Sally906 | 90 comments Well the tradesman didn't arrive at all yesterday!! Not impressed. Hubby is going to ring them on Monday!

We did have a lovely dinner last night though. Haven't caught up with our best buddy here for months as she and her partner, Ross, have been renovating. She invited us over for a roast pork dinner and so we tiptoed over broken tiles and wires etc and had the best roast for ages!!!

Then she announced that her and Ross are engaged and getting married next year. Wayne and I was so happy for them. We have stood by Methinee as she has been in, and out, of 4 relationships, all lovely men just not 'the one'. Ross is just perfect for her and we couldn't be happier. They want to get married in Bali which is less than 3 hrs away by plane and she can have a full church wedding, with Mass, puffy white wedding gown and a sit down reception in a 5 star hotel for less than $5000. The guests have to pay their own accommodation but get rack rates because she is getting it all arranged by the hotel!

Despite living in Darwin we have never been to Bali, so looking forwards to her setting the actual date and getting on with it

Awe..why is that? All the fuss of Christmas stuff?

I'm really looking forward to going up the coast with my partner..Really need a break after this working year! Lol

message 14409: by Neko (new)

Neko Sally, Oh so rude of those worker men! That really gets my blood boiling especially if they don't ring why! Did yours?

Despite that annoyance sounds like your evening turned out to be great! So, you'll go to Bali then when they pick a date?

(sorry for double post on phone trying to work this out properly)

I want December to come slowly too. Instead of going to WA for Christmas this year my hubby's family are coming here - parents and brothers and families. I'm really looking forward to their visit but have so much to organise in the house and garden before they arrive so I know December is going to roll around much too fast!

How wonderful Sally! Sounds like a delightful story, and I have heard about these beautiful (and inexpensive) weddings in Bali and how happy the bride and groom are with everything. Have a fantastic time when you go - perhaps you could add a few days for a holiday for yourself and hubby?

So sorry you had to take a day off for Optus to come, then they didn't! That is the height of rudeness and certainly not professional at all!

I hate the heat Laura! The humidity will be high by then (though it's here already) and it just seems like months and months of heat! But no I enjoy Christmas, so that part doesn't bother me:) And holiday time for you will be great too!

I am looking forward to it. They'll be here for my son's 21st just before Christmas and then we're spending a few days at Terrigal over Christmas as our house is a bit small for 12 people to stay cooped up in for too long. I'm sure it will all be fun but I am thinking of taking an extra week off work to recover and wind down afterwards :)

Yes it's a lovely area - our son was born in the Gosford Hospital and we lived in Berkeley Vale for awhile... I've always loved the area:)

message 14418: by Neko (new)

Neko @Brenda- Oh yeah the heat is fair enough...We had a pretty hot summer this year but I missed out on it thankfully (I hate it too). Sorry, I didn't mean Christmas itself but all the lead up to it fussing about and such..haha

I haven't had a holiday in my own country in maaaannnnnnny years (5+) let alone my own state so yeah it will be excellent. Then back to Italy for a month.

@Carolyn - Sounds like your Xmas will be a nice a busy one then! Possibly having a week to get over it might be a good idea too like you said..lol

It's funny how people have mentioned needing a break from their holiday but it can be so true to just get over it all and resume normalness.

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) Good morning EBs.

Brenda, I'm with you; hate the heat. We had 17C here on Friday, and today is expected to be 29C. I'll be inside hiding; am annoyed as I have loads of gardening to do.

We hit the nursery yesterday and I came home with eight new plants and five old fashioned terracotta pots for the garden. Hoping to get the plants dug in early this morning before it gets hot.

Vicki Tyley (vickityley) | 1732 comments Good morning, Bette and the EBs!

You did well at the nursery, Bette. (I love terracotta pots of all descriptions.) Happy gardening...

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) Hey Vicki:) Yes, me too, love old fashioned terracotta pots best. Hate all those bright lacquered new pots out now.

I enjoy gardening but I do seem to grow weeds quicker than plants:(

Forgot to say we met a friend of my sister while having a coffee at nursery who asked was I married. I told her "No, I'm between husbands at he moment." My sister nearly choked on her coffee. But the 'widow' can be so off-putting to some people and is often a conversation-stopper:)

Haha! Love it!!! You gave me my first early morning laugh Bette! Your poor sister....

I hope the heat's not too bad for you, and your early morning gardening is successful before the heat hits. Terracotta pots are so good to look at, I love walking around the nurseries and looking at the different ones:)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9989 comments just back from my reunion weekend: 5 of us at Coogee, lots of chat, catching up, realised we first met 41 years ago! Not a lot of reading done, of course, but some lovely dinners and brunches, photos shared etc, late nights, sleep-ins. And absolutely PERFECT weather!!
Now I have to do all the chores I skipped: washing, grocery shopping, strip the beds etc etc

Laura, it started off as Early Birds, Bette, Vicki, me, anyone else up that early. I guess if you hadn't gone to bed yet, you'd be a Late Bird? But you are also most welcome to join us in the early morning hours!
