd relate to that aspect & he likes nonfiction & its semi-nonfiction).

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Catie wrote: "I'm not sure Cassi - there's tons of action and adventure, but also a lot of flirting and boys. They are written by a man, though.

I guess I vote yes."

It's hard to decide isn't it! I mean Jacky is hilarious and there's fighting and pirates (kind of) and navy ships!

But Jacky's a total flirt and I love that about her. But I don't know how boys feel about stuff like that. Do boys even get book crushes?

This friend used to watch Gilmore Girls with me during college so that probably changes the equation somewhat.

See this is how i felt too and I kept reading then the ending was like...seriously??? And I felt the same way with the club incident... Thats why i only read the first one. But i keep hearing how much everyone loves them, so i don't know. :(

message 8147: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Cassi if your friend has access to a library with Netlibrary, he can get the audiobook through there. I don't believe it's available through Overdrive, just Netlibrary.

Get him to listen to Smekday. How old is he by the way?

message 8148: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Um he was 2 years ahead of me in college. He lives in Houston hence why I'm not sure of his exact age (probably 27 or 28). He'd probably like Smekday. I have no idea what kind of library they have there. He likes books but doesn't get around to reading them very often (we email so I'm constantly pushing books on him lol). He does video stuff for a mega church and that's kind of why I'm interested to see how he'd enjoy audiobooks.

Smekday is such a unique audiobook though. Is it a proper introduction to the medium you think?

message 8150: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) I think it would be, just because I believe it sets the bar kinda high, though I don't know how a guy would like it. The little the my husband listened with me, he liked.

I really liked Carter Finally Get's It on audio but it's about a teen boy with hormones. It's not something I would like if I read it, but the audiobook was hilarious. He might like it, but not sure if that would be his cup of tea.
