Question - since the challenge start date is January 1st are we supposed to include books we've already read this year or just ones from today foward? Thanks
Sandy wrote: "Question - since the challenge start date is January 1st are we supposed to include books we've already read this year or just ones from today foward? Thanks"Sandy, I don't know for sure since I didn't create the challenge but I'm guessing that PNR books you read from January 1st should be counted.

Sandy, I don't know for since I didn't create the challenge but I'm guessing that PNR books you read from January 1st should be counted"
Sashana, your guess is right. As long the paranormal book is read in 2011 before or until November 11th it counts.
I'm in. I will post later.Jessica, good question for clarification!
Also, if 11 books per category, can books overlap categories, i.e., books contains both demons and witches?
Sandy, thank you for posting your 11 categories! I was starting to wonder how I'd find 11 different paranormal sub-genres. I think I can read 1 paranormal book a month. I'll post my selections in a bit.
I'm back in. Going to go for the easy level. I'm so glad there is one now!1. Fae:

Wow Ashley, you really went for the challenge! I'm impressed that you found 11 books in each of the 11 categories.
Well I've had this challenge planned since October of 2010 with a list made up already so most of the work was done. I've changed some of the books quite of few times and switched one category for another. I thought I'd have more trouble with most of the categories but was surprised at the amount I found for each category expect for vampires of course and werewolves.

Awwww thank you! I have been using that username for years. :)
I seriously will be looking over that list for this challenge and beyond for reading ideas. I am always lost finding books for certain categories.
I am sorry. I had to drop out. I can not read that many books in that time frame. I am being realistic with myself here. Great challenge for some people though. :)
I don't expect to finish this challenge either but it's fun to try. And some of the books I have can count in more than one category so I don't have to read 121 books.
I told myself I wasn't going to to take on any more challenges for awhile, but well I'm addicted to them and most the books I read are paranormal in nature anyways, so I'm in! List to come:
I think this is one challenge I can actually finish. :) I'm in. So glad I can include things I've already read this year.
Yeah. I don't think I read enough of this genre to fill all eleven categories. So, I'm joining the rest of those dropping out.
I agree that it's a lot of books to cover in 11 months. But they aren't called challenges without good reason! :-)I'm still in, just haven't development my list yet! It will be fun to see how many I can cover as my yearly challenge is 80 books (I think).
Thanks Ashley for coming up with a great challenge!
I'm still going to do a modified version and read one book from each of the 11 categories I chose though. I just don't own enough PNR/UF books to make it to 121 by 11 November and I have too many other kinds of books to read first.

So Sashana messaged me with a great suggestion which was to have two levels to this challenge; easy and hard. The easy level would be to just have 11 different paranormal categories with 1 book in each category. The hard level would be to have 11 different paranormal categories with 11 books in each category. What do you all think?
Ashley wrote: "So Sashana messaged me with a good suggestion which was to have two levels to this challenge; easy and hard. That sounds good. A friend of mine wanted to do it until she realized that it was 11 books in 11 catagories. She wanted to do 1 book in each catagory. I'm not going to overlap my books even though we can. I like the idea of 121 books. My goal was 100. Last year I read about 100 books in 9 months. With an additional 2 months, and being addicted to the first series (Vampire Academy), I don't think it'll be a problem. I'm updating my yearly goal to 150 since I also have the Cheney Duvall MD searies to read. And more series on this challenge that I will want to finish.
@ Melinda, Jennifer, & Melissa Thanks for your input.@ Sashana Thanks again for the suggestion.
I updated the details again with info about the 2 levels.
Sorry, for posting this question again, but I think it might have gotten lost with all the other comments. :)I was wondering, how do we update on our progress in this challenge? Do we make a post everytime we have something crossed out or do we post our original list and when the challenge closes, we make a post to share what we've accomplished?

That's alright. Sorry I missed it the first time.
Once your list is posted just edit it to cross out each book once you have read them.

Details: You choose your own categories but you must have 11 categories and they must be paranormal. Some examples are: Vampires, Werewolves, Witches, Angels, Demons, etc.
Update: This challenge will now have two levels.
Easy Level: The easy level would be to just have 11 different paranormal categories with 1 book in each category.
Hard Level: The hard level would be to have 11 different paranormal categories with 11 books in each category.
Also books can overlap categories. Example (thanks to Melinda): if a book contains both demons and witches they may be counted in the demons category and witches category or just one or the other it's up to you.
