Nothing like that harbour. When we flew into Sydney years ago after our first and only overseas trip, the sight of Sydney harbour brought tears to my eyes.

I know what you mean Dale! I still love it even after living in Sydney for over 20y. Going across it every morning in the train is one of the highlights of my day. I love going for a picnic or walk at one of the harbour beaches or going somewhere on a ferry.

We often think of coming to Sydney by train to wander around the Harbour, the Rocks area and all those lovely places. Just never seem to get to it;)

It's a lovely way to spend a weekend Brenda. Stay overnight and you can wander down to Chinatown or catch a ferry somewhere. Heaps to do - just avoid school hols!

Its really worth a look...nice place for a picnic lunch with stunning views of Sydney Harbour and Luna Park...it has come a long way since I first saw it several years ago.

Dale Harcombe | 6957 comments Sculpture by the Sea which occurs around Bondi is also worth seeing and on currently. Week days are best though it is still crowded and you do a lot of walking. But very good.

We occasionally catch the train to Newcastle and have lunch. The train ride is very pretty and there are some lovely restaurants now by the water there.

An Aussie Readers meet up would be a great excuse to come to Sydney :)

I actually had a coupon to use once (ages ago) and went through to checkout looking for the place to redeem it - couldn't find it and all of a sudden I had paid for the order! So I immediately emailed them, and they credited the amount onto my credit card...

I just came back from another Dymock's Literary Luncheon - this one was John Marsden. It was a delicious meal with wine and champagne followed by him being interviewed. It was very interesting. He has apparently just released his first adult book but I have forgotten what it is called!!! Maybe I should not have had that second glass:)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9989 comments Morning, Vicki! Could be warm today, it's over 18oC outside now. But I will be stuck inside the air-cond hospital all day, except for my lunchtime walk around the block. Might just include the Vinnies down the road to see if there are any book bargains to be had. And a bookfair at Austinmer tomorrow....
Finished The Love Song of Miss Queenie Hennessy last night but won't have time to review it until tomorrow (or tonight) 5 ★s though

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) Is anyone thinking about reading the new Caroline Overington book: Last Woman Hanged? There's a write-up in AWW this month. Louisa Collins was tried not once but four times for the same crime. It does sound like good reading as per AWW article.

message 15041: by Suz (new)

Suz | 4439 comments Bette I just went to read it as my mum left her copy here on her last visit, and it's last months issue.. The book sounds great though. I only discovered her books on the last 12 months, and loved the couple I've read.

Suz | 4439 comments Hi all, I am experiencing a couple of annoying things whilst using the app on my iPhone 5, my laptop is no longer working and I haven't replaced it yet.. Have access to a PC but it's outside in the office, do not as handy. Anyway, I'm often unable to remove books from my tbr list, I hit remove this book but it doesn't work. Also whilst making comments on reviews, the typing screen disappears and you have to go back up into the message (that probably didn't make sense!). Is anyone else having issues like this?

message 15050: by Neko (new)

Neko YES!!! I have major issues when using my phone when I want to update anything on GR unless it is a basic response in a group. I cannot even select 'currently reading' on my phone..drives me utterly mental.
