I need a new series! help me please!
Yes. Night Huntress is worth reading. It's a great series and very easy to slip right into.I'd also recommend Fever if you haven't read that one.
I don't blame you for not liking HoN. It's not one of the best offerings in YA, and although I still like it, the series as a whole is poorly written and immature. Try Vampire Academy instead. Book 1 is a bit slow, but from book 2 on it's engaging and pretty hot.
You said you loved twilight but not house of night, if you were interested in giving ya another shot you should go with vampire academy. The last book comes out in less than a month.
You have read a lot of great series but I can recommend several other awesome ones. In order of preference I would say psy changeling series by Nalini Singh, mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs and the Succubs series by Richelle Mead as well as Demonica by Larissa Ione. Great series that are not vampire..werewolf but have paranormal aspects are. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon (LOVE this series) and the highlander series by Karen Moning. Good luck. I am in the same boat as you but there are a few on your list I haven't read yet.
Chicagoland Vamps is pretty good too, so I'll give that a nod, but I like Night Huntress better.Mercy Thompson is a very slow build on the romance if you're used to faster paced hookups, but the storyline isn't bad.
Nothing compare to Night Huntress but the best Night Huntress world is EKOD. I so love Mencheres. His is up there with Bones and I didn't really care for him in Night Huntress.
Ahhh...Bones. Everyone can agree on him I think.I haven't read NH world yet. I'm juggling about 20 series right now it feels like and I'm waiting on my library to get me caught up.
It's definitely a UF vs PNR thing. I like both styles for different reasons, but NH sort of appeased me by having the action/plotline of a UF with some immediate gratification hooking up of a PNR.
Everyone has a preference I think. Some people only read books that are PNR heavy, some prefer the grittier stories in the UF's. I like a good book, regardless of the style. If it's good, it's good!
Even with good UF's I like at least some romance by the third book. Some authors tend to drag it out way more than I'd like.
Fever is a slower build on the romance if you prefer UF's but for some reason it never bothered me in that series because I loved it so much.
Black Dagger Brotherhood -Ward is my next series to read. I just hope I like it as much as Night Huntress.
Yes I have read the whole series. I enjoyed them esp inregards to the carpathian vampires. Her other series Mind games and so on are also good.

I have been ..."The Night Huntress series is really good, and so is the spin off series. Cat & Bones are great together. Try Lynn Viehl's Darkyn series. It has a strong set of main characters (Michael & Alex) who book one is about and they then carry into all the books in the series even though each book is about another set of characters.

I have been ..."If you like shifter books, my favorite author is Shelly Laurenston. Here are the shifter series she's written (which should be read in the listed order as the characters in each series appear in the following series):
Magnus Pack series
Pride series
Long Island Coven series
She also wrote Dragon Kin series (unrelated to the above 3 series) under the name G.A.Aiken which are also good.
If you're looking for a series with more books you might try The Dark Series (21 books in all) by Christine Feehan. I enjoyed reading them also thought they weren't my favorite series.
Other series I've read and enjoyed are:
Shifter series by Rachel Vincent
Highlander series by Karen Marie Moning
Fever series by Karen Marie Moning (last book due out in Jan '11
Riely Jensen series by Keri Arthur
Georgina Kincaid series by Richelle Mead (book 6 due out Sept '11)
Dark Swan series by Richelle Mead (book 3 due out March '11 and book 4 title/release date still to be announced)

Well I would suggest the Night Huntress seies as well!!! Very good and adictive! Also I would try the Mortal Instruments...its considered young adult but its an awesome series!
Tynisha wrote: "Well I would suggest the Night Huntress seies as well!!! Very good and adictive! I would recommend that and the hunger games to everyone I meet...and have. =D
I can't be of much help with the series' you asked about and I still have yet to read Night Huntress but if you're up for something fast-paced and lighthearted, I recommend the Jaz Parks series by Jennifer Rardin.

Yea me too...Jace is hot hot hot!!
They are more UF than PR, but I really enjoyed both Stacia Personal Demons series and also her Unholy Ghosts. Another author I like both for her YA and her adult books is Lilith Saint Crow (aka Lili St.Crow) Strange Angels. Someone mentioned Ilona Andrews and let me second that suggestion. You might also try Traveler.
he what? I loved him since book 1, and ill continue to love him regardless. he's like seth cohen...god, I actually prefer him to Jace. Although I do like Jace.
i mean he took too long to tell her how he felt...and I dont think they fit well!! I do like Simon, just not with Clary
Jennifer wrote: "Team Simon! And he is totally Seth Cohen, good call!"Ha, I know right.
I never wanted Simon with Clary...to be honest, I thought he was too good for her. No S/I for me. :D
I've only read the first 2, but I totally love Simon. And I just can't stand the idea of Clary w jace. I have a brother so the idea grosses me out!

I've read so many series over the last 8 1/2 months and plan to read a few more that I am not sure what other series are left. I've used ..."I saw you'd listed the Magnus Pack series by Shelly Laurenston under your read list and her Dragon Kin series under the to be read list. What bout her Pride series and her Long Island Coven series? If you read them, I'd recommend reading the Pride series first then the Long Island Coven series (which has only 2 books so far). Both are just as good as her Magnus Pack series. By the way, you'll like her Dragon Kin series once you read them.
I just read Kalayna Price's Haven series--Once Bitten and Twice Dead. They were great and there's definitely a building romance. It's urban fantasy featuring shapeshifters and vampires. Susan Sizemore's name came up on another list for people who like KCole's books. Just start at the beginning.
Sherrilyn Kenyons Dark Hunter series is awesome. She has a style of writing much like JR Ward so if you enjoy the BDB you will love this series.
These are all UF series, but have romance that develops strongly over the series:Kate Daniels by Ilona Andrews
Night Huntress by Jeaniene Frost (definitely worth it!)
Fever series by Moning
Sirantha Jax by Aguirre (sci fi romance, but more like UF, but romance happens right away)
Chicagoland Vamp by Neill
Women of the Otherworld by Armstrong (romance in first book)
Downside Ghosts by Kane
Harry Dresden by Butcher (the first one is mediocre, but the series is amazing so stick with it, no romance though)
Mercy Thompson by Briggs
Alpha & Omega by Briggs (romance happens right away)
Sookie Stackhouse by Harris
Then my favorite PNR all have a HEA and romance in each book:
Psy-Changeling by Singh
Magnus Pack by Laurentsen
Highlander series by Moning
The Night Huntress series is a favorite by a lot of GR folks but I didn't like it very much. I found Cat to be horrible heroine. Couldn't make it through the second book at all.Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter series is really good though. I'd call it romantic UF. More plot. Less sex but definite romance happening between characters. Her characters and worldbuilding are soooo good!
i found this series at borders the other day and grabbed one because it looked interesting:
but I havent' read it yet to say if its good or not

I also read Twilight and loved it, but I haven't been as interested in young adult, I read the House of Night series by Cast and it kind of annoyed me, although I did read them all and was into it by the end...
I am curious about the Breeds series by Leigh, there seems to be conflicting opinions... I like that it has a lot of books because I read them so fast...
I see the Night Huntress series recommended a lot, but for some reason every time I read the description I decide not to read it... is it worth reading?
Please help!
