Lannister (lannisteruk) | 10911 comments I've been reading in the UK news about a huge storm engulfing the south of England, so to our friends in the group who live there, stay safe!

Soo Happy for you, Zeenat!!!

Duca (sapphireofslytherin) | 468 comments Thanks Lanni! It's pouring quite badly at the moment but no great wind (haha!) that I can see yet.

Congrats Zeenat! Wow that's some achievement, I don't think I'd be able to work on one thing that long. Your perseverance must be off the charts!

Claire (claire1) | 4451 comments YAY ZEENAT!

I've been kind of dying between homework and ballroom and potential relationships. I have no idea what's going on...but I've missed you guys!

Llaph (llaph) | 3285 comments Ugh, had the test for my nerves this afternoon. I thought it would just be the shock stuff again … nooooo. It was, but there was a part of the test that I didn’t get the last time I had it done. That was the f’ing needles part. He stuck a needle: at the base of my index finger then asked me to flex it, the base of my thumb, my forearm, the nerve by my elbow (the funny bone nerve, I got a wiki-ish story about that, I also said a guy probably thought of that … humerous, funny, harhar), my bicep, my shoulders, then up my neck in 3 spots. He did that for both the left and right sides … not … fun … at … all. I get to get an MRI for my neck to see what is up, he thinks I might have a herniated disk in my neck which is causing my numbness. He was adamant that it was not neuropathy…. Good and bad I guess, the idea of surgery there is rather scary … deal with it or get the surgery done? Pffft, dunno yet!
My damn muscles hurt now, especially my shoulders where he tested. I also have the fun of the phantom pains from where he put in the needles…. I asked him if he was a licensed acupuncturist … he said no and gave me the professional designation. I told him that it didn’t sound cool enough. When I get nervous I babble and tell bad jokes!

Arushi | 3652 comments I finished Tempt The Stars. Now I remember having a conversation about what we wanted first, the next Dory book or the Cassie book. I know we are getting Reap the Wind but still. And of course I do not remember which thread we had that discussion in. Sigh.

I reread Fury's Kiss (actually am rereading the whole Dory series now) and yep, I want the next Dory book first. But I will happily settle for Reap the Wind coz I think the Cassie meeting with Dory will take place in it. Kinda makes sense right?

message 2060: by Lannister (new)

Lannister (lannisteruk) | 10911 comments If it were down to me, I'd want the next Dory book too ... but ... I'm glad that RtW seems to be mostly written going by KC's comments and I'm hopeful we'll get a book in less than a year. So although I'd prefer the next Dory, I will happily settle for a Cassie book in a (hopefully) relatively short period of time. And if RtW draws the plot lines closer to Dory's story, so much the better.

I don't remember in which thread we discussed the next book either. No worries. :) (But just a little reminder that the spoiler policy is still in place for another couple of weeks, so no discussion of TtS plots outwith the spoiler thread, pretty please!)

The real question is ... where's Masks? GIVE US MIRCEA!!

Duca (sapphireofslytherin) | 468 comments WHAT LANNI SAID! I need a glimpse inside that sneaky sneaky head so I have more theories to play around with for the next several months :P

message 2062: by Lannister (new)

Lannister (lannisteruk) | 10911 comments I have this feeling KC might wait until December before we get Masks. She released a Pritkin short as a Xmas pressie to us last year so I'm thinking we might get the same again this year.

I can't wait to get inside Mircea's head!

Llaph (llaph) | 3285 comments Funny = my 80lbs dog hiding at the foot of my chair and desk from the thunder I can't even hear yet. Good thing I like to sit cross leggeded ... have to stretch a bit to type though. It is a good thing I don't use a mouse!

We are dog sitting for friends, a 50 lbs pit and some terrier mix. We have done it before, but that was before we got Boomer. He usually hangs out in my bed, especially in the morning after my dad goes to work, (he is a traitor dog atm) that is usually Wendy and Spot's spot when they are hear and they slept there. Boomer was indignant, he decided to try and wake me up with his cold nose in my back. He kept bugging me till I moved closer to the wall so his big ass could't reach me, he was acting all "wtf llaph they are in my spot". Wendy and Spot got down--to go do doggy stuff I guess--and Boomer got up there and sniffed around. Then he fluffed his blanket some, flopped down, waited a bit, then let out a big ass sigh and got down.
He has turned into a spoiled brat lol.

Yep! I had one who used to love sleeping with her head in my Mom's lap. She was this huge German Shepard too, and would squeeze in the middle of the bed (or the rug, or whereever we were), and then just spread and spread, until we were all nearly falling off, or on the floor. Then she slept peacefully. Utter brat!!

Claire (claire1) | 4451 comments I FINISHED MY PAPER!!!

But also just nearly died of embarrassment reading part of Lysistrata by Aristophanes in front of my Ancient Greek history class. Who knew the Ancient Greeks had dildos? Not me, until reading out loud in front of a lecture of 80 people.

Lannister (lannisteruk) | 10911 comments I'm very sad because the courier has lost my parcel with my next Scott Lynch book. The bastards!!

Amazon has refunded me and I've ordered again, but it'll be next week before it arrives. Sigh.

I decided to bite the bullet and ordered the third book in the series while I was at it, even though it's hardback. It was only £8 so I suppose that's not horrendous for a hardback. So another week before I catch up with Locke. :(

message 2072: by Arushi (new)

Arushi | 3652 comments @Zeenat - LMAO!!! Speaking of chocolate, we made a bastard version of fudge today, and then rolled it into chocolate balls and then covered them with a mix of powdered sugar and cocoa. I am feeling extremely accomplished :)

@Claire - Congrats on finishing the paper. That would be embarrassing but I am so impressed by you. Physics and Ancient Greek.. so many talents :)

Arushi | 3652 comments I was wondering is anyone else participating in this year's NaNoWriMo?? I am and its been good so far, then again I am only two days in.

Also, I started going to the gym. Its been two days and I am motivated but I swear every muscle I have sore right now. I never even knew I had some of these muscles before they started hurting.

message 2078: by Arushi (new)

Arushi | 3652 comments Ela and Anna - are you guys participating? Please say yes!!! be my buddies there?

@Llaph - I just added you as a buddy. Hope that is okay?

@Zeenat - It is kinda cool and I am having fun and writing more than I had in a long while. But it does take up time so I dunno if you would have the time with your defense coming up. If you want to, give it a try anyways?

Of course I am being selfish. The more friends I have there, the more likely I am to actually write.

And please ignore the fact that Diwali was technically yesterday (though believe me, here it is a week long thing) and I have no idea where my day went!

Arushi | 3652 comments SARAH!!! I feel like its been FOREVER since I 'saw' you. I miss you!! Have you checked your email recently, btw? Please do!

I haven't yet gone through the nominations yet but I remember that I was disappointed last year. But the readers added a bunch of good books later on, like FK.

message 2083: by Anna (new)

Anna | 1680 comments I've added TTS. It's annoying the way the prompts work. I voted for another book before I remembered TTS was eligible.

Happy Diwali Arushi. No I won't have time to write :( happy to hear more about it and read your though. How do you join in if you want to; I think my son would go for it...

@Arushi:
I haven't had a chance to login yet, don't have the chance right now either wtf, but it is okay with me. I probably wouldn't have noticed it unless you told me ... I am clueless like that. lol
.oO(Must finish everything so I can do what I want)

message 2086: by Arushi (new)

Arushi | 3652 comments @Anna - thanks!! Its a pity but yeah, since I am already running behind. I can totally relate.
I didn't vote in PN and Fantasy yet. I actually like a bunch of book in those sections. At least in PN I can add TtS.

@Llaph - Lol, I see. Hope u get some time to write :)

I know. It's the same for me. We just bought a house and I'm really busy with that. Hope to have more time soon.

message 2088: by Claire (new)

Claire (claire1) | 4451 comments @Sarah Congratulations, that's great!

HAhah thanks for the compliments, guys.

This weekend was our first major ballroom dance competition. I got up at 4am on Saturday, got to bed by midnight, and then had to be up again at 5:15 on Sunday. I'm still tired, but my partner and I made it to Quarter-finals in American waltz, tango, foxtrot, and Viennese waltz. Which is really good, considering we only practiced for two weeks together.

Unfortunately, I got stomped on in first round cha cha, and my foot is all swollen. It hurts to walk. Some girl was going backward and didn't see me, so I took a high heel to the instep. Predictably, Latin didn't go well =p

Still I had a lot of fun!!

How was everyone's weekend?

message 2089: by Anna (new)

Anna | 1680 comments Just reinforces my feeling that exercise is dangerous- even if it looks beautiful! Well done Claire. Feel tired just thinking about it!

Congratulations Sarah! I'm sending you a balloon - I'm visualising something like Pritkins cottage but with less fey heritage!

Zeenat (zeekwon) | 6376 comments I have more good news.... and Sarah and Arsuhi, no saying anything on facebook! But I'm pregnant :) My husband and I have been trying for over 2 and a half years and tried fertility treatments and none of them worked. But while he was gone I lost a bit of weight and started naturally ovulating. 3 months home... :) I'm really excited! No morning sickness yet, but SUPER tired already. I'm so behind in all my reading and writing and I have my defense coming up... Super overwhelmed right now.

@Sarah - Congratulations on the house!! That sounds really cool. I want pictures!!! And I am sure things will calm down soon :)

@Claire - That sounds awesome and terrible at the same time. I recently started going to the gym and an hour there just about kills me. I cannot even imagine what you describe. Which also means that I am insanely impressed.
