Suz | 4436 comments The other night I heard a loud noise, but thought nothing of it as I could go straight back to sleep. I got up and put my laptop away and got into the day. Later the next day, opened up my laptop to fiddle on GR I imagine, and the screen was badly cracked. First daughter solved the my mystery, she'd moved the picture that had fallen off the wall when she got up for school, and as I had gone to use my laptop the next day, I didn't put two and two together. I cannot believe the picture fell off the wall and broke my laptop.

that's so strange Suzanne! Your daughter should be a detective. What a mystery to solve. The insurance company will nod their head slowly at that one.

Yeh, I will check it out. I am going into Southbank and the Art Gallery so I will duck in there. I have a strict rule for myself that I only buy books that I want to own. So hopefully I won't get tooooooo many :P

That's a good rule that I normally stick to as well. But in the presence of so much excess, I might be tempted beyond my abilities to refuse!

Kathryn | 3569 comments Brenda wrote: "Lol! That's why the books have page counts here on GR Kathryn :) To make it easier for us all ;)"

Not much easier, because I still have to work out the % of what I've listened to, and then go and find out the page count for the actual book and work out how many actual pages I've listened to according to the percentage... Not to mention keeping track of what page numbers I started at in my other "proper" books that I'm reading! But...I guess I could do it for a change... I'll head over to thread now.

I'm not too sure if it's feasible, as it's a $600 laptop. Need to look into it.. I have an iPhone 6 and and iPads, as well as the kids having two iPad minis. My husband hid them from 3yo Indy and can't find them! Have I mentioned the word 'crazy' when it comes to my family? There is also a desktop in the office but that is outside in the garage - so adding books etc isn't enjoyable as it's too cold!!! It's managable though. I really shouldn't be complaining I guess!

oooh you've reminded me Vicki. We do have the kids phones set up, it's very good! But by now the ipads would be flat as it's been a couple of weeks... but when I do find them I'm going to set them up. Thanks Vicki you're our IT guru :)) What do you think about fixing screens? I do have an IT guy to ask but haven't gotten around to it. I'm thinking excess etc isn't worth it at all.

friends who have used both say they prefer Kindle. I was in the market for a new ereader [Kobo on the blink]. Also, in terms of content and deals there is noticeably more available for Kindle.

I never hated my Kobo per say - but it needs to rebooted often and regularly due to freezing. Also, the page turning is quite laggy.

Good to know. I have a kindle but never knew the pros and cons...though I do like it...and I also have the kindle App on my ipad and ipod so my books get downloaded to all three without extra cost ;) so if one is running low on battery I can always switch over. It's also convenient as you are rarely without a book.
