Hi Geoff,
Aww your story about your kitten brought tears to my eyes :( What a very lucky little kitten, Gypsy was to have been saved by your daughter. How someone could do that in the first place is beyond me. And what a great age Gypsy lived to as well.
It's the hardest day in a pet owners life when that day comes and I dread the day I have to do it, but it's harder to watch them suffer. My Gypsy is 13, but acts like a 3 year old :) Did you get another cat, Geoff?

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) Confirmed the plane was shot down, surface-to-air missile which could only have been supplied by Russia. Intercepted communications of a seperatist calling his Rusky boss very confused as to why the Antonov-29 cargo plane he was told to shoot down didn't have any weapons in it.

And also Israel invading the Gaza Strip. Again.

Feels a lot like World War III today.

Gypsy was supposed to be our daughter's cat, but as normal a week after it arrived it became my wife's :-o)
but after Gypsy died we decided not to have any more pets because we travel a lot and didn't think it was fair on any pet to be shunted to friends or cattery etc, so the answer is no :-o)
Daughter is married with three children and they are now talking of getting a dog . . .I've told them not to look to us for pet sitting :-o)

We had a wonderful day today for our daughter's 30th birthday. A restaurant overlooking the ocean, a table by the window, frolicking whales who were breaching, a beautiful view and great company! The service was amazing; it's the little things that count...I have put a couple of photos in the favourite photo thread if anyone is interested:)

We will be having lunch and cake tomorrow. It's very hard to get the family together now. No 1 son ,the birthday boy, can only come Saturday. No 2 son has to work Saturday. No 3 son is coming Sunday.

Suz | 4439 comments I was thinking the same thing. Quiet Sunday mode for everyone. I've had my littlest one unwell today. Finished a book though while he slept. I for one am looking forward to summer!!! I'm a summer gal, not loving winter, and it hasn't even been a 'real' winter.

message 12820: by Leonie (new)

Leonie (leonierogers) | 3569 comments Yes, I'm working through some final editing, while being distracted by our 18 year old son watching 'The Sanctuary' episodes on Apple TV. A very quiet Sunday - it's overcast and freezing cold outside here, but nice and warm inside.

Have ugg boots, cat, recliner and laptop.

Leonie (leonierogers) | 3569 comments I also got sucked into watching episodes of Blake's 7 on youtube last night. When you think that it was cutting edge TV in 1979, you see how much things have changed in terms of special effects and television. The story's good though.

The spaceship and computer special effects are very unrealistic by today's standards, but the story has held up well so far. Have only got through a couple of episodes so far, but plan to work my way through whatever I can find.

We used to sit and watch that regularly. Only recently watched the DVDs again. Yes see how special effects etc have changed but the characters were good. My only problem was with the end. A bit of a cop out. Thought it was like the creator didn't know how else to end it.

Yes it's exactly that, fun going through them all. I just looked at that book, it looks great, congratulations on winning it, that must be a thrill too. I don't enter many so my chances are very slim.

Sally906 | 90 comments Hello everyone. Just popping in to say hello.

We are in Queenstown now and to my great joy it snowed! Not in Queenstown itself but in the hills and mountains around. We had to drive about 15 mins to find a nice patch of grass for me to play :)

We're heading further south on Wednesday and a cruise on doubtful sound on Thursday. We are flying home at the end of next week - only seems like yesterday we left!

Anyhow will be back on deck in just under a fortnight.
