No, it wasn't called that when it moved to June - just cracker night. I think it was being called that when it was still in November. Aussie kids probably wouldn't have known who Guy Fawkes was.

I can remember reports of kids blowing off their fingers or losing an eye from fireworks when you could buy them. Some parents too....

We aren't close to the sea but we still benefit from the coastal breeze sometimes. Today must be one of those times.

message 14868: by Leonie (new)

Leonie (leonierogers) | 3569 comments 33.7 and rising apparently. No breeze. Aircon is on, but only a little. Our insulation is working well :)

message 14878: by Leonie (new)

Leonie (leonierogers) | 3569 comments I love thunderstorms! But this one's been a bit short lived, with very little rain so far. Hopefully we'll have a bit more.

I don't mind them either, but I don't like the dog's reaction to them!!

message 14880: by Leonie (new)

Leonie (leonierogers) | 3569 comments Poor Anzac, he's a big sook. The problem is he is big, and when he thinks he should be as close as possible to you, then it's a little tricky at times. (46kg of German Shepherd.) photo IMG_3214_zps191745e1.jpg

LOL! My little Chloe is thankfully not THAT big;) 10kg is her:)

message 14882: by Leonie (new)

Leonie (leonierogers) | 3569 comments He's a big boy! This was taken during a thunderstorm last year - he was trying to hop on Mal's lap!

message 14884: by K (new)

K | 1143 comments I have two giant breed sooks. A bullmastiff and a Great Dane x bull Arab and they both love being on my lap or leaning on me. Lol

message 14885: by K (new)

K | 1143 comments The bullmastiff is about 50kg and the Dane x would probably be close to 40.

message 14886: by Neko (new)

Neko We must have a family of kookaburras living near us..Keeping hearing a bunch of them lately...It is rather lovely though :)

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) Good morning Earlies!

News yesterday of another wave of the 'Windows' scam going around Aust. Be on your guard, everyone.

message 14892: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9989 comments You are up VERY early, Bette. Can't even tell what sort of a morning it is yet, except it's 19oC and no stars....
weather radar says it's going to rain on my washing that's still on the line from yesterday (too muggy to dry properly)
Have a good day, everyone!

message 14893: by B the BookAddict (new)

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) @Marianne, Just amended my review of The Miniaturist.

message 14894: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9989 comments @Bette, I like it even more now, but there's no button for that...

message 14895: by B the BookAddict (new)

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) @Marianne Did not like to amend something 'liked' without letting you know! Thanks. Sad I was disappointed with the book, I was so looking forward to it. Note to self: Beware of hype!

message 14896: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9989 comments Indeed! I think the hype on Lost and Found built up my expectations of that, so I was a tad disappointed..
