message 14454: by Neko (new)

Neko However, our Summers have been getting hotter though :/ Spring is always up and down.

Leonie (leonierogers) | 3569 comments I take it you've had enough rain? We've only had patchy bits and could do with some more. It was as if there was this gap - storms on either side, very little above us!

No it's not that Leonie. I don't mind the thunderstorm and rain - the garden needs it. But I don't like hearing the dog crying to be let inside when I want to go to bed!! lol

Leonie (leonierogers) | 3569 comments Ah, I see. Our german shepherd is a total thunderstorm wimp. He does sleep inside, and is meant to stay on his big cushion, but I suspect he might end up on our bedroom floor tonight if we keep having thunder.

They are all pretty scared of thunder aren't they! And fireworks :/ I hope you don't have a disturbed night!
How's your foot now after the ants and the rock? Hope it has healed pretty well :)

message 14462: by Leonie (new)

Leonie (leonierogers) | 3569 comments Still wandering around on my forefoot. Ended up ordering myself a heel cup today. Hopefully then it'll finally settle down - it's just a waiting thing really.

And then I have to remember that the ant nest is there next time we climb up the hill :)

I'll be joining you; hate the heat:( And bring that wee doggie inside. My Moses hides under my bed in thunderstorms; that boy is a big ninny.

We had gale force winds down here today, 60kmh. I had washed my hair but by the time I got back from shops, I looked like a mop with a fright.

message 14465: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn | 9871 comments I had a disturbed night but nothing to do with the thunderstorm. I was just drifting off to sleep around midnight when I felt something brush past my hair. Thinking it was a moth, I sat up and turned on the light to discover a mouse sitting on my hubby's pillow (he's away O/S). One of my son's was still up and arrived wielding a broom. What followed was a chase around the bedroom and then my husband's study as we tried to guide it towards the open front door.
My two cats had woken up and sat watching the entertainment until one had obviously had enough, pounced on the mouse and killed it in one move and then dropped it at my feet as if to say that's how you do it!
Bit tired this morning as it took a cup of tea and a read before I got back to sleep.

Love it! Well, and the cat was also saying, here's my contribution to our pack's food needs, presenting it to you as you usually do all the providing for the pack.

It was pretty funny once I'd got over the initial shock! We kept flushing the mouse out from behind one piece of furniture and it would run back behind another piece. My plan of trying to herd it out the front door was clearly not working.I was about to give up and go back to bed (with the door closed) when puss jumped in.

@Marianne. I'm afraid puss is going to be disappointed as mouse is not on the menu for tonight!

LOL - sounds like a scene from I Love Lucy :)

My late cat wouldn't even have woken up!!

I have a photo of her somewhere fast asleep on the front balcony with a bird sitting on top of her and a couple of pigeons strolling past

So funny!

On another note - is anyone having trouble with Goodreads being slow to load? Mine's intermittently blindingly fast, and then two seconds later it's taking five minutes to load a page. All the other sites I'm accessing are just fine.

That does sound funny! Mine are getting old and their favourite entertainment is to lie on the deck watching the pigeons strut about the lawn. They know they have no chance of getting any closer but they obviously still have the knack where mice are concerned!

I haven't had this issue in a long time with GR...But it has happened to me but years ago...I think it was a complaint at the time about it as well because it disrupted so many people :/ Hope it regains it normals speeds for you without it going back to slow :| A suggestion is to try another web browser and see if it experiences any issues too.

@Carolyn - Hahaha..Sorry that did give me a good chuckle. I can tell you that mice like camel chocolate!!! Sounds strange but I found a mouse had broken into my camel chocolate about a month ago. It was so strange because I didn't think a mouse would attack it...It was joked I brought a bug back from Dubai that had broken out of the chocolate! Then we saw the mouse poop in the cupboard..lol :s

I believe you Laura as I've had previous issues with mice and chocolate in the past!

One year just before Easter when my kids were little and I was doing the grocery shopping without them hanging off the trolley (a rare event) I bought their Easter eggs and hid them in my wardrobe. I thought I heard rustling a couple of times in my wardrobe at night but could never see anything. However, when I went to get the Easter eggs out, I discovered a mouse had been in the bag (as evidenced by mouse poo) and eaten through the foil and left huge holes in the chocolate complete with teeth marks around the edges!

I should note this was in a different house and we're not generally mouse prone!

Oh and I was thinking it was a well known Dubai brand of chocolate but it's actually CAMEL chocolate!!

message 14485: by Neko (new)

Neko @Carolyn - Oohhh...I didn't know mice had a likeness for chocolate! Cause we had dark chocolate next to the camel chocolate but the mouse left the dark completely alone..So they have a sweet tooth for milk chocolate no matter if it comes from a cow or a camel! lol

@Marianne - Lol! Yea, I can believe that! My folks thought I was playing a joke on them until I produced two blocks of camel chocolate! xD It's honestly not that bad for a different milk chocolate but a bit too sweet for my liking.

Lol..Yup! It's from an actual camel..It's why I had to BUY it!! Not sure when I'll be in Dubai again so couldn't pass up the opportunity...Going to Singapore next...I wonder what strange chocolate they will have but Camel at the moment really takes the cake!

message 14487: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9989 comments so it's made from Camel's milk? wow! But then I guess that's not so different to buying sheep's milk yoghurt in Greece
