Look at that cover!

I love these characters so much!! 😫 And Kal is my sugar baby!

In a flash almost too quick to track, Kal seizes the mans wrist, bends it backward with a bright snapping sound. The man screams and Kal twists; I hear another crunch as the guys elbow bends in entirely the wrong direction. The other Unbroken step forward, but with a hiss, the young woman called Saidii holds them still. And as I watch, horrified, Kal sweeps the warriors feet out from under him and starts slamming

The first half of this book was 4 stars of solid space fun, and then it derailed real quick.
I don't know what happened during the second half but there was just a disconnect for me with the characters and it felt super rushed.

I'll probably still stick with the series, but I expected a lot more from this.

It's not often that I like the middle book of a trilogy more than I did the first but in this case I did! No time was spent in marking time or building a story - it was action, followed by action, followed by more action. And then, bang, it finished. Just like that. No explanations, no conclusions. It was the most abrupt ending I think I have ever read and I loved it.

My main connection with the series is basically with the characters. Kaufman and Kristoff write young people so well. They have no

This cover has killed me, brought me back to life, and killed me again. 😭 My precious grumpy space elf looks so good!

Don't mind me, I'm just over here drooling over an untitled book with no release date, cover, or synopsis... 😬

Really fun YA SF series - but watch out for the killer cliffhanger at the end of this book. Final review, first posted on Fantasy Literature:

Aurora Burning, the second book in Amie Kaufmans and Jay Kristoffs young adult SF AURORA CYCLE series, follows the tension-filled, nonstop space adventures of the teenage crew of Squad 312, recent graduates of the Aurora Academy. In the first book, Aurora Rising, the crew visited the forbidden planet of Octavia III and discovered, to their horror, that an

Look, Kal is cool and all, and I know everyone thinks he's gorgeous, but tbh I'm just holding out for a book in this series to have Finian on the cover because he is a precious soul (even if he is a

For fans of Space Opera & Buffy the Vampire Slayer

The thing I love the most about The Aurora Cycle, and Aurora Burning especially, is just how extra everything is. From high-action space chases to outlandish costumes and make-out scenes directly following high speed jet pack flights through open space, Aurora Burning definitely delivers if you love campy, over the top characters and epic plots to save the universe.

As usual, my favourite aspect of Jay Kristoff & Amie Kaufman's stories

RIP, Aurora Burning. You won't be missed.

When I started this book, two weeks ago, I would have thought anything possible, except me giving this less 5 stars.
But I was obviously wrong because, guess what? This book was a big disappointment.
I found the plot to be incredibly dull, especially considering this book takes place in the action-packed heart of a chain of events that started in book one.
I think it maybe
I just finished reading this and I need a minute to process it all.

#1) Aurora Rising: ★★★★☆

Squad 312 is in Emerald City trying to sell their Longbow when suddenly the displays show them wanted for a terror attack and the reward is $100,000. Along with that, Admiral Adams publicly denounces Squad 312 and says they have gone rogue. So the GIA, Terran Government, the Aurora Legion, and anyone who wants that reward are all after them. But there is one group of people after them too Kal's sister, Saedii, and the Unbroken warriors. It seems that the whole universe is

*sigh* i think i read this book NOT in the right time, i just finished a very good Adult fantasy book with so many smart characters and plot and reading this book felt really not make sense at all 😂 like how the heck all these teenagers versus the whole galaxy survived with simple plans and sheer luck and ofc everyone is secretly so special?

I still love all the characters on this book (characterization is the strongest element on this book i guess) and love to learn more about them on here, i

I am not feeling nothing. What a quote to sum up this book.

Guys, I am an absolute WRECK over this book. Ive told a few people that this series, these characters, the world, everything just speaks to me in a way that doesnt happen very often. I mean, I LOVE so many books, but I dont know that Ive ever felt so connected to an entire cast of characters
Ahhhh CRAP. So the wait begins.

You know that blank, empty sound of space? That is my mind right now trying to put my feelings into words.

I fail.

WARNING: This review will definitely contain untagged spoilers for the first book in the series.

I think that if we weren't given chapters from his POV, I'd probably find him unbearable. Because he's such a soldier! But I really enjoy hearing the way he thinks, about strategy, and leadership, but

This book didn't feel like a filler at all. It had all the action, all the plot and all the emotions of the first book. It also had a huge freaking cliff hanger and now I have to wait to know what happens but I want the sequel noooooow

Idk what I'll do when this series is over ;_; It has the perfect mix of sci-fi goodies, banter, found family/ friendship shenanigans, humor and mind blowing plot twists ♥

what. the. hell. was. that. cliffhanger.

in between the crying, laughing, screaming, mentally murdering and 'oh shit!' moments i experienced throughout this book, i reached the conclusion that these two wonderful (aussie ;)) authors want me dead. because why? why else would they do this to me? surely they know the pain that i - and many other esteemed readers - are feeling right now?

i had so many ups and downs whilst reading this that i ended up crying in my bed, and i don't even know why. well

Oh, dont mind me. Im just sitting here patiently waiting for my preorder copy to arrive and praying I dont see spoilers until it gets here. I dont mind waiting in the midst of the pandemic, Im just hoping I dont see spoilers until I read it.

*sliding a twenty to Kaufman and Kristoff* so... how about an early release on this one...? Or an ARC? A single page? Ill take whatever I can get.

So I think I'm in the same boat for book two in this series as I was for book one. There are good, and interesting, and twisty things happening, with some mostly fun characters, but I'm definitely not loving this series compared to the duo's other books.

There were some big reveals in AURORA BURNING; some I saw coming, others I didn't, and while there is a bit of overall underwhelmingness happening here for me (and that makes me a little sad), I'm not about to get off this ride because we're

I dont know how they did it, but Kaufman and Kristoff created a sequel that was just as engaging, fun and adventurous as the first book - if not more so!

We learn more about the Syldrathi plus so many juicy secrets are uncovered. I love how well thought out this series is so far.

Waiting extremely impatiently for book 3!!

Highly recommend
I have so many mixed feelings about the ending of this book, but since I loved the rest of it, I wont go any lower than 4 stars because a book that has Kaliis Idraban Gilwraeth cannot go below 4 stars ever.

Let me just start by saying Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufmanyou dirty bastards! How could you end the story right there??? How??? It is so cliffy, it is like ending on that time when Jean Luc Picard became borg or the viewers saw Buffy the Vampire slayers tombstone or like 8 different times on LOST. AHHHH!!! I will now wait, oh so not patiently, for the next book.

Moving on.

I know my friends, and they are few. But those few I have, I would die for.

I swear, this book gave me whiplash. Between the constant action, plot twists, and that ending, I am deceased. Seriously, the audacity that Jay Kristoff and Amie Kauffman have to conclude Aurora Burning the way they did is insane.

When comparing this instalment to book one, Id say that Aurora Burning was definitely a little better. Since weve already become acquainted with the crew, no time is wasted before we

Yikes, I did NOT know how badly this book was going to break me all the way through the end. I mean, they DID warn us and pretty much every early reviewer was just screaming but I was not prepared for how bad Aurora Burning was going to wreck me.

Somewhere along the line, Fin became my favorite character and this book gave us all the goods. The range of emotions the characters go through kept me fully enraptured in the story.

When I say I love middle books, this is the exact example of why. We
