The Sport Spot - Comment here on what's happening in the world of Aussie sports!

But on the other hand, YEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!

The next four weeks are very important and should determine just how good we are.

Agreed, Jess, especially West Coast and Freo. They'll really test our mettle.

If we win 3 of the next 4 though, who knows?

Great game, although I was on the edge of my seat screaming at the TV for the entire time. Pretty happy with how the boys stood up to a tough side in a pressure situation, although just like last year the Eagles' goalkicking was atrocious.

If Rugby 7s, golf, tae know do and synchronised swimming are in, then why not our great game?

Because very few other countries play the game. Rugby is played world wide as is golf and tae whatever. You've got me beat with synchronised swimming though. I though I heard it was being taken out.
There is very strict criteria for a sport to be included - and a majority of participating countries has to play it before an application can even be made. Also the hosting nation gets to pick which sports it wants included to a maximum of 28. There are 25 core sports that it must have and then a list that the other 3 can be picked from.

Because its not played outside Australia

According to the AFL website, Aussie Rules is played in 19 countries outside Australia, with more than 100,000 participants overseas. So there is a way to go, but the quest to seize the five glittering rings has already begun. We just don't know it yet!

What is AFL?

Well, now that's interesting. For those of us who are not Aussies, here is the Wikipedia site about the game.

But philosophical Dale! It's early in the season too, and Port played the better game by far!

Scrappy game for Port, hopefully they get their asses in gear for Freo.
Also I cannot stand games at non-venues. Wellington or Darwin or Hobart or Canberra. They're lucky if they get a thousand people in, including TV and crew. They can get their own bloody footy teams if they want games.

I hate this state sometimes.
I also liked that the Crows crowd was booing Bernie Vince - the Crows kicked him out, what did they expect, he was just going to retire?

I'm a Parramatta fan wondering if our success early in the season is for real,or is it just another cruel tease from my favourite team.
No matter,Eels for life!

One player who's been absent for 60% of games and one player who sprays a dozen goals.

DEFINITELY going to Hawthorn - 7pm start, no excuse not to get there :P I have not been to the footy in an absolute age though so I'll probably drag someone along so I'm not terrified.

Adelaide Oval is the best thing to happen to South Australian sport and possibly the city.

Might have to treat myself to a Gold or Platinum one then...

This will be my view from my new Gold Membership seat in the Eastern stand :D

My wallet is a little sore but it's payday, so I can safely ignore it for now :P

Followed by that crows loss, it was a good weekend of sports results aha

Monfries, Hartlett and Jonas to come back too :)

Wingard should be fine, he was up and about late in the game and afterwards was pretty chipper apparently, more cross with himself than anything else. There's a bit of a shadow over Hartlett, I don't think Kenny is very happy with him giving away an easy ban like that. Concerned about a lot of players today, Matty White and Robbie both pulled up short with their legs a couple of times. Bit of a worry :(
Odds that Schulzy gets a one-match ban for when he slapped that Dees player in the chest? Looking forward to Gus and Jonas being back, though.
So many people on social media calling for Jasper to get the boot - I love the guy :(

Concerned about Boak too, will probably miss the next game from that no risk policy thing. Lots of small injuries, hopefully everyone is fit for the sydney game.
Also Jess, Michael, either of you going to the game on Saturday? If you get me a copy I'll do your washing up for a month!
