Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments I finished Beastly (Kendra Chronicles, #1) by Alex Flinn and was surprised how much I enjoyed the book. I especially love the chat room exchanges. Cute. I give the book 4 stars.

message 407: by Dragana (last edited Jul 26, 2012 12:26AM) (new)

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) I finished reading Austenland by Shannon Hale for 'Midnight in Austenland' by Shannon Hale ☆☆☆

It was a quick read so I can not say I did not enjoy it but... Jane Hayes was so indecisive and intense, I just could not understand her and connect with her character. I was disappointed with the institution of Austenland - felt very fake and somehow lame. I think I will not revisit it by reading Midnight in Austenland.

message 408: by Yvonne (new)

Yvonne (selana) I finished Beastly on July 26 and gave it 4 stars. A nice re-telling of a fairy tale

Where She Went (If I Stay, #2) by Gayle Forman

Where She Went by Gayle Forman

Finished: 8/6/2012
Rating: **

I would've liked this book better if the story was told from Mia's point of view. Hearing Adam's side the story was interesting at first but by the end of the book he was wearing on me. He just sounded really whiny at the end and I just wanted to tell him to grow up. I would've rather of heard Mia's side of the story instead.

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments Forgot to post. I read Rainshadow Road (Friday Harbor, #2) by Lisa Kleypas last August 24. A 5-star read for me. Lisa Kleypas does magical realism as well as she does historicals.

I got that as my audio book of the month from audible :-) Hope I won't cry as much as I do when watching the film

message 422: by Dragana (new)

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) Lover Mine Lover Reborn by J.R. Ward ★★★★ 03.09.2012.
Nice addition to the series. A lot of things that were bugging me (like why Lassiter is here) are revealed.

message 423: by Yvonne (new)

Yvonne (selana) I finished two books today:

The last Unicorn was my audio book for this month and I loved it just as much as I love the film. Not sure why I never even knew that there was a book too, but I'm glad I found it now. 5 stars

City of Bones for City of Ashes - don't think I'll read the next one in the series, was disappointed that characters and parts of the story were so similar to the Clockwork Angel series. Just 3 stars

message 424: by Ty (new)

Ty | 1943 comments finished City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments, #2) by Cassandra Clare today. One ★. This was PURE TORTURE. I have no idea why I decided to put the 2nd book on my TBR... will not be picking up the 3rd. After giving her 3 chances, I'm totally done with this author.

message 425: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments I finished The Hero of Ages (Mistborn, #3) by Brandon Sanderson for the The Well of Ascension (Mistborn, #2) by Brandon Sanderson on 14 sep. A very excellent conclusion to the Mistborn trilogy. I gave it 5 stars.

message 426: by Megan L (new)

Megan L Harnett | 806 comments I read Strange Angels (Strange Angels, #1) by Lili St. Crow and finished it on 9/16/12. I give this book 2 stars. The action didn't realy start until the last quarter of the book. Also you didn't really know what was going on until then too. The first part was just boring. I hope the rest of the series gets better.

Yvonne (selana) interesting list with more than one book I'd like to read...

Seraphina (Seraphina, #1) by Rachel Hartman sounds good, but so does Rampant (Killer Unicorns, #1) by Diana Peterfreund - I've read a short story from her in this verse and really liked it

Carrie (icanhasbooks) | 987 comments I've never done one of these random book list challenges, I'm in.

I'm going to read Black Unicorn by Tanith Lee . I've had a copy of this book on my shelf for a very long long time and I haven't even gave it a thought to read it. So now I will.

message 444: by Yz the Whyz, Moderator (new)

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments I finished Divergent (Divergent, #1) by Veronica Roth last night. Despite my doubts, it turned out to be intriguing enough to make it a fast read. I'm definitely interested in reading Book 2.

message 445: by Dragana (new)

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) In the end I read The Audition and then liked the prequel so much that I read Seraphina too. :D
Both were solid 4 star reads.
I liked it. Nice fantasy with light romantic elements. I especially liked the descriptions of relations between dragons and men and different views of each other.

I haven't read the prequel yet, but really liked 'Seraphina' - the differences between humans and dragons and their relations did fascinate me too. I'm curious where the story goes in the next book

message 449: by Ty (new)

Ty | 1943 comments read both The Audition (Seraphina, #0.5) by Rachel Hartman and Seraphina (Seraphina, #1) by Rachel Hartman . ★★★★
I love a well-written YA fantasy. For a debut novel, quite excellent. The heroine's relationships with the various father figures were intriguing, especially in light of the missing maternal influence. Definitely reading the sequel.

message 450: by Carrie (new)

Carrie (icanhasbooks) | 987 comments Just finished Black Unicorn (Unicorn, #1) by Tanith Lee , yet another great book by Tanith Lee, this is the fourth book of hers that I have read, and I have yet to be disappointed. 4 stars.
