Childhood holiday in a caravan by the sea.
Showering in thongs at a campsite.
Peeling off strips of sunburnt skin after a day at the beach (as a child only!)
Burnt sausage wrapped in fresh white bread with sauce at a sausage sizzle.
Dawn service in the freezing rain on Anzac Day.
Love the smell of the Australian bush after rain.
Bushfire sunsets.
Wanna, dunno, gotta, oright.
She'll be right, mate.
Nice day hey but. (heard that a lot in Queensland)
Christmas day at the beach!

Kim BookGirl | 109 comments Heard a kookaburra laughing. - Yes
Slept under the stars in a swag. - No, I am the rugged indoor type when it comes to accommodation. So far a tent is the most outdoorsy I have been. Would maybe one day try a swag.

I used to work at the airport and found myself having to explain to overseas tourists what our weather was doing. the funniest was a couple of Americans wearing big coats on a 36 degree day. I had to explain to them that coats weren't necessary, 36 is pretty hot in Celsius!

Khe Sanh is a well-known song by Cold Chisel. The final refrain is "Well the last plane out of Sydney's almost gone". Mentioning it since everyone seems to go "Oh yeah!" when you tell them that bit, but not when you mention the title.

And well done for managing to avoid VB. :-)
