The cheapies at Big W are $3-94 (weird I know) and are pretty crappy old historicals & strange weird books, nothing up to date. *sigh* But I always look anyway, optimistic that's me!
You never know. You just might find a treasure. I've occasionally found newish releases in a thrift store. It's definitely hit or miss; but if you don't look, you just might miss something good! I rarely go to Walmart, but now I'll have to go see if our local store has that bin.
Saturday is usually my day to sleep in a little, but the library's quarterly book sale is tomorrow. ::Sigh:: I guess I'm just going to have to sacrifice a few hits on the snooze button to go chase bargains. LOL.

Definitely sounds worth it, if the selection is good. Hope you found some great buys/sales! :D
UF/PNR were pretty much nonexistant. I did find a couple and also some good finds in other genres.
Also picked up some movies:
Bubba Ho-Tep My brother just informed me that this is one of the BAD Bruce Campbell cheesy movies, not one of the good cheesy ones. Oh well!
Pathfinder
Windtalkers
Sliding Doors
Wide Awake
Just got a delivery from Better World Books, all 2nd hand in good condition (cheaper than BD) YAY!!-
*PERK!* "Better World Books" ..... gonna check it out. ;) Great hauls, ladies! Hope you enjoy Stephanie Rowe's series, Sandra. That one made me LOL, so funny. Ooooh and #1 Rachel book. Cool!Welcome to the group, Grace! Hope you enjoy your recent buys.
While running errands yesterday, some on base, I popped into the book store for a book for Mom. Turns out they had piles of
, which was super surprising b/c it was rls'd yesterday, I think. Couldn't resist buying it. And, there were still plenty copies of River Marked (Of.Course!). While mine still hasn't made it to my tiny island.
Yeah, it's your fault I picked up the Stephanie Rowes'. LOL. But I'm missing #2 as I wasn't gonna pay an arm & a leg for it. That's what happens when you go looking for 2nd hand & they only had it new. And BWB now has free shipping (as long as you don't use marketplace) so it makes it more viable. Sometimes they are cheaper than BD sometimes not. Just gotta check each book.
LOL! Ah, sorry 'bout that. ;) Hope you can find it cheaply. I'd share mine, but alas, eBook. I've bookmarked the site, I'll try to remember to check their price before BD. I may also use them in the future for donations.
I have no doubt, Big Book Hunter. ;) *sung in my Crock Hunter voice* LOL!Seems to be. Thanks for sharing it.
Everything I've bought and downloaded in the past month:Paper & Hardbacks
Kindle Reads
Free e-Reads
Kindle Freebies
Saying "no" to anything free is a Herculean task. I can't believe I've acquired so many books in a month. *blushes* At least I've read 17 of these all ready.
Steph wrote: "*PERK!* "Better World Books" ..... gonna check it out. ;)..."Ditto. I am so taking a closer look at that website after noticing books under £2.50 = $3.98 (exchange rate atm).
For anyone in the UK, surrounding islands and Ireland, I present to you The Book People. The bargains I've found:
True Blood / Sookie Stackhouse by Charlaine Harris - 10 books - £9.99
The Immortals by Alyson Noel - 4 books - £6.00
Kitty Norville by Carrie Vaughn - 3 books - £4.99
The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare - 3 books - £7.99
- 3 books - £4.99
- 1 book - £3.00
Ames ~ Great haul, Missy! I agree, hard to pass on any freebies! How are you liking the Weather Wardens? I've never read them, but have a few on-hand.
I've only read the first book, years ago because at the time I thought it was a stand alone due to the ending but I plan on continuing with the series.
Maybe each one ends in a way so that they can be read out of order? Well, either way, hope you like 'um.
I ordered from Amazon these books, pb and HB.
the re-release in HB
Picked up form Ellora Cave and Samhain
ebook
ebook
ebook and four other ebooks I can't remember the names of.LOL and I can't tell from all that I have picked up,freebies, over the last couple weeks which one I bought last week.
When it was eweek, I picked up almost 80 books, then downloaded another 50 in the past couple days, mostly books for the grandkids who we will be keeping for most of the summer.
LOL The third book I bought from Amazon was
I don't know if that counts, however, VBG
Jlyates wrote: "I ordered from Amazon these books, pb and HB...I bought that preserving book. It has a very good roasted red pepper sauce that I make every year. Delicious!
So, what does a gal do when she's waiting to find out furloughed or not? She goes shopping, of course (it was planned shopping trip -- the timing just sucked). And what does she buy? Books. Oh, and clothes -- but you don't what to hear about that. There were a few re-buys (needed/wanted the book again).
The books:
I got home Friday after work and there was a book in my mailbox, one of the Goodreads giveaways. I won a copy of
. Now I just have to figure out how to squeeze it in soon so i can post a review. What made you pick it up, Christina? You have some other great books there too. I was planning on going book shopping this weekend until I broke my glasses earlier this week. I can't believe how much frames have gone up in the past few years, left my checkbook gasping for mercy. LOL. I'm seriously going to have to figure out how to squeeze in a few new releases. PB & J anyone?
Daffodil wrote: "I got home Friday after work and there was a book in my mailbox, one of the Goodreads giveaways. I won a copy of

I went through B&N with one of those little baskets. Filled it right up. The Julie Kenner series and Liu's Tiger Eye were re-buys (I like the reissue covers better).
Since it's only me, I'm a soup/sandwich person anyway. ;-) If I hadn't had the money put aside already, I probably wouldn't have spent half as much.
I've read the first Blood Lily book and plan to read the rest. I've never read any of the Dirk & Steele, though they look interesting. There's just so many series out there now and so little time to get around to them. Alien in the Family is one I was really looking forward to. I just love that series, I have since Kitty pulled out the pen. LOL.

I hope to read the Touch by an Alien soon. :-)
Great haul, Christina! Hope everything works out with your job. Furloughed :( hopefully not!I've very interested in Deadworld, so I'll be lookin' forward to your reviews, ladies. :)

Thanks! :)
I've just received
and
along with Night Huntress series, I think I'm really going to enjoy my Easter holidays this year!!
Yay! Great books, CA! All a fave of mine. Just a note, after chatting PNR v. UF in your other thread, Ione's Demonica and Ward's BDB are both PNR, so they'll feature a different Hero/ine with a HEA in each. Glad to see you're movin' along with Kate Daniels, fantastic series!
And, seeing your Song of Scarabaeus has reminded me that I'm anxiously awaiting my copy of #2, Children of Scarabaeus.
ENJOY!
I'll have that in mind, Steph. Thanks!I loved the Kate Daniels world and setting, and she's fun! And I'm anxious to read more Curran. He's not my favourite male hero but since it seems everybody like him so much, I suppose I'm still missing something. Makes me want to read more.
I'm also very curious about Fever. I've only read good things about it from you guys. Same goes for Song of Scarabaeus.
I've no doubt you'll come to love Curran too. You're still in the early books of the series. Give it time. ;)
Well they've announced that all but 1 Borders will be closing in my state and guess which one is staying open - Bondi, yes of the beach fame. But its a long way from my place, so I just had to visit another one closer to me, hehe
Good haul! :D But, sorry to hear it's b/c of another B&M BS failing. :( Seems to be happening all over.
Kindle Spring Spectacular at the UK store for lots of cheap reads BUT the same books appear to be cheap at the US store too even though they don't seem to be advertising it.These are the ones I bought:
Some others that are available:
Off to check for eFreebies and lowbies. :) Thanks for the head's up, Ames. BTW - Declaration sounds interesting, I'll have to check that one out. Seems dystopia is the new YA trend. I'm diggin' it, since I enjoy them, but hope they don't wear it out.
ETA: Got Deadworld! Yay! Thanks!
ETA2: Ok, never mind my "dystopia is the new YA thing" as I see Declaration was originally published in 2007. :)
