Since I'm not actually Australian at all, I'm about as "low-grade" as it's possible to be, but I had been under the impression that "Khe San" was some sort of bar song. I mean, obviously, "Khe Sanh" was originally a major battle of the Vietnam War, and possibly someone wrote a song about it which somehow migrated to Australia and became a drinking song, but I can't see how else it relates. Now that curiosity has been piqued, does anyone know why this is now an Australian identity marker?

After reading the list I think I'm 75% Aussie. I was born in the UK and dragged to OZ as a child so that probably accounts for the missing 25% But then again I have used an outside dunny on numerous occasions and checked for redbacks under the seat so that probably equals it all out.
