I love Murakami, but I haven't read his non-fiction works like What I Talk About When I Talk About Running or Underground. I really love the way he tells a story in Norwegian Wood :) He's a remarkable writer
Ren wrote: "Umm sorry, actually my message at #634 is for Adella not Elfira (the Anne Rice part).I'm not concentrate enough when write it #facepalm@Sheva : Gramedia will never paid attention to that kind of ..."
Yes, maybe because the cover is not that graphic, just like other erotica fiction books. One friend of mine download it, thought that it will be a good romance since it's a best-selling piece and the synopsis looks fine. Now she is really upset and somewhat guilty.

Red Dragon from the Hannibal Lecter series?
Watching The Dark Knight Rises and looking at Bane with his mask remind me so much of Hannibal Lecter. I think Hannibal is the most remarkable villain beside Magneto. Now, I'm looking forward to read Silence of The Lambs, Red Dragon and Hannibal
Currently not reading so much, managed to read So Many Ways to Begin

Yes Sir. It's actually been a great read. Not really in the mood is all.

Just finish re-read Purity in Death, and still read Magic Bites . Its a book that no matter you want to leave it, you still curious to read until finish.
Reading and editing Sugar Rush. Well, not exactly reading as I would do for fun... But there. I don't have much time for reading though I really want to read just as many books as I can. Wanna beat my own record, 30-something books in 2 weeks, which was awesome. Not to mention nuts.
Lately I'm into reading screenplays. Currently reading Tony Gilroy's "Michael Clayton". Will also read Diablo Cody's "Juno" and "Young Adult".
stopped reading Shadow's Master for now(don't know why but the heroine of this book is a turn-off for me) and beginning reading Lord Foul's Bane now. still in chapter 6 now but does anyone know when the cool stuff begin? so far it's still in introduction it seem.
just finished reading The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien and Audition by Ryu Murakami. Now starting on Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None :)
Just started The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas, and my cheeks already blush. I'm afraid I will love Dumas more than I love Shakespeare, who has been my favourite for several years.
Wooow, it's been awhile and so many things happened. I was busy - watching movies, moving out, etc - the past few weeks. Haven't read anything new again but Monsters of Men staring at me from the shelf.
Read The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest a while back, didn't finished it. now reading from the beginning.
@Lynossa: Hey, been a while.
@Lynossa: Hey, been a while.
@Lynossa: dude.. where you been? it's been quiet round these parts.
finished
a couple days ago. i guess i'm currently into my travel books phase. too much work and not enough holidays will get that to you. it was a good one. memorable enough, a little jealousy inducing knowing i could've but i didn't. that sort of stuff. as a whole, it was funny, eye opening and refreshing.
continuing with
because i couldn't find
in kino. somebody else took it in the space of two days that i went back there. curses be upon you and yours, whoever you are. unless you might lend it to me or i find it somewhere else.

God, these scripts give me arggghhh-sooo-good-and-I-wish-I-could-write-like-him kind of feeling. :D
@Sheva: No I haven't. But I know that Before Sunset wasn't Linklater's solo work (if he's who you were referring to). It was co-written by Delpy and Hawke themselves.
edit: Oh and I heard they have a sequel coming next year..

@Reza: Yes, Before Sunrise itself wasn't his solo work, he has a partner named Kim Krizan to created Jesse and Celine, and also Before Sunset (with Delpy and Hawke). It's just when it comes to Before Sunrise-Before Sunset, Linklater always popped on my mind. Hehehe. And yes! They're now filming Before Sunset sequel, but they're so secretive about the shooting location and the title. I was kinda afraid, cause I love Before Sunset's ending so much. I don't know what's going to happen if they make the sequel of the movie with the most lovable ambiguous ending like Before Sunset.

Where should I start? I bought new HD and it's filled with movies, tv series, animes, doramas so I spent most of my time watching movies.
Then I moved to new kostan and since last week I'm busy moving things. The progress is slow since I'm still.. you know, preoccupied with my new HD.
That's why I haven't read anything new.
And what did I just read in other thread about you and new girlfriend? How come I never heard about this? Spill the beans, dude!

Lynossa wrote: "And what did I just read in other thread about you and new girlfriend? How come I never heard about this? Spill the beans, dude!"Hahahahaha, don't be too excited Lynossa, the Indonesian equivalent for what I said in that post is: "Wah, banyak banget ya yang terjadi, Rachel dapet kerja baru, Lynossa pindahan. Jangan-jangan Jati tau-tau bisa aja bawa pacar baru nih pas ketemuan"
What I'm saying is, it's a possibility (and, considering Jati's good look and many other good qualities, it's a likely possibility)
So I'm sorry for the misunderstanding and sorry for my meager English
*bowing deeply to Lynossa and Jati*
Finished reading Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency and now I'm into the sequel The Long Dark Tea-time of the Soul. The first one was quite good and I hope I will have more laughter from the second one.
@oon & @lynossa: ahaha.. words really do cannot describe how good i look. except for "not" and "very". and barely any good qualities at the moment. so no beans to spill. you, on the the other hand, bought a brand new HD full of illegally pirated movies? such an outlaw!! lol
@Oon, you got me excited for nothing. I thought there was a hot gossip or something *sad*
@Jati, pirate is my middle name, lol

Just finished Delirium by Lauren Oliver. I loved the concept and the idea of this book BUT I'm disappointed with how the author carry the story. I'm waiting for something big to happen, and it never happen. It turns out to be another love story. Now I'm reading Wonder by R.J. Palacio I recommend it.
I actually loved Delirium, Liwin. Pandemonium, however, was mega-disappointing.
I completely loved Wonder! Such a great book! :)

Hi, guys, first of all I'd like to introduce myself since I am new in this group. My name is Rara, currently a freelance worker in Jakarta. My favorite authors include Milan Kundera, Stephen King, Doris Lessing, and Jhumpa Lahiri (off the top of my head). I would also like to invite you to contribute to my communal book blog on http://wereadbooks.posterous.com/ - you may write book reviews/summary, or simply share your thoughts about book reading in general. I already have a diverse range of readers as contributors, reviewing various genre from fashion to philosophy to children books, and would love very much to expand that diversity.
Thanks, and looking forward to getting to know you all!
:)
Just finished
. This one is better in delivering more laughter than the prequel but somehow I find it a little disappointing because the lack of the sci-fi elements. And now, based on Elfira's recommendation, I'm unto
.
Just finished
. I love all of the things in this book and it is recommended for all you science-fiction lover. Hmm.. on second thought I can say that this book is too good to be passed. "The Martian Chronicles" have every elements to be a great books and more importantly the story has depth. I guess it is safe for me to say that this book will appeal not only to science-fiction lover, but also to any one of you guys. Many thanks to you Elfira that I read this book. Now I'm unto
. With two days of holiday more, I hope I can finish at least two books.
Just finished Paper Towns by John Green. I loveee the book, more than I thought. My favorite character is of course Q. He has a good heart. I really love the writing-style and the plot. Somehow, I feel attached with Q and Margo, so maybe that's why I love this book. Now, move to A Long Way Down by Nick Hornby. I just saw some Murakami's books and John Green's books has been restocked in Kino GI. I was tempted to buy some, then I remember I still had 3 unfinished books haha. Major problem for a semi book hoarder like me.
I'm still reading Ivanhoe, not yet finished it. It's kind of hard to finish. The story is good this far, and I respect one of the antagonists, which is good.
I'm currently reading Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubertnot sure whether this is the translation of the original version or shortened one though :s
Yusnia wrote: "I'm rereading For One More Day by Mitch Albom. I never bored with it."i have this book but haven't read it yet.

Anyway does anyone here ever read any books by Chetan Bhagat? If not then i would recommend you all to read 2 States: The Story of My Marriageand also i would recommend you to read The 3 Mistakes of My Life by same author.Enjoy the reading :)
Currently starting Terry Pratchett's Discworld (watch novels) Guards! Guards! Looks like a fun read.
I just finished
. Now, I'm so worried with the movie adaption. I will try to not have high expectation and try to enjoy Peter Jackson version of The Hobbit.Currently reading
I am currently reading Agatha Christie's Dead Man's Folly and I'm ready to be an expert in Hercule Poirot's subject ;)
@Onellyantie wow, I'm no expert in Poirot series. But I think can relate to most of the Christie's work. Nudge me for opening topics relates to it. Happy reading.

Hello all, I hope you enjoy the group reading of "Gone Girl." Anyway how about the "Casual Vacancy" group reading? Does anyone know about the price of this book? I have asked to Periplus and Times and they can't tell me what the price will be. But, one of Times employee told me that the price will be 459 000 IDR.@Elfira: you are reading that book! I know you can finish it.
@Onellyantie: I'm more a Sherlock Holmes' expert rather than Hercule Poirot's one, provided I have read all Holmes's stories but only 3 stories of Poirot. Oh anyway, have a happy reading :)
I just finished Please Look After Mother and now I'm unto Lord of The Flies and Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking.
459k, are you serious?? I really thought it would be somewhere between 100-200k -_-. I don't know, actually, how much it would cost. I guess we would have to wait and see.
Well, if the Casual Vacancy is available by the end of Sept, then we will be reading that for October. We can have a group meet at the end of Oct.

Well, the price in TBD is around $28 so it might be around 300k-ish in rupiah. But if it takes 459k, I would rather order in TBD.

I will let you know what I think about Paper Towns, but honestly, I just finished the part one of the book, and I love it so far. I always love to see how one day, something remarkable happens and bring two people to their little bubble of an event that they will remember.
But it's just the part one, I'm going on to part two now.
One thing is, I really love gigantic aquarium filled with beautiful sea creatures, and I found my cheeks blushed while reading the scene of Margo and Q at SeaWorld. But this scene has cautioned me, cause usually when I found the first part of a book is really really cute, they will somehow disappoint me. I hope John Green won't do that for me.
