Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 1143 comments Congrats Furious Five!!! Awesome job & I would just like to say it is now official I have completed my book Kiss of Midnight & so I am posting my thoughts:

Kiss of Midnight-Lara Adrian, 10.19: this is the 1st book in the Midnight Breed Series...I 1st picked this book because of another category for a different challenge I am participating in & I have to say I am a little disappointed in this book. The entire time while I was reading is this I kept asking myself if this was a Black Dagger Brotherhood wanna be? Anyway, the book had pretty much the same storyline as other BDB books-vampire meets beautiful women, vampire falls head over heels in love with beautiful girl, we have war & major death scenes & then we have major sex scenes (which were good but nearly so like BDB)...anyway, I plan to read the 2nd book in the series just dont plan to jump right on that lily pad any time soon. I give this book 3*s...

Thank you, I am - I am feeling much better now that I finished my book LOL - hate being the last one finished :(

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I'm glad. :) No worries! Other teams, mine included, are still pending a stamp for this shelf.

Shelleyrae at Book'd Out | 346 comments Cool - got to start my freespace - got a bit sidetracked at the library the other day :)

message 108: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments Sallie - No worries being the last one! I went through the book quickly since half the team had already finished by the time I joined and I felt like I was behind :)

Shelleyrae - I need side-blinders when I go to the library...my intentions are to pick up 1 book and I leave with 5 more than I needed. Very easily sidetracked ;)

Shelleyrae at Book'd Out | 346 comments Lol Vivian - yup :) I just blogged about my librray lust

message 110: by AmandaG (new)

AmandaG (amandag3) | 122 comments Same way at the library. Even when I pick up holds, which are not in the same area as the other books, I still manage to get a couple more. My car is currently filled with books.
Might be one of the last ones to finish my free space read, since I have to read two other books for another challenge before I can get to it.

message 111: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments mmm, library lust...that's a good term for it.

about the freespace - I keep saying I'm going to read my freespace and end up with another book. I figure there's no real rush yet.

Ditto with the holds! Holds are kept behind the checkout counter and I'll still take a trip through before picking it up. No self-control, hehe.

Jackie M | 695 comments I finished my freespace read last night.

Hunting Ground read October 20, 2010 4 stars.

I thought this book was great. It was good see Anna not be so scared of everyone. I find it funny that she keeps killing , but yet seems so fragile at the same time.
Charles is always thinking that he needs to protect Anna yet she is the one out there doing the killing and pretty much taking care of Charles.
I am looking forward to when Charles and Anna both drop their walls and let each other in completely.

I am looking forward to getting my hands on the next book.

Jackie M | 695 comments Welcome back from your vacation Sallie!

For VAMPIRES-WEREWOLVES

I am either going to go with The Accidental Werewolf or Wicked Game. My choice is depending on which book I can get from the library first, so I will update when I find out.

message 123: by AmandaG (new)

AmandaG (amandag3) | 122 comments I'm going to read City of Bones by Cassandra Clare City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare for this challenge. It may change since I'm still waiting for it on audio from library. Or maybe, I could just read the book instead of waiting for audio. Hmm... decisions, decisions.

message 124: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments Hope you had fun in Nashville Sallie!

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 1143 comments I did - I had a great time...missed Goodreads - going to have to see if Santa will not bring a laptop for Christmas/Birthday combined present - maybe if I hint to the elf he might get the hint...because by Sunday I was having computer withdrawals LOL

message 126: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments Yeah, GR has become quite addicting! And worse, I think I have an addiction to challenges, which I need to curb or I won't ever do anything but read...

message 132: by Jackie M (new)

Jackie M | 695 comments I am going to read The Accidental Werewolf by Dakota Cassidy.

message 133: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments Touch the Dark ***
finished: 10.26.10

I was so confused for probably 80% of the book, in part because of the writing. The author would throw in info dumps right in the middle of an event or conversation, which was a little distracting. Still, I found the overall story pretty engaging and the characters likeable. I am looking forward to the next book, hoping it will be less confusing now that I've got some background info coming into it.

message 134: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments That's another series sitting looking at me on the tbr tower. Glad you liked it enough to continue Vivian.

You girls are rocking!
Lets see for Vampires/werewolves I picked up Claire de Lune at the library last week, so I'll go with that
Claire de Lune (Claire de Lune, #1) by Christine Johnson

message 137: by AmandaG (new)

AmandaG (amandag3) | 122 comments Touch the Dark and Clockwork Angel are two books on by TBR pile. At first I was hearing all sorts of good things about Clockwork Angel, but now, not so much. good review, but I think there was a spoiler in there I wish I wouldn't have read. Maybe I'll forget by the time I get around to reading it?

message 140: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments Oh, Touch the Dark was my vamp-were book, shoulda specified in my review.

Since some of you plan on reading it, I did hear from someone others that while the first book is a little confusing, the next ones don't have that problem, so now I'm even more excited about continuing the story.

message 141: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I agree with them, Vivian. There are bits throughout that series that are all over the place (b/c of her "abilities"), but overall, a good series. :)

Jackie M | 695 comments I finished my Vampires/Werewolves book and will post my review tomorrow.

I am a big fan on the Cassie Palmer series!

message 143: by Shelleyrae (new)

Chance's Dorina Basarab is much better.

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 1143 comments Hi - finished my book for Vampires-Werewolves...I read Breaking Dawn...at this point I gave it 2*s because in all actuality - i really didnt like the book at all...I absolutely loved Twilight but by the time I reached the 4th book I felt like I wasnt in any hurry to finish the series. I have finished it & can honestly say I probably will not read this series again.

message 148: by AmandaG (new)

AmandaG (amandag3) | 122 comments So I was going to do City of Bones as my Were-Vamp read, but Demon from the Dark came up on another challenge and read that one instead.

Demon from the Dark by Kresley Cole by Kresley Cole
4*
I LOVED this book. Who doesn't love a tortured hero? Malkom has had to overcome some tough stuff in his 400 years of life and Carrow is sent to capture him, or else. As usual with the IAD books, the heroines are tough and witty, which creates some very funny parts in the book. The book has some hot scenes too. One of my favorite books in the series. Kresley Cole has created a very multi-layered world and the only problem is that sometimes it can be a while between books, so I may forget some things that have happened in one of the previous 9.

Jackie M | 695 comments VAMPIRE-WEREWOLVES
Read on Oct 27, 2010 4 stars

This was a cute story about Marty a cosmetic door to door sales rep who accidentally gets bit (more like gets her hand caught in the mouth) by a werewolf who she thought was just a big dog. Marty's lonely life takes a sudden turn as she deals with becoming a werewolf and trying to avoid being kidnapped.I thought this book was pretty funny, there were plenty of times I laughed out loud. The only thing I thought was strange was for Keegan being an alpha he didn't seem to be very alpha like. When I think of a werewolf alpha I think domineering, strong personality, and not taking no for an answer. Keegan kinda fell flat on these things because he didn't tackle some issues head on, to me he had the out of sight out of mind mentality. Overall I enjoyed this book and will continue on with the series
