Haha! There's a challenge;)

I can live with that. :)
This year saw my 30th anniversary of coming to Australia, so that's not too bad at all.
Well done Anke!!! I see you are a new member...welcome:) Maybe you'd like to introduce yourself over here http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/3... so everyone can say hi!!
Have done 86 out of 100 of them, some regularly (checking the seat of the outdoor dunny, being a daily ritual. :)). These are the fourteen not done:

--Know the story behind “Eternity”.

--Read The Phantom.
--Gone spotlighting or pig-shooting.

Had to add that I once had a boyfriend called Duncan. Of course we drove him mad by singing him Slim Dusty. Luckily never turned him off beer though--the relationship would have fizzled there and then :).

Good long list there Fiona:) It's funny how you don't seem to do the 'touristy' things when you live in the vicinity! I think we could all say that about something or other!

Have you ever:
Purchased a gun larger than your SUV?
Named it?
Voted for Ayn Rand in absentia because you couldn't find anyone conservative enough on the Republican Party ticket?
Refused to vote for Ayn Rand because she was female?
Resolved to vote for Paul Ryan because he actually *is* Ayn Rand?
Felt personally deputized to carry out state-authorized capital punishment sentences?
Believed that Man once kept dinosaurs as pets? (extra points if you think your grandfather did)
Attempted to ban a book? (extra points if you used gasoline)
Remembered the Alamo?
Said "y'all" when not describing a two-masted sailboat.
Denied the effects of global warming because heat melting ice is "just a theory."
Attempted to declare war (personally) on several distant countries whose names you can't pronounce?
Voted to liquidate the US Treasury and give all the money to the 3 richest people in the country?
Tried to deport your neighbor to one of the moons of Saturn?
Thought you couldn't do that because, why would a car have moons?
Voted to oppose bilingualism because it has too many syllables?
Barbecued a cow? (extra points if it was alive)
Thought that Australia should never have been given Statehood?
Tally up your score, and if your total exceeds zero, you might actually be a Texan who got confused while trying to drive to Hawaii.
Absolutely love it! Thank you for that belly laugh, Mark. Laughed so hard the kids came running to see what was up.
Particularly liked these questions:

Yeah, those upstart Iraqis, who do they think they are? Hmm, well, one of the oldest known civilisations, would have to be a good start.
Mind you, I copped flak for saying the war against Iraq was about oil and greed, but I suspect you and I could talk for hours on these points. The US doesn't have a monopoly on ignorance, we do a pretty good job ourselves.
I bought some meat from the butcher for my chooks the other day. He said he was surprised that they liked it. I replied, yes they are omnivores. Drew a confused blank. It took me a while to realise he had no idea what an omnivore was--despite being one himself. I am spoilt by my conversations on GR, an online world of book people, the real world sadly, isn't the same.

Gone to a drive-in theatre. Alas, no. Was just saying that to hubby last night. Never been.
Have read and own books by Australian authors. Yep, including my own.
Visited Adelaide. Yep.
Know the story behind “Eternity”. No. Might have to google that.

Chosen a side in Holden VS Ford. Yep - they're both crap!
Visited the desert. Been across the Nullabor Plain, so yeah, seen plenty of desert. Also lived in the desert in the Middle East.
Been water skiing - attempted to. Wasn't very good at it. Better at sea biscuiting.
Read The Phantom. Read the Phantom of the Opera. Does that count?
Visited Parliament House. (Old or New) Both.
Gone spotlighting or pig-shooting. Gone with husband and kids spotlighting but just to drive the car. Leave the shooting to them.

Thanks guys. I will get around to reposting my introduction, adhering to the rules. But only get one day a week where I get to write and today, not getting anywhere near enough writing done. Hmm, maybe if I got off Goodreads, I might be more successful....

Yes, all happy goodreads participants are the same, but all the unhappy ones are unhappy in different ways. :)

And I have to ask - two high grade Australians sitting here, neither of us have the foggiest idea what a "Sang along with Khe San. " means?

Since I'm not actually Australian at all, I'm about as "low-grade" as it's possible to be, but I had been under the impression that "Khe San" was some sort of bar song. I mean, obviously, "Khe Sanh" was originally a major battle of the Vietnam War, and possibly someone wrote a song about it which somehow migrated to Australia and became a drinking song, but I can't see how else it relates. Now that curiosity has been piqued, does anyone know why this is now an Australian identity marker?
Well done Michael:) Thanks for putting the words up, it brought back memories for me too...the tune is in my head now;)
