Introducing Yourself :)

even though I'm like a day late...hello fellow college mate! (even though I'm a freshman) :)

They're 10 and 13 - and before you ask, yes they could READ much younger than this, LOL! They just didn't really take to it as a passtime.
Anyway, now that they have, I'm on the hunt for good boy books. Most of the ones I find at the library seem to be aimed at girls, so boy book recommendations would be appreciated. Or should I start another thread for that?

*eh ehm*
The Bartimaeus Trilogy
Harry Potter (prob already read...)
Ranger's Apprentice Series
Maximum Ride series
Witch and Wizard series
Daniel X series
I am Number Four series
Hatchet? (For the younger one maybe...)
Any Rick Riordan book (See HP)
The Hunger Gamnes (ditto)
The Incarceron Series (Loved it!)
Of course, they've all got their little girly quirks, but don't all books? These are all for the most part action adventures, and I think just about anyone of any gender would love them. Hope this helps! :)

Yes, I knew it! No one can resist the draw of Cassandra Clare!
Hi Ashley! Paranormal romance for the win! ;)
And hi Leanne, welcome! I think you'd be more successful opening up a new thread. I'm sure our members can give you a few suggestions!
OH MY GOD GUYS!!! 400 MEMBERS!!!!!!! In 2 Months and 4 days!!! This is great! thanks to all of the member whom have been with us from the beginning, the new members and everyone. And also our Mods! Thanks :DD

My Suggestions:
Percy Jackson And The Olympians series, of course.
The Kane Chronicles Series, the first book is The Red Pryamid.
All the above book suggestions are written By Rick Riordan, of course, as was acknowleged by another member on this board.
If they like Vampires:
Cirque Du Freak Series By Darren Shan is an execellent series as seen through the eyes of a pre teen boy who becomes a vampire's assitant and a half vampire because of his obligation to the main and only vampire of a circus Freak show.
If they like History:
My Name is America is a great series on history's events as seen through the eyes of teenage boys who write about these events in journals.
Maybe a little Kiddish for their ages but I'm 26 and I love these books as these books remind me of Middle School: the Wimpy Kid Series is a great series.
And last but not least two books suggestions for your boys if they like Fantasy:
Unless they already have read them, Harry Potter is a great series for boys.
The other series is Fablehaven By Brandon Mull and it is a good series but focuses on a relationship between a brother and a sister. Although it mainly focuses on the sister, especially in the first book, they may like the brother Seth because he is an adventurous boy who causes trouble when he wants to and can be a little too sarcastic for me, and not all boys are like him, but he may appeal to your boys. Seth also takes center stage a little more as the series goes on.
Anyway Leanne, I hope this helps and that your boys continue to read, just for the enjoyment of reading, well into adulthood.

I'm a little crazy myslef; I'll fit right in! Thanks for all the warm welcomes!

I'm the author of a young adult fantasy called "Wind and Fire" and I'm also a totally addicted book junky. I've always had an obsession with reading and writing since I was a young child. My favourite genres are fantasy first and foremost (both adult and young adult), mystery/suspense/thriller, paranormal, urban fantasy. I'm not really into romance, although I don't mind romantic relationships as long as they don't overshadow the fantasy elements of a book, and I read some science fiction as long as it's not too technical and complex.

I am a total bookaholic, work in a library which feeds my addiction... My favorite genre is Historical Fiction, but I'm finding that I am really enjoying a lot of YF stuff lately. I've recently read Beastly, Red Riding Hood, the books in the Fallen series and brought home several other YA books from the library: Incarceron, Heist Society & Finnikin of the Rock
Some of my all-time fav books are Jane Eyre, just about anything by Jane Austen, The Mists of Avalon and The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings series.

My name is Daryl (I'm a girl =P) I am 21 and I study Psychology. I love reading and one of my favourite series would have to be The Vampire Academy Series and also The Sookie Stakehouse series. I'm currently studying which means no more recreational reading for me, its just textbooks now. I also love to write. Ahyways thats about all I have to say for now =)

One of the best books I've read so far this year is hands down MUST READ - Betrayal by Mayandree Michel

My book is the girl with the dragon tattoo i absolutely love the series and i would recommend it to everyone who likes a kick-a** heroine like Lisbeth.

Don't feel bad, I have not read them either. I have started the first one, but only a couple chapters!
