The Sport Spot - Comment here on what's happening in the world of Aussie sports!
I should have changed the order. the last report was the most important one. ;)
We weren't even in the contest, only 1 vote.
I work for one of the people involved in the bid process. There is going to be a lot of navel gazing and finger pointing.
Carmel wrote: "The ques is also, were we ever in the race and are these decisions made before the bids are even submitted? Would be a terrible shame if that was the case. I love soccer, used to play it, so am disappointed:( "
Me thinks not. I haven't seen the actual video, only heard about it. By the time people make the decision all the shmuzzing has already been done. The video would not make any difference.

And they are doing APPALLINGLY (if there's such a word!) 2 for 0, and now 3 for 2!!! They might have to improve just a little.....
Now this is what a sports thread should be about. :D
Sorry guys, won't be online for awhile now...going to get my grandson from pre-school! You'll have to rely on another 'sporty'! :)
Well, I think the final score for the Aussies was 8 for 234 or something similar. England started their batting and were 0 for 1 at end of play. (I think) :)

Excellent sports commentating there Brenda - you should take it up professionally!

Well, the poms have lost their first wicket..their captain!! 1 for 14!! But I'm sorry I won't be able to keep it up today, have to babysit from midday for the rest of the day!!! So, maybe Polk has the answer!:)
Thanks Mandy!! Dont think I'll take up the commentating position...hahahaha!!

What abandoning the post? You were doing so well at taking wickets.
Thanks guys for the 'pardon' from commentating! Had a wonderful day with the girls..:) Of course, at 2 for 317 at stumps, it wouldn't have been good to watch anyway!!Haha!!
Hey, Carmel, am I insulted about the Richie Benaud comment...I'm not quite that old..nor do I have that 'voice' hahaha..but I could take it as a compliment! Have to think on that one......

I think it's time to start talking about the weather. :(
Carmel what is wrong with Australian cricket? There just doesn't seem to be any young quality cricketers coming through. We don't want it to rain we want to grind those pommies into the dirt. It's torture in the reverse.
I'm adding my own dance to the mix. Maybe if we all join in we might get a result rain.
Well, with the Aussies over 300 runs behind, I'd say the miracle will need to be quick!!!! OMG..they are HOPELESS!!

I'm ready. I played a season of womens cricket when I was 22. Just a few years ago *cough, cough*. I couldn't be any worse.
I play baseball now. I think we are in for sure Carmel.

I imagine there's going to be a lot of blood letting after this test.

Does anyone have the stomach to tell me what has happened in the cricket? Or don't I want to know?
I think we are in the knock down and rebuilt phase. :P
Hmmmph I am not counting my chickens. This is only the first innings. Okay up date they are now 6 fa...
If anyone is interested in the Sydney/Hobart yacht race, you can track the progress of the yachts on www.rolexsydneyhobart.com/yacht_track...
I followed them like this last year, as we had a nephew sailing, and it's really interesting.

t is always a great weekend in sport when the Wallabies beat the Frogs. The scrum problems disappeared when Benn Robinson replaced Ben Alexander with James Slipper moving to the tighthead side. Berrick Barnes also stiffened the mid-field defence, and with James O’Connor kicking assuredly, Matt Gitteau may find it tough to get back into the starting side. With Digby Ioane to return (probably for Drew Mitchell), the Wallaby backline for the World Cup is taking shape.
Cricket
Cricket Australia has realised it is short of New South Welshmen and has added Doug the Rug, with Ryan Harris, to the squad for Adelaide. It is hard to imagine a result on the batting friendly surface, given the ineffective bowling attacks of both sides. It may be Marcus North’s last test. Being Ricky Ponting’s (golf) partner will not save him if he does not get any runs and the side doesn’t take 20 wickets. What may save him is that his main rivals, Smith and O’Keefe, both turn the ball the same way as the incumbent mainline spinner (Xavier Doherty) and his back up (Michael Clarke).
My 11yr Old sons State Cup Baseball Team
Bankstown defeated Ryde in the Little League State Cup Major Semi-Final 9-4. The clean-up hitting shortstop for Ryde made some good outs but flied out to centre field when a better result was needed. There was a talent scout from the Texas Rangers there. The big bucks cannot be far away.
