Sashana As readers, we’ve all become accustomed to reading certain genres. This month, Lauren, Lisarenee, and I would like to really challenge our members to step outside of your reading comfort zones and try something new. After all, November has long since been a month of adventure and new beginnings. To accommodate all of our members we will have a leisure pace for those of you who want to participate while reading other books, a fast pace for those of you who devour you’re books, and a moderate pace for those of you who fall in-between. Below are a list of genres that will help you decide what genre to choose and also the rules of this challenge.

Rules:
1) Decide which Pace you will be reading under
*1 to 3 books- leisure pace
*4 to 6 books- moderate pace
*7 or more books- fast pace

2) Mix and Max your preferred genres. Remember to read outside of your comfort zone.

3) Read and Post as you go.

4) Have Fun!

Sans Great idea, ladies. I'm going to participate. I've got a few books at home that aren't smutty (shocker, I know). Need to go through my TBRs and make up a list.

message 3: by Sans (last edited Oct 27, 2010 01:42PM) (new)

Sans Since this is for November and I have a ton of books to read in my preferred genre, I'm going to elect a leisurely pace.

EDIT: I felt I was cheating with What's Up Down There, so I swapped it out for something I never read if I can help it. A ghost story. I'm so gonna be reading it with all the lights on.

Fortune's Wheel (Sholan Alliance, #2) by Lisanne Norman - straight up sci-fi
The Janus Stone (Ruth Galloway, #2) by Elly Griffiths - straight up mystery
The Woman in Black A Ghost Story by Susan Hill - ghost story *eeeek!*

Sans Lacy, I love that you're reading all romance-y books.

Lacy♪ ♫Movements of a Demigod ♪ ♫ (lb3553) | 466 comments Sans, I really am trying to read different kinds of books and have be for a while now, but if it doesn't have some romance then I'm not really interested. I'm already reading a mystery and a classic this month and it has been a struggle.

message 9: by Sans (new)

Sans The hardest for me is going to be the ghost story that I picked. I'm such a wuss when it comes to non-paranormal romance supernatural stuff. I can't watch Ghost Hunters or anything like that. And my straight up sci-fi has a bit of romance in it but it's a freaking huge book. I usually stick to books that are around 350 pages or less, so I figure it's out of my comfort zone for simply being so big. ^_^

Lacy♪ ♫Movements of a Demigod ♪ ♫ (lb3553) | 466 comments I'm also not a fan of ghost stories or horror. They normally give me nightmares so I say clear of them. I'd say that would definitely be a challenge.

message 11: by Sans (new)

Sans Seriously. I had a hard enough time with the Shirlee Busbee I read a couple months ago and the ghosties weren't in it all that much.

Lacy♪ ♫Movements of a Demigod ♪ ♫ (lb3553) | 466 comments I think that if it has to have ghosts in it then they need to be friendly and not scary. Hopefully your ghost story will be good and not to hard to get thru.
