Thankfully a clear victory. Hopefully now we can get into some summer sports. :D
The Ryder Cup is currently on. It is a golf tournament, USA v's Great Britian slogging it out for victory and honour. Why am I including it here? It's currently being held in Wales and David pops his head in every now and then to say hello. Go the Brit's. The Welsh country side is devine. Here is a link to the course.

It's on at the moment but most of Friday was lost to the rain and it's not looking too good for Sunday.

Bummer, I only caught a few minutes this afternoon. The weather is not that much better here. It's a long weekend and it is wet as...
Current position
USA up 2 1/2 to 1 1/2 after the four balls
I like playing four ball it's a fun way to play golf

I've never played, I used to caddie as a kid but I got bored and I was never good at keeping quiet.
Hahahahaha, not a good trait for a caddie.

I hope it all goes well for them. The opening ceremony is reported to showcase all the culture and colour of India with Bollywood style. Oscar winning composer AR Rahman, of Slumdog Millionaire fame, will perform. He also composed the Delhi Commonwealth Games anthem.
Dancers hit the stage as Indian composer AR Rahman unveils the Commonwealth Games theme song.

Casey Stoner gave a wonderfully smooth and controlled performance to win the Japanese Moto GP a few minutes ago. He was really on song and Rossi showed a decent return to form. Good for Ducati to beat the Janpanese in their own backyard. Well done, Casey.

Hahahahahahahahahahaha. Mandy I got 4 out of 20 and I guessed those. I fail as a sports guru. :D
I am loving the Commonwealth Games. I watched the Women's hockey last night. My daughter plays so we have a special interest. But damn it. Every time they when to a break we scored. Australia won 11 nil. I think I saw one goal live. #&$@$#!! >:(
LOL, obviously your guesses were better then mine. It go to the stage as I progressed through the quiz that I didn't have a clue what happened on the weekend. I then changed tactics, I started to try and get 'zero' correct. Once I started to aim for a zero result I started to get the answers right. Go figure.
Just finished watching an exciting finish -- the gold medal play off between the Hockey Roo's and the Black Sticks (NZ). Two all at full time saw a nail biting penalty shoot out. Victory to the Hockey Roo's!!!!
I haven't been following the Commonwealth Games that closely, after a while it becomes a little embarrassing how dominant we are. I have started barracking for anyone who can beat us.:/

Did you see her interviewed on the Today Show when she was saying. "He's a champion and he's a very handsome boy!". She was so cute!
It is like a replay of the Hockey last night. It went into extra time then into a penalty shoot out. (Also Aust v NZ)
Casey Stoner on pole at Philip Island, I trust all you Aussie sports fanatics are going to cheer him along. At least watch him on TV, I have to get up at 6am on a Sunday to watch the race. Go Casey!
It’s great to have your enthusiasm in here David. I'll catch a few minutes of the race between chores tomorrow. :D
Casey Stoner ran away with the Australian Moto GP, a superb ride by him and some interesting battles behind. According to those who know about these things, the Ducati is far from the easiest bike to ride but Casey makes it look easy, that's the real measure of the man.
My baseball team (The G&T's) won on the weekend. For various reasons this was the first full game I've played. I had always considered baseball a bit of a joke as a sport. I play mainly for the socialising after the game (The esky after the game lasts longer than the game itself). Today every muscle in my body is sore. It could be an indication that I'm not as fit as I used to be. :D
Opposition were obviously hopeless, I managed to get on base each time I batted.

Im a big Port Adelaide fan, and hopefully we make the 8 this season :)
Fooy, The G&T's had a 4-4 all draw today. I succeeded in getting out a new way (for me). I was tagged trying to steal from 1st to 2nd. The 1st base coach took full responsibility. He should never have sent me. I slid for the first time and got tagged in the chest region, hmmmm.
Sport this weekend... Go the Wallabies. The Wallabies have won their last two games. A miraculous win over the All Blacks last weekend, our first victory in 10 test matches. This weekend we played Wales. (Where is David?) We won of course. The Welsh commentators were confused by our victory. How could we win without a kicker or a scrum...? We score tries that’s how. Wahooo.
A new comp. this year has started for any of you interested in Baseball. The Australian Baseball Leaguekicked hit off this weekend seeing victory by the Sydney Blue Sox over the Canberra Cavalry apart from the lame names I can't watch it because it's not covered by free-to air. We will be taking the kids to a game when they play in Sydney next time. Baseball is a fun family (if unAustralian) event.

Soccer: The Socceroos got smashed by Egypt 3-0. The owner of the company I work for travels with the team. He is not going to be a happy chappy when he returns to the office next week. :(
Baseball: Sydney Blue Sox lost to Brisbane Bandits last night. I am hoping there are no QLD baseball fans in the group otherwise I might cope a bit of stick.
More sport updates later.

I'll get back to more national/state sports later on in the day hopefully. I just wanted to brag about my son's State Cup baseball team.
His team started the season very poorly. They were to play only 7 games. They lost the first 4 games and looked like finishing the season without a victory. By some miracle they won the next 3 games, a little argy barby between coaches and my son's team made the finals. The finals, Sunday saw us up at 6.30am travelling to some ungodly place for 2 hours warm up for a 2 hour game. (Those coaches are so keen). The boys started out very flat. After two innings were down 6 to 2, at that point the boys (and Sophie) woke up. The third innings saw a change of lead. Son's team were now up 8-6, 4th innings 10-6, 5th in 13 - 6. Change of pitcher, nerves starting to show. Final score 13 – 9, there was a lot of celebrating. Next weekend his team play the loser of 1v2. They have come a long way and we are very proud of them.

The Wallabies bounced back with a victory against the Italians by 34 – 14. Berrick Barnes was more polished than one of his own haircuts, kicking goals from all over the paddock. Quade Cooper managed his first tackle of the year and it is only November! We will need to be better to challenge the Frogs this weekend.
Cricket
Back at home the focus is shifting to the First Test of the Ashes cricket series in Brisbane later this week. The aussie selectors have chosen a squad of thirteen containing only six players from New South Wales, (plus another who lives here). Unless we want to forfeit the regaining of the urn, then Hughes, Khawaja, O’Keefe, Copeland, Cameron and Starc need to be fast tracked into the side.

Love it Gail!!
I heard that there is a meeting soon to decide if Free-to-air TV retains the rights to our biggest sporting events on TV. It would be a shame if things like the State of Origin, the Ashes series and the Melbourne Cup to name just a few, went to pay TV!
It's going to be very hard to resist the pull of pay TV if the Ashes series are lost to free-to-air.

Siddle took a personal best 6-54 from 16 overs and should have had seven wickets when Brad Haddin grassed Jimmy Anderson before the English tailender had scored. Any questions about Siddle’s selection ahead of Doug Bollinger were erased in a dramatic over 10 minutes before drinks in the last session. Read more.

Take that England! Woot woot!
Thanks for the awesome post Mandy. :D
I am a bit sad about Dougies demise. :(

I know this must be a stupid question but who's Dougie?
Shame on you Mandy. You should reread msg 100. Who is Dougie!!!!!!

LOL! Sorry Sandra and Gail. I should read my own messages before I ask questions...

"Defiant centuries by Andrew Strauss and Alastair Cook have made them England's most successful opening pair. And they have threatened to ruin Australia's hopes of reclaiming the Ashes as they swung the momentum in the first Test at Brisbane's Gabba.
If Australia cannot bowl England out twice in Brisbane it will struggle on the flatter wickets that will follow, forcing the selectors to begin casting around for a more potent attack." Read more.
