2 1/2 hours and should be home - feet up wine poured!!!
The only concession to Halloween is that I am making a stuffed roast pumpkin for tea tonight - quick and easy to prepare then throw in the oven for an hour - viola!!

Jealous! Not of the heat, but of overlooking the ocean!

No problem with my phone - maybe it's the iPhone 5 Suzanne?

No, I actually hate the heat Suzanne! Why did we come up here at this time of year you ask??? I'm really not sure!! lol
I was **perspiring** freely from first thing this morning in Maclean - so you can imagine what I've been like since we arrived here! It's like walking outside and someone throws a heavy woollen blanket over me!

It's totally gorgeous Leonie! I'll post some pics soon - if this internet is strong enough! Very slow...

Thanks everyone - we have the air con roaring with the feet up and semi unpacked! Resting is very important;)

Rub it in, why don't you? ;-P

So I quickly changed out of my work clothes, closed the window I'd opened, grabbed a book and my handbag and jumped in the car. I am now sitting at a local park waiting for my exile to finish. I reckon I can go home in about 5 more minutes!
And I left my glass of wine on the kitchen counter!

Oh Kathryn. That is too funny!! You should have grabbed the wine though.

Oh dear Kathryn! Hiding out in the park! Lol! You could just sit in the back garden and put your headphones on and ignored the doorbell! And enjoyed your glass of wine!
I'm just on my way hone now so will have missed all the young trick and treaters. However, it's been hard to totally ignore Halloween because when I got in to work this morning so e of the younger people had decorated our lunch room with cobwebs and spiders and someone had brought in cup cakes decorated with spiderwebs and tiny pumpkins!

Oh no! Not the wine! ;)

And I didn't think of that on the spur of the moment, Carolyn!! Jumping back in the car seemed the easiest option!

That is funny Kathryn, your desire to flee the scene was just too strong!

We don't need to follow America with this but sadly the stores keep pushing it. Children get enough junk food as it is :S

Agree, and agree, Alex and Laura! Especially agree with not giving out junk food to children - sending very much the wrong message (especially since I'm a dietitian!). Besides, why should I feed kids who I don't even know??! If they were starving, that would be a different matter... Maybe I should have stayed and handed out a Healthy Eating Guide for Children brochure produced by the NHMRC! But I'd already had a long day! And Carolyn is right - I just wanted out!! As I saw them going door to door when I was getting my things out of the car, I wished I'd taken a little longer to get home, so jumping back in the car was my natural reaction!!

And sorry, Kiera - not so fun, from my point of view! Like Alex, I feel more ambushed by kids asking for treats rather than finding it fun. I just don't get it...

My real comment is I just caught a glimpse of 'Shawshank Redemption' on TV as I was about to open my book. What a movie.

I'll bear that in mind for next year Kathryn - healthy eating guides all round! Or maybe a selection of fresh fruit instead of lollies? That should scare them off for good.
@Suzanne, my boys used to beg me to let them go trick or treating when they were around the 10-14 age bracket and I don't know how you combat it. It was less popular then (5-10y ago) so it was easier to say No. One year some of the primary school Mums got together and organised a Halloween party after school - dress-ups and games with healthy snacks and that went down well.

Oh no Brenda. Isn't it funny as I'm the opposite. I think you should just plan another trip in Autumn/winter! The time I went there for the wedding across the road was perfect, I was hot and it was July. I remember thinking that was just crazy..

Haha!! Oh that is so funny Kathryn! Hounded out of your own house! Why didn't you just hide inside with your book and your glass of wine?

They were only a few houses away as I was getting stuff out of my car, so they would have known I was inside ignoring them! Getting out of the house for a quarter of an hour and letting them get out of the street seemed a better option.
Of course, I may have not been answering because I'd put earphones in and music on and gone out in the backyard, or because I'd jumped straight in the shower, or some other perfectly plausible reason, but I didn't have time to think of any of those! Besides, I'd have felt bad not answering the door, but I didn't feel bad sitting in the car at the park with my book and GR on my phone to keep me amused until the coast was clear!
I bet you didn't get any trick or treaters at your apartment - lucky you!

It's funny the things you think of after the event isn't it! But you did well :)
Speaking of them, when I went to reception I bumped into a beautifully dressed witch and thought.. uh oh .. but no, no one knocked! Thank goodness:)

Sitting out on the balcony with a cuppa overlooking the ocean :) Lots of people walking and jogging..it's so peaceful and serene. Divine :)

I always feel that the hot weather comes too soon in Sydney. Spring is my favourite time of year but it never lasts long enough!

You're not supposed to get sick on your day off! Get well soon.
