Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments i'm probably going to read Dark Peril - which is the book following Dark Slayer - or the wicked house of rohan (because I think I might have it hidden on the kindle somewhere)

Dark Peril is good, although for now, Dark Slayer is my favorite Carpathian book.

Wicked House of Rohan was an ebook freebie if I'm not mistaken, so you probably have it in your Kindle.

Fran | 12278 comments I didn't get Wicked House of Rohan when it was free and now it's not- oh well- I will read Sun, Sand, Sex-looks right up my alley!

message 54: by Sheila (new)

Sheila (sheilaj) Put me down for Birthright by Nora Roberts

I wonder if a person could possibly read all of her books.

Thanks Yz, I am having trouble opening the Sony Reader on my computer so I can't download the book but thanks so much for checking it out for me. If I can't get it to work I will read Sun, Sand, Sex instead- no hardship!

message 58: by SandyC (new)

SandyC (sandyc88) | 1287 comments I'll pick Wicked House of Rohan. I was able to get it when it was free. (It is VERY short, though.)

message 59: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Beyers (mandybeyers) | 763 comments I'll read Wicked House of Rohan.

message 60: by Renee (new)

Renee | 231 comments I'm in. I'll read One For The Money

message 61: by SandyC (new)

SandyC (sandyc88) | 1287 comments Well....I finished The Wicked House of Rohan. It was approximately 26 pages. :-)

I am also going to read Four to Score since we can stay within series.

message 62: by KarenF (new)

KarenF (cleocleveland) | 1099 comments I'm going to the the first Riley Jenson book Full Moon Rising

message 63: by Annie (new)

Annie (themadnessofhamsters) I'll finally read Fire. At least, that's the plan.

message 64: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Beyers (mandybeyers) | 763 comments I'm going to read Full Moon Rising as well.

message 65: by Yz the Whyz, Moderator (new)

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments Finished reading The Wicked House of Rohan last night.

Due to its length, it feels more like a teaser. Still its an intriguing introduction to another Anne Stuart series. I give it 3 stars.

message 66: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Beyers (mandybeyers) | 763 comments I enjoyed Full Moon Rising - Poor Riley! I'm not sure if she just has bad taste in men or just really bad luck! I found it a really good first book - I certainly want to read more in the series - 4 stars.

message 67: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ | 3901 comments I'm in. I'll read Dark Slayer as this has been on my shelf forever and I just can't get to it.

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments Barbara wrote: "I'm in. I'll read Dark Slayer as this has been on my shelf forever and I just can't get to it."

Personally, I think Dark Slayer is the best Carpathian book so far. I just adore Ivory and Razvan. I think you will enjoy it.

message 69: by SandyC (new)

SandyC (sandyc88) | 1287 comments I finished Four to Score in the Stephanie Plum series. 4 stars!

message 70: by Miss (new)

Miss | 330 comments Finished Fire on 1/11. 4 stars, it was a good read.

message 71: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments I finished Sun, Sand, Sex - big snow day here yesterday (1 foot)- this was a re-read for me and I liked it as much the second time. It contains one of my favorite short stories- One Last Weekend by Linda Lael Miller. A couple in their early 40's on the brink of divorce get away for one last weekend before the proceedings start. That story just makes me cry. The other 2 stories are cute and fun, nothing spectacular.

message 72: by Sheila (new)

Sheila (sheilaj) I finished Birthright by Nora Roberts.

Nora Roberts must be growing on me because I really liked this stand alone novel. Finished 1/15

message 73: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Beyers (mandybeyers) | 763 comments I read The Wicked House of Rohan - 3 stars. I have not read anything by Anne Stuart previously, so I think they succeeded in getting me interested in this trilogy by offering this prequel for free :)

message 74: by Daffodil (new)

Daffodil (daffodil--ripcranberry) | 1058 comments I've been wanting to try out Christina Dodd's Darkness Chosen series, so Scent of Darkness is next up on my tbr.

message 75: by ~Sara~ (new)

~Sara~ | 667 comments I'll read either Birthright or One for the Money since I own them both. I read To the Nines a while ago and have always been meaning to start the series from the beginning.

message 76: by Daffodil (new)

Daffodil (daffodil--ripcranberry) | 1058 comments Finished Scent of Darkness Scent of Darkness (Darkness Chosen, #1) by Christina Dodd yesterday, 1-19-11.
Rating: 3.5 stars
Review: Surprisingly enjoyable. Other reviews made me think I might be disappointed, but I ended up zipping right through this. Lots of threads left hanging in the overall story arc, but that's to be expected in a quartet. I will definitely be reading the next in this set.

message 77: by ~Megan~ (last edited Jan 21, 2011 10:35AM) (new)

~Megan~ (megadee) Finished Scent of Darkness and gave it 3.5 stars!

message 78: by KarenF (new)

KarenF (cleocleveland) | 1099 comments I finished Full Moon Rising today. Riley did have the worst luck with men. This has been on my TBR pile forever and I'm glad I got the "push" to read it from this challenge because I really enjoyed it. I'll definitely be reading more in the series.

message 79: by Wan (new)

Wan (wanwaddell) | 2081 comments I finished Magic Study on 1/18/11 before I saw this thread. Hope it counts. I gave it a 4 stars.

Quick Review: It was fast pace and quick read. I love Poison Study and don't think Magic Study was as good. I felt like I was reading different series all together but I really enjoyed it.

If you like the Hunger Games series, you'll probably like the Study series.

message 80: by Pam (new)

Pam | 1048 comments I finished The Wicked House of Rohan today. It feels like cheating somehow because of the brevity. Brevity wins it 2 stars but I will read the first book in the series.

message 81: by ~Sara~ (last edited Jan 30, 2011 09:38PM) (new)

~Sara~ | 667 comments I just finished One for the Money and I liked it a lot (1/30****). The only other book I've read by Evanovich is To the Nines and although it was good, I can already tell this series is much better read from the beginning and in order. I found I could dive right in to the 9th book, but I lost to much of the characters identities that way. It was a lot of fun seeing how they all met.

message 82: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ | 3901 comments I can't believe I didn't sign up for this. I read Dark Slayer by Christine Feehan and just finished it now. What a great but very dark and brutal story of the Carpathians.

message 83: by Yz the Whyz, Moderator (new)

It doesn't matter. I added you to the list. : )

Dark Slayer, as of now, is my favorite Carpathian book and Razvan and Ivory my favorite couple. The book is just a total winner in my opinion.

message 84: by Annie (new)

Annie (themadnessofhamsters) I failed... oops. Will try for next week.

: )

I'll be reading the first book of that trilogy, since I recently got the whole set from the library sale bin.

message 88: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments Funny, Yz...I received both books (#2 and #3 in the series) from PBS just a few minutes before I checked this thread. Talk about timing!

message 89: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Beyers (mandybeyers) | 763 comments I think I'll read Need by Carrie Jones, since it is sitting on my Nook already.

message 90: by KarenF (new)

KarenF (cleocleveland) | 1099 comments Death Masks is next up for me in the Dresden series so I'll be reading that one.

message 91: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments Has anyone read Need? the reviews seem mixed and I can't tell if I will like it or not. My library has that one and The Long Winter so it's between those two.

message 92: by Sheila (new)

Sheila (sheilaj) I'll be reading Need since I already have the audiobook from the library.

message 93: by Miss (new)

Miss | 330 comments Fran wrote: "Has anyone read Need? the reviews seem mixed and I can't tell if I will like it or not. My library has that one and The Long Winter so it's between those two."

I hated it and that's rare for me but I've seen reviews that rated it really high, so maybe you might like it. There are better books out there that's for sure. :)
The writing seemed childish and the heroine was really annoying, but it might appeal to some Twilight fans, it had that feel to it, though I thought Twilight was much better.

message 94: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments Thanks Miss- I got the feeling from many reviews that the heroine and the writing style might be a problem- thanks for your input :)

message 95: by Kaity (new)

Kaity (bittenbooks) | 8 comments Need is actually waiting for me at the library now so I'll read that!

message 96: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments Heart of Darkness is a free download on Amazon and I've never read it so think I will give that a try.

message 97: by Vanessa (new)

Vanessa (vanessamc) | 394 comments For this list, I'm trying Twice Tempted by a Rogue - it sounds really good!

message 98: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments Fran wrote: "Heart of Darkness is a free download on Amazon and I've never read it so think I will give that a try."

Geez, I am trying to get through this- it's really just so hard to keep going...yuck. I will do my best to be rid of this tonight.

message 99: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments I just finished Heart of Darkness - I chose it because it was free, a "classic", and on the shorter side. It ended up costing me too much of my time, painful, and huge drag. Wow, this was bad. I guess I need someone to explain the significance of this book to me because I just didn't get it.

message 100: by Erin (new)

Erin H First time joining this challenge so I'm going to read Need!!
